Short Luteal Phase Gang!

Beau20 · 27/02/2020 09:05

I started a thread a while ago asking for success stories but now I would love to get all the girls together who are struggling to conceive with their short Luteal Phase!

Here's a little bit about me -

TTC #1
Cycle 7
28 years old
Luteal phase average 9-10 days longest being 11 days.
Ovulation CD17-18 cycles 26-28 days long

I have had 2 pregnancies before (both termination please no flaming) both conceived without even trying, one with my current partner of 6 years. I also had a chemical in January. My last contraception was Nexplanon for 1 year and before that I was on the pill for 10 years or so (which was when I conceived previous). I have been taking 50mg sertraline for 6 months then 100mg sertraline for 6 months after that and have just stopped completely today. This is the only thing I have been doing differently since I conceived last time so part of me thinks this may affect fertility.

I'd love to hear about everyone else's journey! x

@Slk3558 I've read about leg cramps which I think is something to do with calcium... I've had some weird pains in my legs too but a bit more random than yours, I think. There are all sorts of weird little symptoms aren't there!

Can't wait to get to 6 weeks 🤞🏻 I need an app that has daily pics of the baby's development, I can't wait a whole week to get a new picture 😂

Slk3558 · 09/06/2021 11:43

🤣🤣 I remember being like that last time , googling baby at 5 weeks 2 days lol.

I’m thinking of doing a FRER today I’m 14 DPO, I don’t know why I’m so nervous this time and need some reassurance??

Slk3558 · 09/06/2021 14:44

@GlassLily latest frer bottom one so it’s 9,10,12,14. Do you think that progression looks ok? I’m still terrified

GlassLily · 10/06/2021 04:00

@Slk3558 absolutely! It's looking great. Beautiful progression 😍 I did FRER every day from 10-15 dpo and they were just like yours. I then did another at 18DPO (diff brand) and got a dye stealer. Then had to do a CB Digi after the 5 week mark just to see, and got a 3+ at 22 DPO. I've actually stopped feeling the urge to test now! I'm saving my last test for the days just before my scan so I at least have some warning if things are looking bad.... Don't know if this is a good idea or not, I may not do it if I'm too scared!

Slk3558 · 10/06/2021 04:55

Thanks @GlassLily. That seems like a good idea, just to check things are ticking along.

I’ve been getting a bit more crampy since yesterday bank and front, hope that’s not bad sign. Even mild twinges makes me nervous. I’ll probably do the same as you test 18/19 dpo and then leave it until scan.

When is your scan?

Slk3558 · 11/06/2021 09:43

@Pinklilly this morning my boobs feel less sore today, did this happen to you? I’m really panicking … x

Slk3558 · 11/06/2021 09:44

@GlassLily above message meant for you!

GlassLily · 13/06/2021 06:18

@Slk3558 Sorry for slow reply! My scan is Wednesday. Which suddenly seems really soon! And YES the boobs thing absolutely happened to me. They were really obviously sore, and then suddenly weren't for several days. Now at 6w I have nausea and my sore boobs are back! Don't panic. I was stressed out about it too, didn't "feel pregnant", but I certainly do now!

GlassLily · 14/06/2021 02:55

@Slk3558 How's it going? Any more symptoms?

Slk3558 · 14/06/2021 09:18

@GlassLily good morning. Currently sore boobs / nipples are back .. feeling a little nauseous day by day. I have intermittent twinges/niggles .. did another test yday 18 dpo to calm my nerves. Don’t know why the control line is thick but I guess that’s a dye stealer? How are you?

Thats a better one probably

Slk3558 · 14/06/2021 09:22

What you think of that frer

GlassLily · 14/06/2021 11:08

@Slk3558 looks brilliant! Developing nicely. Perfect dye stealer ✨ glad your sore boobs are back! My nausea had suddenly become very unpleasant... It's really not a fun experience!

