Short Luteal Phase Gang!

Beau20 · 27/02/2020 09:05

I started a thread a while ago asking for success stories but now I would love to get all the girls together who are struggling to conceive with their short Luteal Phase!

Here's a little bit about me -

TTC #1
Cycle 7
28 years old
Luteal phase average 9-10 days longest being 11 days.
Ovulation CD17-18 cycles 26-28 days long

I have had 2 pregnancies before (both termination please no flaming) both conceived without even trying, one with my current partner of 6 years. I also had a chemical in January. My last contraception was Nexplanon for 1 year and before that I was on the pill for 10 years or so (which was when I conceived previous). I have been taking 50mg sertraline for 6 months then 100mg sertraline for 6 months after that and have just stopped completely today. This is the only thing I have been doing differently since I conceived last time so part of me thinks this may affect fertility.

I'd love to hear about everyone else's journey! x

Thanks everyone - I'll stop the B6 (and just take a much lower dose B complex) around CD18 then so as not to prevent Ov. I've also found previously that EPO can delay Ov a little, so I tend to swap to flaxseed oil capsules around Ov time. I find that EPO gives me EWCM for at least a week before Ov and when I stop it a few days prior to Ov the EWCM doesn't just stop so I should still have CM benefits for a few days after stopping.

I spoke to soon. I’ve started spotting so I think AF has arrived. Never seems to get easier each cycle trying 😞

AnonymousXXIX · 26/08/2020 14:04

I'm sorry @Molly3456 : ( Each month I am tempted to google implantation bleeding, and then stop myself when I remember how uncommon that really is.

For me, AF properly started yesterday afternoon and today it's really heavy : ( Wonder if it is worse because I had a 30 day cycle this time.

Boc86 · 26/08/2020 20:25

Oh I had no idea we were supposed to stop b6
So when in your cycle do you stop? And when do you carry on?
And is it just b6 or the b complex too? And what about Vit c?
I am ovulating cd19 then having a 9 day LP

Blossom428 · 26/08/2020 20:39

Sorry to hear that the wicked witch arrived @Molly3456 and also in full force @AnonymousXXIX - it really doesn't get easier! I hope you've got something to look forward to and keep yourself busy over the next week or so- I find that helps!
I'm also a lot heavier than I have been my previous cycles, but it was a very short cycle of 22days this time.

@Boc86 I take vitamin B complex all through the cycle and then just add vitamin b9 from ovulation to AF.
With vitamin C I just have those tablets you put in water, one a day. Not sure if you aren't meant to stop or start those though.

AnonymousXXIX · 27/08/2020 07:14

@Blossom428 we're actually visiting a friend this weekend (social bubble) so yes plenty to look forward to, and somewhat relieved I can drink haha. GP also finally called back yesterday and they're going to see if I can get a scan after all, to check for cysts and fibroids. They did say it may take a while though due to covid19.

Molly3456 · 27/08/2020 08:13

It’s so horrible when it arrives luckily I am having some drinks too tomorrow night xxx

@AnonymousXXIX I did a similar thing a few weeks back went to the doctors and they said I will have a letter through for an ultrasound to check. But said same thing to me it could take some time due to corona.

Has anyone tried preseed?

Boc86 · 27/08/2020 08:19

@Blossom428 thanks not even heard of b9, I’m on b6 and complex

AnonymousXXIX · 27/08/2020 08:34

I use b12 besides the b6 because it's meant to be good for vegetarians/vegans (have been for 20 years though and it's been fine so not sure if I really need it!).

@Molly3456 yeah we use preseed, but more because I like it as a lubricant than because I think it really helps with anything lol. I just like the idea that it doesn't have any bad chemicals. Wish it was cheaper because I would replace my regular Boots one altogether then!

Blossom428 · 27/08/2020 10:04

Sorry I meant B6* not b9 @Boc86*

Boc86 · 28/08/2020 05:22

Ahh haha!

Boc86 · 28/08/2020 05:25

@Molly3456 which cd of your cycle do you skip b6 and what cd day do you ov x

Molly3456 · 28/08/2020 06:48

@Boc86 last month I stopped from CD10 and I ovulated on CD16 instead of CD18. Then I continued taking it when I ovulated x

Proseccoprincess33 · 29/08/2020 10:36

@Boc86 I am sorry I missed your post and question. It wasn't private gp it was private fertility clinic I saw to get the progesterone. I just looked online and found one and made appt.

