Mid TWW - struggling with not testing

Hi all,
6dpo, 1st time trying for 1st child so all very new and exciting. However surprising myself at how obsessed I am with symptom spotting and wanting to test. Have already tested once (bfn obv), been looking at maternity clothes, watching one born every minute etc.
Any tips for switching the mind off?
I thought I wouldn't mind either way if it doesn't happen first cycle as I know it can take some time. Now I'm worried that if I get bfn (which I'm aware is likely) that I'll be constantly overthinking/obsessing until next O. 😞

@AMS19 I’ve got some of the cheap sticks. That I’ve been doing the last 3 days. All showed a low result. So going to keep doing it and putting them into the app. I’ve got that pre mom app and seems to be really good.

I’ve been advised to log that withdrawal bleed as the first day as cycle and see how long until I get period as I’ve got nothing to go on at the minute. Probably have a better idea once I get an actual period.

Not going to go as far as temperatures and things. I’m a nurse and work silly shifts of mixed nights and days so I would never get an accurate reading Xx

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 10:58

@jessi60 I used my withdrawal bleed even though you shouldn't as you can't do anything without it! And I also use premom, my LH levels spike very quickly so keep doing it and when you start to see an increase test 2/3 times. This was mine from this cycle - just so you can see how quickly it came and went!

If I have a regular 28 day cycle like I used to pre contraception then I would be due to get my period in 5 days. And would be 9dpo today. But that’s only going off the bleed I have and I think that was just a withdrawal bleed, so I don’t know if I actually ovulated this month or not. All very confusing.

Think I’ll see if I get a period in a week or so. But then I could just have long cycles with having the implant out. Wish I got it out sooner now !! Xx

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 11:00

@Forest27 just don't forget the cheapies wont be as sensitive/reliable as a FRER so don't be disappointed if you don't get a BFP, you might not be out! I'll probably cave at the weekend too 😂😂

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 11:01

@AMS19 aw that’s so interesting to see. Mine have just been low but I’ve only just started doing it. I’ve been told it’s best to do it on the afternoon rather than the morning? X

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 11:03

@Forest27 Don’t think I have had any real symptoms. Hard when your mind just runs away with you!
I’ve had bad headaches for over a week but I’ve cut out a lot of caffeine so I think it’s more likely to do with that. I’ve been really paranoid aswell cause my partner had Covid and he started with headaches. My nipples have been so sensitive but not my actual boobs. But they feel less sensitive the last couple of days so don’t think that’s anything either. It’s been so long since I had a period as I had the implant 5.5 years and then was on the pill for 5 years before that so I can’t even remember what I felt like before I was due on xx

Forest27 · 02/11/2020 11:06

@AMS19 wow that did come and go quick!! I’ve just been using OPKs once a day in the afternoon. I’m DTD every other day this month so hopefully it shouldn’t matter anyway 😂

Ah I know, I’m saving those for when I’m actually late for my period as they’re expensive 😂 only 14-17 days to go... 🙈

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 11:08

My boyfriend actually thinks I’m insane aswell. He was under the impression that we were just going with the flow. I come off contraception and see what happens. This morning I was showing him
that app and how it predicts ovulation based on your cycle length and when you should be having sex. He was like .... so I have to have sex when that app tells me to? Hahah poor lad was confused.

I told myself I wouldn’t think too much into things but here I am! Confused ha xx

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 11:10

Have you heard of the pregnancy tests sold in savers? They a brand called answer. You get two in a pack for £5.

Apparently they the same as the first response tests. They made by the same company and have the same manufacturing address on the box. The tests looks the same aswell when they out of the packaging except the first response branding Xx

Forest27 · 02/11/2020 11:11

@jessi60 I know! I was convinced I was last month but nope! I’ve got the same symptoms now as well 😩

To be honest I think the symptoms are pretty much the same. I had really sore boobs when I was pregnant and I have the same now and did last cycle and wasn’t pregnant. I also get tired before my period is due and was the same when I was pregnant. I also feel extremely sick to the point I’ve been running to the bathroom heaving but I’ve had a period since it started so no idea what that’s about 😂

The only real symptom for me is being sensitive to smells and aversion to tea and coffee! Oh and weird food cravings... that never happens when I’m due on!

