Soy isoflavones - good or bad experiences!

LaceyMermaid · 31/08/2020 14:25

Hi all,
I’m thinking of taking soy isoflavones this cycle as I don’t think my cycle has come back properly after having the coil removed yet. Interested to hear good or bad experiences with it, and which days you took it on! I’m thinking 3-7 as I’m 38 but have been ovulating late so would like to bring it forward so don’t want to rush 4-8 Incase it pushes ov back. Thanks!

Question ladies? So I've been taking cd 3-7 tgis month I'm wanting to take 2-6.... my period started yest day 10pm really light... would you count today as cd2 or CD1

Thanks so much xxx

LaceyMermaid · 12/09/2020 22:43

Well my periods are pretty non existent right now, Literally spotting and one day of flow (hence wanting to take soy). So I counted first day of spotting as Cd1. But I have read if you have a proper period to count cd1 as first day of full flow.

Same here - any sporting I count as cd1

NamechangeTTC · 13/09/2020 12:24

I count full bleed but we’re all different

Nat4392 · 25/09/2020 19:21

Just wanted to let you know that after taking the soy I finally got my BFP!! Cycle 14!
I obviously can’t say it was that for sure but this was the only thing I did differently this month x

snapple21 · 25/09/2020 19:53

I am also pregnant this month after my first month taking soy. Hope it is a sticky one 🙏🏻

whatever1980 · 25/09/2020 20:27

Congrats everyone! Great news! I'll give it a try this month!

NamechangeTTC · 26/09/2020 08:41

I’m on to cycle 2 of soy. Upped the dose from 120 day 3-7 to 120, 169, 160, 200, 200.

Now on cd 9.

Wearenotyourkind · 26/09/2020 09:01

@Nat4392 I think I remember you from the short LP board? Congratulations! I am made up for you! I got my BFP in May, but had a MC. Back TTC now. Tried Soy last month but it just delayed ovulation by 3 days and my LP was the same. Don't think I'll bother again this month as it felt more stressful. Much love 💕 (PS if this is a different Nat, ignore my story, but congrats nonetheless!)

Nat4392 · 26/09/2020 16:15

@Wearenotyourkind yes that’s me! 😊 sorry to hear about your MC. The soy didn’t seem to delay my ov. (Although this was the first month I didn’t use OPKs) I think I ov on day 12 going off cm/cp. It may or my not have been the soy that did it for me but I’ll never know! Just praying it’s a sticky one x

NavyBerry · 26/09/2020 16:21

Just wanted to share my experience and that of my friend. I have conceived on 1st cycle with soy. Over a year of trying before and 2 miscarriages. I hope this one sticks 🙏 same for my friend over a year of trying and a miscarriage. Conceived on first cycle of soy. Beautiful baby boy.

Neurotic90 · 26/09/2020 17:31

Congrats on the BFPs everyone!

I took soy this month for the first time, on CD1-5, and got a peak OPK today on CD15. Last cycle was 95 days, and had averaged 51 day cycles for the past year since coming off the pill. Fingers crossed I definitely ovulate, will keep an eye on my temps over the next few days.

LaceyMermaid · 26/09/2020 18:00

Hooray for the BFPs! I didn’t get my BFP but I did ovulate on cd15 which was 5 days earlier and it’s an actual proper AF this time rather than the spotting for 3 days I’ve had for the last 2 months (since Mirena coil removal after 12 years). So I’m going to do the same again this month and hope for the best! I only took 80mg soy days 3-7 because I didn’t want to delay ov I wanted to bring it forward!

Just be careful with it though.....

If you know you estrogen levels are low during your follicular phase (from blood test results), ok but be careful as too much is also linked to a shortened luteal phase.

Halo
fia101 · 30/09/2020 21:58

How is everyone getting on with soy please? What does do you recommend?

LaceyMermaid · 02/10/2020 16:38

Hi @fia101 I’m on my second cycle. Taking from cd3-7, 80 80 80 160 160. Last cycle I took 80 every day and it definitely brought my ov forward and made me ovulate

OP posts:
NamechangeTTC · 03/10/2020 08:29

Same days for me but 120 160 160 200 200 cause @snapple21 got success on that.

MrsLauraM · 04/10/2020 08:48

Hi, wondering if someone can give me some advice on this. I’m thinking of trying soy as my cycles are long and, if I ovulate at all, it’s around CD 31/32. Ideally I’d like to regulate my cycles and bring my ovulation forward, will soy do this? If so, what days/dosage would you recommend? Thanks!

LaceyMermaid · 04/10/2020 08:59

It could do @MrsLauraM it seems to work for some people and not others. I think there’s certain things like PCOS it’s not recommended for. You choose when you take it - 5 days between cd1and 9. Most people take it cd 3-7 because that’s in the middle basically and if you take it early it can produce multiple eggs but not necessarily of great quality and taking later Might delay ov but produces one more mature strong egg. I take 3-7. You can take different doses, I started low to not mess up my cycle (I read it can do) but most people do around 120 160 160 200 200. Hope that helps! I’d say it’s worth a go to bring your ov forward definitely

MrsLauraM · 04/10/2020 09:06

Thank you @LaceyMermaid 😊 I’m expecting blood results tomorrow to confirm if I have PCOS or not so if not then I think I’ll give them a go once AF comes along.

LaceyMermaid · 04/10/2020 12:30

@MrsLauraM Yes might be worth asking your dr if it’s ok for you to take them if you’ve had blood tests.

So I took soy supplements this month days 3-7 - only 72g per day (2 x 38g tablets) and I've got a peak on my CBFM for the first time since June. It's day CD13

Using the CB digital sticks and easy@home I got a peak on CD 17 last month but only a high on CBFM so something has happened as only thing I've done differently is take soy.

Didn't DTD yesterday (DTD the day before) have done it this morning and will again tonight and next two days as hopefully covered. Wish I'd done it yesterday too but wasn't expecting to get peak this early.

DTD every night last month from CD10 to CD18 and it was too much for DH he felt he didn't have anything left by CD18.

Let's wait and see what happens

LaceyMermaid · 10/10/2020 10:26

@whatever1980 fingers crossed for you! It has definitely helped me get a stronger and earlier ov. On my second month now and got a peak on cb digital on cd14 yesterday. Before I took soy I was struggling to get one at all and it was later on in the month. I upped mine to 80 80 80 160 160 this month instead of 80 every day last month - I’m relieved it hasn’t delayed my ov as I’ve heard higher doses can do!

OP posts:
whatever1980 · 10/10/2020 12:01

@LaceyMermaid brilliant! Thanks for the tips about soy!

It would be great if it happened this month but if it doesn't it's okay I'm kind of relieved just to get a peak on the CBFM again as I was worried. I've used the monitor since I had my first 7 years ago and always got a peak so thought perhaps it was perimenopause when didn't.

I've bought a digital thermometer to start charting temp next month as I know the ovulation tests don't tell you've ovulated. Feels like I'm spending a fortune on supplements and gadgets but invest to save and all that.

Good luck!

LaceyMermaid · 10/10/2020 12:38

@whatever1980 it’s really good to bbt I think, my chart was so much more clear that I’d ovulated last month when I took the soy so I’d defo recommend! I know charting temping etc isn’t for everyone but for me (I’m38) it helps me to reassure myself I am ovulating now so I find it really helpful.
