This is more of a cry for needing someone to talk to post 😭

My partner and I have been trying since last year to conceive well last October.

I have irregular periods so never actually know when I am ovulating.

We have sex at least 3 times a week.

I feel like everyone is getting pregnant but us 😭😭😭😭

We are trying to keep it a secret to so no one knows so difficult not having anyone to talk too.

My doc said they won't do any tests on me until 1 year from coming off the pill. 😢

@Positevibes it could mean you've already ovulated or you're not quite there yet. My app always says I'm going to ovulate on day 14 but it's usually always later, around day 18. I'd keep testing for a few days and see if the line gets darker. Also, things like having ewcm can be a reliable indicator that you're ovulating/about to ovulate. I monitor my mucus and use OPKs to get a good idea of when it will be.
How long have you been trying? I used OPKs for a few months before spotting a pattern.

orangeicecream · 01/05/2020 14:39

It's such a frustrating time, I feel for you. It took me 16 perfectly timed cycles with no fertility issues at all to conceive my 1st and one single try to conceive my 2nd... Good luck to you 🍀

lockdownlowdown · 01/05/2020 14:40

Get some digital ovulation sticks. I've used them every time and always worked for me ( I've had a 7 bfps in total). I don't seem to get pregnant unless I have sex on the exact day of the smiley face so you might just be missing out on ovulation.

lockdownlowdown · 01/05/2020 14:41

Ps I found strip ovulation tests a bit tricky. They never seemed to get really dark

Elouera · 01/05/2020 14:41

Remember that there is only a 20% chance of it working each month- IF all is normal. That's is why they won't do any tests till after 12mths of trying when under 35yrs.

What testing have you had beforehand to find out why your periods are so irregular? Do you have PCOS or something else?

Elouera · 01/05/2020 14:56

@lockdownlowdown- I too never found urine ovulation strips worked at all. Either I misses the magical few seconds I ovulated and would have shown a high reading, or just didn't work on me? I know I ovulated (from blood hormones levels and scans) though.

I used a re-usable saliva ovulation test which always gave me a reading. Its like a tiny microscope and you look at the changes in the pattern shape of the saliva. Overall I'd TTC 9yrs, so buying a single, reusable device worked out MUCH cheaper than multiple monthly ovulation strips.

Positevibes · 01/05/2020 15:46

@jennylouisaa hi thanks for your response. May will be our 9th Month of trying. I'm going to do a couple more OPKs today and tomorrow see what they look like. We've been pretty good at DTD this month so 🤞🤞 how long have you been trying? I never realised it was so complicated

jennylouisaa · 01/05/2020 16:08

@Positevibes good luck! Thankswe've been trying for a year now. No known fertility issues, docs have confirmed I'm ovulating and my husband has had tests (I'm 30, he's 42), so it's just a case of trying to be patient for us!

PlanBea · 01/05/2020 16:20

My DH and I have been trying since January 19. The first month we were all excited and "we just made a baby!", I look back now and laugh at how naive we were. I think because we spend our whole adult lives avoiding pregnancy and being warned you get pregnant from thinking about unprotected sex it makes the reality of it doesn't routinely happen immediately a bit of a shock.

I'd just been at the point of getting referrals and covid happened. We've decided to continue naturally but with no pressure on it. If it happens when in lockdown, it happens. I definitely have my less serene moments though where it just feels so unfair!

RileyF12 · 02/05/2020 20:37

Hey everyone,

Tonight I keep getting these short twinge pains to the right hand side of my ovaries?

What is this?

jennylouisaa · 04/05/2020 21:48

Hey OP, how are you getting on? Did you take another test?

I just found out one of my best friends is pregnant. So happy for her but gutted at the same time!

thewinefairy · 05/05/2020 09:31

We had sex every other day between periods. Dh was away with work for a week. He has to come back twice to do the honours. Anyway, it worked, dd is now 11.

RileyF12 · 05/05/2020 16:34

No update still trying lol been monitoring my temperature on a daily basis so hoping this gives a bit of guidance.

How is everyone else getting on?

Currently 1DPO here, so the dreaded TWW begins...
I’ve used preseed and Agnus Castus for the first time this month so we’ll see if it makes a difference!

SpillTheTeaa · 05/05/2020 16:48

I had a little twinge on one side when I was pregnant (didn't know I was pregnant at the time) thought it could be my period. I also felt sick in the evening for about an hour again didn't know I was pregnant.
Best of luck to everyone TTC. Wishing for you allThanks

Naera95 · 05/05/2020 22:02

Currently CD 10 so BD tonight following along SMEP. Took a digital opk today which was negative. Praying this is our month!! Also using preseed for the first time and really enjoying it

lilypad88 · 05/05/2020 23:31

Hi there 👋🏻

Bit late on this post, but I feel your pain! And today is one of those days where I feel giving up and feeling so down about this all thing!....

Been off the pill for over a year now and been TTC since last September with no sign whatsoever of pregnancy.... I do too have kinda irregular cycles, started tracking bbt and opk since march, so hopefully will get me to understand what's going with my body. I really feel like its letting me down 😩

RileyF12 · 06/05/2020 12:46

Aww @lilypad88 I feel your pain ,

Docs won't do tests on my until it's been a year I've been off the pill.

But doc also told me it can take up to a year for some couples to conceive!

😓

Zofloramummy · 06/05/2020 12:51

Took me 18 months and was just put in the waiting list for tests when I fell pregnant. Sometimes I think the stress of monitoring, planning and testing just adds stress and doesn’t help at all.

I do remember thinking why the hell had I bothered with contraception for years as I’m obviously not that fertile!

CurlyEndive · 06/05/2020 12:58

That's why they don't do the tests until you've been off the pill for a year OP. It can take a normal healthy couple up to a year to conceive. So it would be a waste of time and money to do the tests, come back with no issues, then the couple gets pregnant anyway within a couple of months.

lilypad88 · 06/05/2020 16:05

@RileyF12 thanks, yea doc said the exact same to me, I did have my ovaries tested though because of my painful period, I manage to get an ultrasound scan and no cysts but have all the other symptoms of PCOS so don't really know what to think and doc doesn't want to do more test before 1 year of ttc as well... I've embarked on a healthier diet and lifestyle though, can't do me wrong... how have been your journey so far? Are you trying new things or just waiting to see what happens?

@Zofloramummy ah yea it definitely adds stress, no doubt about that, I'm tracking like an OCD maniac! But at the same time I find I've learn so much about my body, it's pretty awesome how the body mechanics work and at the same time so frustrating when it doesn't go the way it should 😣

RileyF12 · 06/05/2020 20:52

@lilypad88 so we have been using conceive plus lubricant ( bought it from amazon) obvs I'm not pregnant so not really working for us but we are still using it.

I'm so sick of feeling differently then thinking of this could be it.

This week I've been having an upset stomach , constantly going to toilet, peeing a lot and I'm so bloated my stomach is solid. My face has also broke out really badly I'm praying this is some sore of early symptom.

OP posts:
lilypad88 · 06/05/2020 21:37

@RileyF12 Ha! Yea, same here... every month I feel like I have new symptoms xD I think it's just us noticing what our body does now that we are ttc. But fingers crossed this time is a good sign for you!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 what dpo are you now?

lilypad88 · 06/05/2020 21:38

And yea I'm using fertility friendly lubricant too but hasn't done anything, I'm even getting paranoid about it now and thinking maybe it's actually not good and best to avoid

RileyF12 · 06/05/2020 21:38

@lilypad88 I don't no what dpo as I have irregular periods it's a nightmare