It’s hard not to symptom spot though isn’t it! I keep telling myself to relax but I can’t 😂

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 11:19

@Forest27 yeah it’s a difficult one when they all so similar. And then some people have nothing and feel fine. Like I’ll sit and read people’s symptoms and then get stomach cramps but I think I’m psychologically doing that to myself. It’s strange.

It will be my first if I’m lucky enough but always have in the back of my mind what if I can’t have children. Ridiculous I know but I worry about everything. Xx

Forest27 · 02/11/2020 11:25

@jessi60 Haha if does make you feel crazy! My partner feels used and abused I think this month 😂

No not heard of those! Can you test early?

I might have a look if these cheapies don’t work. I want to wait until my period is due to test but it’s sooooo far away

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 11:35

Yeah they the same sensitivity as first response. So early testing ones. I’ve read about them on forums on here. Think they are the same, made in the same factory just different branding. Always prefer the pink dye test ones anyways, they went to be easier to read xx

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 11:41

@jessi60 that is super interesting about the other tests. Amazon has a pack of 2 FRER for £5.50 so I stocked up as that seemed very cheap! I've got 6 FRER and 2 clear blue dating ones. I'm not actually tempted to test yet, probably because I doubt it would show. Once I get to 10/11DPO the urge will be much higher im sure!

And on OPKs yes in the afternoon with a hold of at least 2 hours, ideally more. That was my biggest challenge, I wee ALOT!

Forest27 · 02/11/2020 11:55

It would be my first too! Fingers crossed for us all! ☺️

@AMS19 do they?? I might take a look! Although I think having those in my house would be too tempting right now.

I’m actually waiting on a referral to go for a blood test to test for HCG because of my sickness (as the doctors don’t know what’s causing it). I can’t be pregnant as I’ve had so many negative tests and a positive ovulation test, but hoping I will be by the time I get my appointment 😆

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 12:12

@AMS19 yeah I seen them on Amazon’s aswell and ordered them. I find it fascinating that you can test and be negative and then positive the next day. Gives you a little hope when your not totally ruled out ! Xx

Forest27 · 02/11/2020 12:33

I’ve just ordered some now 🙈 they don’t arrive until Friday so I won’t be tempted.

I’ve just done another OPK and it was stark white so must definitely have ovulated / be ovulating?

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 12:37

Haha now I'm to blame that everyone has FRER's on hand 😂😂😂

Forest27 · 02/11/2020 12:45

@AMS19 I would have bought some anyway and I can’t resist an offer! 😂

I bought 4 🙈

Foxl2222 · 02/11/2020 16:55

@Forest27 sorry to hear about your molar pregnancy🙁 sending lots of baby dust to you!

Still no symptoms here (apart from the imaginary ones) 😅

If no pg this month, I might start using the ovulation sticks. As its first month trying, I've only used an app called Flo. Anyone any experience with this or other tracking apps, do they tend to be a lot less accurate? Xx

OP posts:
Annannanna · 02/11/2020 18:20

It’s my 2nd month trying and I’ve been using flo too, my cm matched when it said I was ovulating so hopefully it was correct!
I think I have lots of imaginary symptoms too, you start noticing every single thing your body does!

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 18:30

@Foxl2222 I use an app called pre mom which is really good xx

Idreamof2more · 02/11/2020 18:31

Last month when I had my chemical I had zero symptoms. When I had my boys
My symptoms were so strong from about 11 dpo so think all pg are different. I’m feeling proud not early testing. Last month I tested at 5 dpo. I almost did a FRER today but stopped myself as hate the feeling a bfn gives. Going to do all I can to get to when my af is due x

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 20:14

@Foxl2222 it depends what you want to use the app for. Premom is the best for scanning OPKs, and fertility friend is the best for BBT chart by a mile. I also use fermometer and Flo but there not really great for BBT/OPk tracking..

DOB78 · 25/11/2020 14:02

Hi am I ok to join? I'm only 3dpo and the wait is driving me insane. I'm stuck home at the moment too as I have covid which isn't helping. Symptom spotting like crazy even though I know its far too early.
This will #3 after a 17 year gap, new relationship. This would be our 1st cycle and at 42 know we'd be super lucky to get caught straight away.
Has anyone had a BFP yet? I desperate to test but think the earliest I can is 1st, gonna be a long week😔
