Struggling to conceive after miscarriage

Hi everyone,
I had a missed miscarriage back in April - baby had stopped growing around 6 weeks but I only found out at my 12 week scan.
Me and DH have been TTC ever since but haven’t had any success yet. I’m now on my 7th cycle since the miscarriage.

I had some hormone bloods done at the doctors but they all came back normal and they won’t do any other tests until we’ve been trying for 12 months.

I just wondered if anyone else had struggled to conceive after a miscarriage? Or if anyone had any suggestions for me?

A bit of information about me...

  • I’m 27 (28 next week) & DH 29
  • TTC #1
  • 31 day cycle with 10/11 day luteal phase (although this months has been 12)
  • Usually get positive OPK around CD19
  • Myself & DH have been taking conception vitamins since the miscarriage
  • Stopped taking contraception (POP) around July 2019

Any help would be appreciated x

@Koalie The symptoms for APS are quite vague, the only symptom I had really was the 2 MMC's. I have a family history of stroke and DVT's, although I'm not sure if I mentioned this when asking for the bloods. Yeah, progesterone can be a cause as well. I'd had that, along with other hormones, tested after TTC for a year after my first MMC, so I knew they were all okay, but you should ask for those too.
I totally agree, I had to do all the research, asking and chasing myself - It can make you feel very lost and unsupported.
I can't think of anything else I asked for, just the APS and hormone bloods 😊 x

Hi all..i know this is an old thread but I am going through this right now..i have been trying to conceive #2 for nearly a year (i'm 36)..i had a mmc in Jan 22 and still no luck..had a break this month as DH was away but back tonight...did any1 manage to conceive since you last posted? x

Hi @Justkeepswimming20 :) sorry you find yourself here. I did manage to conceive but my second pregnancy was an ectopic which I have just had resolved with methotrexate so now I have to wait 3 months before I can try again 😭 … so next month will be a year since we started trying for baby #1 and I’ve had 1 MMC and 1 ectopic in that time. We have just had my OH’s SA results and he has low motility and low morphology so we are going to spend the next 3 months working on that. I assumed there would be no problem with him, as we fell pregnant the first month trying in August but I was wrong to assume that and wish we’d had him checked before now. Hopefully it won’t take us as long to fall pregnant again next time we try 🤞🏼

Have you and your OH had any tests? X

@Justkeepswimming20 sorry to hear about your mmc. It took us around 10 cycles after mmc to conceived again after d&c. We have a 6 month old now. We had literally just started with a napro fertility clinic to being investigating more when we conceived so I still don't know why it took that long. We had conceived quickly the pregnancy I had the mmc on. Sorry I have no guidance but hopefully my story gives some hope.

Justkeepswimming20 · 24/07/2022 21:31

@Koalie sorry to hear that.. 😞..maybe because we are 3 years older...i had day 21 test which was ok and abdominal scan which is ok..we said we will give it until Oct/Nov to seek further tests as I think we will just go private..just been taking vits, opk testing and pre seed oil so far..

Justkeepswimming20 · 24/07/2022 21:31

@Owlbeok you give me hope!

Hi everyone, came across this post as I had a MMC last June and it's been nearly a year TTC since with no luck. I wondered reading through if any one would like to update all these years later!

Owlbeok · 10/05/2025 07:48

@littlefox90 hey, an update from me is that I now have a 3year and 1 year old. Honestly I'm not sure why it took so long after my mmc to get pregnant. I remember thinking it would never happen but then it did. Got pregnant with my second with no issue. Hope this is helpful.

@littlefox90 Hi lovely. So sorry you’re going through this. I can’t remember if I mentioned this above but my periods were SO light after my MMC, I always suspected something wasn’t right but never ended up getting to the bottom of it. Even went to see an Ashermans specialist in London who ruled out Ashermans for me. In the end we went for IVF and had my little boy in Dec 2023. I’m now 31 weeks pregnant with a little girl (also IVF.) After giving birth to my son (via c section) my periods went back to normal so no idea what that was all about. I expect we would have conceived natural again eventually but after 2 miscarriages and all the unknowns, we decided on IVF to give us more control and hope. X
