Falling pregnant with the mirena coil????

Hi Everyone

Im new here.. have a bit of a dilemma.

Am on my second Mirena coil, had the first one put in 2001 after the birth of my daughter.. It was taken out in Feb this year as i developed PID from it. Had severe periods until i convinced my GP to put another one in 9 weeks ago.

Had my period 3 weeks after having it put in which was as normal as ever as it takes me about 6 months for it to cut the bleeding down.

Had my second period or what ever was of it.. on the 1st September (i have a 21 day cycle)but it was more like spotting then had 2 days of bleeding which wasn't even worth the energy as it wasn't really anything and came off after a bit more spotting.

Have no idea if this is anything to do with it but i had a coughing fit 2 weeks ago and the pain in my stomach was so intense i couldnt move and felt like i was being stabbed for a week after!!

I Have been experiencing severe exhaustion and constant nausea and a cross between diaorrhea and constipation for 2 weeks now and am getting really fed up with it. I went to my GP's at the beginning of the week and was told that i should take a pg test to be on the safe side. Told the gp id have to wait as with my daughter it didnt show up until 3 weeks after my period was due.

Has anyone else had these symptoms with the mirena and actually ended up pregnant as i dont think im that unlucky to be the 1%??

I had my second mirena coil fitted last year May and have never been pregnant. I'm 25 and don't have any kiddies. It's completely normal to have pain after your coil has been inserted and you may experience severe cramps and discomfort for 2 days. The coil takes a few months to settle and for the hormones to start working. I have problems with my right ovary and have had cysts with both coils. Apparently women with the mirena tend to get bigger cysts then women who don't. My previous coil got stuck and I needed to have it removed as I had it for 5 years. They injected me on the inside and used different methods to remove it but I still had a new one fitted as it's the only thing that works for me. I have had so many pregnancy symptoms over the past 6 years and in the end it all came down to cysts or my hormones. You need to remember that your body thinks it's pregnant for the 5 years you have it so if you do think you are pregnant or you feel really unwell just go see a doctor. Hope this helped. I know you posted this last year so you might have removed your coil by now. Everyone is different and you just need to find what's good for you. I have experienced cysts in the first year of my coil fitting so the first year is always a bugger. As to why they move I don't know but it's always good to get a regular check up to make sure it's in the right place.

Hi I had the marina coil in for 4 years!

I started to feel sick and dizzy and didn’t know what it was so I rang the doctors and told him and he said to do a pg test to make sure to rule it out and it was positive I had to then go to the hospital for an emergency scan and get the coil removed..
