@Elakiya oh no I am not disheartened. I am loving that I have done it this long lol!! Yeah I know loads can influence it who knows what I did lol!! I just want a nice full chart so that if we are not pg this month I at least have a full chart to fall back on.

The fertility friend app has so much insight, like it tells how closely yours aligns with people that had got their BFPs and how many of your symptoms align with theirs and if you have an implantation dip or triphasic chart. Its actually got loads of information.

@Elakiya hope the quality isn't ruined in the images by this upload but it's really so interesting

@candycrush2298 it even gives you early pregnancy sign points lol! Hahaha loving it.

Yep like you say worst comes to worst at least you have a full cycle to look at. I on cycle day 14 and have not ovulated yet. I’ve been awful food wise the last two weeks so I reckon I’ll ovulate late and have a 34 day cycle this month. Gutted 😞. Do you get that? When you’ve been awful food/exercise wise do you find your cycle reflects it?

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 08:59

@Elakiya yeah I know its super cool haha.

awe no thats really awful is that like another side effect of pcos? I can have a really bad month or a really good month food wise and my cycles are the same they just vary between 24-26 days depending on what CD I ovulate.

It must be so frustrating for you. I really feel for you xx

Morning,

Just reading about your charts. Can you take a look at mine for me. Mine dropped again this morning, is that normal? I won't be able to do an OPK until around 2.30pm but confident I'll have my peak today as last night's was pretty much the same colour. Aghh this is all so confusing 😕

AF due 20/08 (thread 3)
Elakiya · 31/07/2020 09:27

@Kaybobx Maybe the first dip wasn't really a dip . Maybe it was just different because that day you didn't get enough sleep, slept with your mouth open (this seems to be my reasoning for everything BBT chart related). Hopefully you'll see that rise today. My graph looked so bad I went and fudged some more results lol to make it look somewhat straight. This is not what you are meant to do btw.

@candycrush2298 I hadn't really thought of it as an issue due to PCOS. I think it might be. They say women with PCOS have insulin resistance so maybe I have that and therefore if I have a bad food month it reflects. However my blood sugar results came back normal so not sure. When I first got tested with the NHS it turned out I wasn't ovulating then my private gynae put me on Metformin and with some exercise I naturally started ovulating and my cycles dropped to 28-36 days.

Kaybobx · 31/07/2020 09:29

@Elakiya you fudged it haha!! Make me laugh. I did get woken up by the cat at 4am then i snoozed until 4.30am thats when i took the temp. Could that be why it dropped then? Im still learning all of this

Elakiya · 31/07/2020 09:54

@Kaybobx Yh I am useless I just wanted a pretty graph lol! Yh the cat thing definitely sounds like it could be the cause of the dip. BBT's are quite sensitive. My friend thats a GP and even my gynae don't recommend it because they think it stresses the patient out more than it should.

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 09:58

@Kaybobx we know that yesterday's temp was a bit wrong because you woke at 3 and then struggled to sleep again so yesterday's temp could have actually been lower but by the disrupted sleep it went up. So chances are today, yesterday and the day before were very similar temps. The temperature can only tell you have ovulated after the fact which is why we need opks to tell us before it happens. So if you can take your opk today I am pretty sure today you will peak and its bd day so that worked out perfect didnt it lol. Then if you can do better than me and follow the SMEP (sperm meets egg plan) where if today is your peak you BD today, tomorrow for ovulation skip one day and then then BD again on Monday.

My peak feel the day after every other day BD so 3 days in a row was a bit too much. We haven't even done it once this week🤣🤣🤣 shocking but yeah hahahah.

@Elakiya insulin resistance makes a lot of sense because if you think of people with lower levels of type 2 diabetes they can manage it with exercise and diet. So it sounds logical that it may be a factor. What is metformin used for?

OP posts:
Kaybobx · 31/07/2020 10:04

I've pretty much screwed the last 2 days then haha!!
Will OPK as soon as I'm home. Hopefully i have some energy to BD! These 2 early mornings have killed me.

@candycrush2298 you haven't done it this week?! Shocked! Your a randy devil hahaha

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 10:06

@Kaybobx lol it doesn't really matter how much the fluctuations are before ovulation you want to get it right after ovulation as that confirms you actually ovulated and can give some signs towards pregnancy lol. So dont worry about it haha.

OP posts:
candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 10:07

@Kaybobx and yes I know cant beliece we haven't even done it once likely this weekend though think I am recovered 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
Elakiya · 31/07/2020 10:26

@candycrush2298 It helps lower your blood sugar levels by urmm working with the insulin (very technical aren't I) lol! It's usually given to people with diabetes but apparently it can help women with PCOS ovulate. See I was prescribed it around the same time that I started exercising so can't tell if its the exercise that helped me ovulate or the metformin, but I definitely wasn't ovulating before them.

agreed with @Kaybobx can't believe you haven't BD-ed this week! You're not sick are you lol!