Someone also mentioned that at 19 their gp has said prog was low and inconclusive of ovulation. Its horrific how inconsistent advice is. Mine was 13.3 and I knew it was v low but gp said marginally low and even fertility consultant said it was a little low but nothing to worry about. Yet first month on prog I get pregnant! It's a lottery depending on who you see 🙄 xx

Boc86 · 29/08/2020 16:03

Thanks @Molly3456 i stopped it yesterday at cd15, no sign of ov I’m really hoping my opks start to get darker
I’ll definitely stop it each month before ov then and carry on after

Ah thank you @Proseccoprincess33 ugh horrid isn’t it because I KNOW I ovulated and it’ll drive me mad them saying I didn’t!

LauraJayne15 · 30/08/2020 15:17

Hi everyone, I’ve just found this thread and think I might be joining the gang. A bit about me...

TTC #1
Cycle 8
32 years old
Luteal phase average 8-9 days
Ovulation CD16-17 and cycles 24-26 days long

We’ve been TTC since Nov 19, but we took a break for a few cycles whilst I was at risk of redundancy earlier in the year. I’ve been tracking my cycle using Ovia/Flo for over a year and recently started using the Clearblue Advanced Ovulation tests. It looks like my luteal phase is around 8 days so I’ll be keeping track of this going forward.

I’m just about to read through the thread to see your recommendations and advice x

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 09:20

HI Girls.been on this thread since the beginning and just wanted to share that I've found out im pregnant GrinGrin so please try not to worry about a short LP. All I did differently was walk loads and started acupuncture. Good luck to you all xx

LauraJayne15 · 31/08/2020 10:16

Congratulations @Whilstwewait Grin That’s amazing news and best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy.

Funnily enough I’ve just text a friend asking for the details of the acupuncturist she used during IVF. I figure it will help with stress and anxiety as a minimum and creates some relaxing me time.

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 10:51

@laurajayne15 thank you. I did 4 sessions and now im pregnant. Even if i wasn't it was super relaxing. Maybe a coincidence but either way was worth going x

Proseccoprincess33 · 31/08/2020 14:14

@whilstwewait how wonderful 😍Congratulations. I am delighted for you. Funny I also did acupunture the month before I got bfp so there could well be something it that. And like you say it's so relaxing anyway so it's well worth it. Xxx

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 19:49

@Proseccoprincess33 Thank you. Can't believe its finally happened. Oh funny that you had acupuncture as well. I've worked its heard for a few people x

HumbleBee223 · 01/09/2020 10:15

Congratulations @Whilstwewait 🎉🥰 that is amazing news!!

I have just booked onto some acupuncture too. Does it hurt at all I have a phobia of needles ha ha

Whilstwewait · 01/09/2020 10:37

@HumbleBee223 it doesn't hurt the needles are so thin. Its like a tap. Occasionally will feel it a bit more if in a sensitive spot but no pain x

Boc86 · 01/09/2020 15:40

Wonderful news @Whilstwewait x

familybythesea · 03/09/2020 15:20

Hello! After reading endless pages of this thread I thought I'd say hi and introduce myself :)
TTC #2
38 years old
Luteal phase average 9-10 days
Ovulation CD18-19 and cycles 28-29 days long

I just wanted to reassure some of you and say you totally can get pregnant with a short luteal phase. Mine has been 9-10 since ttc #1, and I got pregnant within 3 cycles last time.

I also got pregnant first cycle when ttc #2 but sadly had a missed miscarriage in March. Since then I have had 2 chemical pregnancies. In my case I am worried that the short luteal phase is a sign of low progesterone and it's this that is causing the miscarriages. I'd like to take progesterone from ovulation to see if it helps but waiting for a referral to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Today I had my day 2-4 hormone tests and I have a scan tomorrow. My GP didn't book the progesterone test so I am going to badger him for that when I get my results.

It's been interesting reading everyone's stories - I've just started taking vitamin B6 and C on top of multivitamins to see if that helps to increase progesterone.

Good luck to you all and thanks for this thread - it's nice to not be alone but I hope you all get bfps soon.