Slk3558 · 14/06/2021 11:43

@GlassLily I had nausea with my BFP in feb ..it started about 4 weeks and couldn’t eat anything could only sip ice tea. Haven’t had it like that so far but I guess ever pg is different . Let me know how you’re scan goes on Wednesday im sure it will be great news ! x

GlassLily · 16/06/2021 11:35

@Slk3558 in disbelief - all is well! Saw baby, saw the heartbeat, and it's all good 🥰 how are you, any new symptoms?

Slk3558 · 16/06/2021 11:52

Oh that’s amazing news!! Congratulations, what a relief. Nothing new from me, sore nipples - had a bit of nausea yesterday but not too bad today. It’s the bloating after eating that triggers the nausea for me. 21 dpo today.

My allergies are playing up today and I’ve gone into a sneezing fit for the past 2 hours just non stop sneezing and blowing tissues. It won’t cause any harm down there will it ? 🥺

GlassLily · 16/06/2021 23:08

@Slk3558 wow so 5 weeks! What a great milestone ☺️ congratulations! Yes I'm finding if I just snack through the day instead of having meals, I feel much more normal.

Oh I'm absolutely sure sneezing and blowing your nose will be fine, I've read all sorts of "will this hurt the baby" and apparently sneezing is a very common early pregnancy symptom, something about your nose drying out? So it is absolutely fine! I worry too though about that stuff! But baby is safe snuggled up in its little sac 🥰

GlassLily · 17/06/2021 22:59

@Slk3558 in fact, I'm sneezing lots now!

Slk3558 · 18/06/2021 10:42

@GlassLily haha, I have a sore nose today because of all the blowing into tissues. I am feeling the nausea now, but it’s basically a sour taste in my mouth with a complete loss of appetite and a heavy bloated feeling.

I went to see the consultant yesterday as they booked me in too early because they went by my LMP but I ovulated cd 20, anyway I was only 5+1, she insisted on doing the scan anyway even though there was a chance we might not see anything. We were able to see the gestational sac and a yolk sac which she said was good indications. She wants me back in two weeks to hopefully see fetal pole and heartbeat.

She also told me to stop doing pregnancy tests 😂

@Free

The luteal phase is the best time to check your fertility hormones, you should take a blood test on day 3 of your cycle. e.g. vitall.co.uk/test/female-fertility and then you know whether everything is normal or is there an underlying problem. Good luck hun.

Also you can do it from home, I was so worried about this over the pandemic, but I guess it is still useful!

GlassLily · 22/06/2021 01:38

@Slk3558 that's so crazy, I ovulated CD20 too! Congratulations, thats great to get a positive scan so early on! I don't think I get another until 12 weeks now so I'm going a bit mad. My nausea has calmed down a bit this week which is a huge relief. It's still there but I don't feel anywhere near as awful as I did before. Haha yes I have stopped testing now! How are you getting on, have you managed to stop?

firsttimemummy321 · 22/06/2021 05:58

Sorry to butt in I started a thread about this a while ago but didn't really get much interaction now I've just seen this.

Where any of you with a short lp breastfeeding? I've had 6 early losses in a row where I've had a positive the. Started bleeding (one where I bled then had a positive that went negative that lp was 7 days) where I started bleeding 8dpo-11dpo was the longest. Not sure if it's related to breastfeeding or not as my little one is 15 months and doesn't usually feed a lot as is now eating and drinking so just for comfort like for sleep.

X

Slk3558 · 22/06/2021 08:17

@firsttimemummy321 I’ve heard there can be a correlation between breastfeeding and short LP, it’s caused by a hormone imbalance due to very high levels of prolactin (produced by breastfeeding). This can lead to weak ovulation and subsequently short LP (low progesterone). You can take vitex Angus Castus herb 1000mg to boost your hormone levels and lower pro lactin but not sure about taking vitex when breastfeeding xx

Slk3558 · 22/06/2021 08:18

@GlassLily I have another scan at 7 weeks which will be next week to check for hb, been having a wobble this week about boob soreness and nausea coming and going. Glad your nausea has eased a little bit xx