Elakiya · 31/07/2020 10:29

@Kaybobx I agree with @candycrush2298 it's okay if its not too accurate before as long as you can see the rise after ovulation. Mine are just awful though. I might finish it off this cycle but unsure if I'll continue to next cycle.

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 10:47

@Elakiya oh wow thats interesting. Well either way whether it was exercise or metformin its a huge positive that you started ovulating again. Probably a stupid question but do you get your periods when you don't ovulate?

Whahahaha no I was just so tender and a bit sore down there hubby's stamina increases a lot when we do it often so sex for extended periods of time gets a bit rough and yeah tender lol!!! But I am recovered and ready to go lets hope hubby is too 🤣🤣🤣 to be fair I could have actually done it yesterday but hubby passed out early so didn't have the opportunity lol!!

OP posts:
Elakiya · 31/07/2020 11:27

@candycrush2298 Yh I still had normal-ish cycles to be honest. They averaged about 36 to 38 days - the longest they'd go to is 40 days but I still had some short 28 day ones. I didn't ovulate in any of those.

Now they are very mostly around the 32-34 day mark and at worst go to 36 days but I seem to be ovulating now. I also get a lot of watery CM which apparently is a sign you're fertile (didn't know this until last month)

@

Elakiya · 31/07/2020 11:29

@candycrush2298 if you weren't trying to conceive how many times a month did you BD? :P We would BD at most once maybe twice a month lol! Anymore than that and he's just a very lucky man :P

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 11:43

@Elakiya really I actually thought you wouldn't bleed if you didn't ovulate. So I wonder the science behind it you know you normally get your period when your body sheds its lining that it prepared for possible pregnancy so I wonder why you actually bleed if you don't ovulate.. hmmm interesting.

Yes when I was on anti histamines the most I would get to fertile cm was watery so definitely is fertile which is great news that you are getting that.

If we weren't TTC then we would likely do it about 3 or 4 times a week. Except the week before my period my libido drops really low that week so then its maybe like 1 or 2 days. That's how I always knew AF was a only a matter of days away and I know she is really close when I get super in the mood again as I get a very high sex drive right about when she shows up.

Once or twice a month😆😆😆😆😆

OP posts:
Elakiya · 31/07/2020 12:27

@candycrush2298 Think you get a period because either the lining gets too much for the body and it decided to shed it or estrogen levels drop. I am not a medical professional though this is just what I've gathered from reading. I used to be very niave and say well I get a period so I must be ovulating and quickly learned this was not the case.

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 12:36

@Elakiya its all very interesting myself also naive as I honestly thought you had to ovulate to get a period. I didn't realise you could actually get one without it. Really learnt something here.

OP posts:
Elakiya · 31/07/2020 13:48

@candycrush2298 Yh the more I research about this the more I wish I'd gone down the medical route, it's so much more interesting. And once you experience something first hand I think it makes it easier to then help others.

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 14:00

@Elakiya definitely and imagine when you have your children you would be able to impart so much knowledge with them. First hand experience is excellent becuase you have a vested interest to learn and also because once you are skilled you have both the academic knowledge and "street" knowledge. You ever think about switching careers?

OP posts:
Elakiya · 31/07/2020 14:17

@candycrush2298 I did think about retraining as a doctor but it’s 6 years and at 29 not so tempted also I need to work as I earn much more than hubby.Research doesn’t pay as well so didn’t really want to take such a whack on salary. My job is also quite a secure one, it’s slightly niche and work is always available so unsure I want to give that up.

Once I have my kids though I am going to try and make a YouTube page or some sort of webpage all free for people and see if I can help a few PCOS women get pregnant. It’s really difficult to tell someone oh just cut out sugar and carbs and you’ll get pregnant. I think the process needs to be more gradual and I feel like I never found that support

Elakiya · 31/07/2020 14:20

@candycrush2298 also loads of people do it for money where you have to pay for their services, I want to see if I can do it for free. I probably won’t be able to help as many people because I still have to keep my full time job but I just want the satisfaction of making a difference to be honest lol. That’s the plan anyway but it means I need to go on a couple of courses as well and learn about nutrition and talk to more women with PCOS understand all the differences it will take years but if I can at least make the difference to one or two lives I’d be so happy.

candycrush2298 · 31/07/2020 14:21

@Elakiya I can understand that training for 6 years is a really long time. And if you have a niche job that you don't want to give up it makes a lot of sense not to want to lose that security.

Awe that would be amazing I think people would really learn from that and appreciate a step by step kind of process. Many would benefit from it that is for sure.
