Self insemination - Any success stories?!

Hi everyone,

I have NC'd for this to save our blushes!
DH and I have just had our first round of IVF which was sadly unsuccessful after an early miscarriage.
We have 2 frozen embryos but we would like to TTC naturally for the next 6 month's first in the hope the IVF hormones might help boost our chances.
DH has always struggled to ejaculate inside me when DTD. Therefore we have decided to try self insemination in the hope it will take away some of the stress.

I would love to hear any success stories.

Also which insemination kit did you buy?

Has anyone tried a soft cup / Ferti Lily conception cup after inserting the syringe to help things along?

@LAG1986 hello! Just repeating others advice re. Not inserting past the cervix/anything into the cervix. It can cause problems, introduce infection, cause air bubbles etc.
When done in clinical settings they wash the sperm first before inserting.
Lots of people have success with the needless syringe method (I know several lesbian couples who had friends provide the swimmers). Good luck!

@MrsKin90 I’m good thanks, 10dpo today and getting ready for my holiday tomorrow. I have packed 1 FRER and my mooncup so all bases are covered 😂 I have 2 but only packed one so I am forced to wait until it will give me a definite result. No symptoms really this month other than insomnia but that started on ov day so can’t be anything to do with pregnancy. Hoping no symptoms is a good thing as last month I had tonnes and it was BFN. How are you getting on?

I'm 6dpo today 😊 after not ovulating until CD26, but FF only confirming at CD29 it feels weird to suddenly be 6dpo already but at the same time still 8/9 days until my period is due so forever away!
My tww 'symptoms' don't tend to start until 9dpo according to the apps I log on. Have had some headaches and bit of acid reflux but nothing massive 🤷 I just wish bodies would make up their minds and that every tww was the same so it was a bit more obvious if we should be excited.
I'm hoping you get your bfp on your holiday! Did you say where you were going?

I’m going to Croatia (planned way before corona so feels a bit weird to be going anywhere but here we are). AF is due on Tuesday so I’m going to wait until then. We’re with family though so would basically have to tell them straight away as my mum Would immediately smell a rat the second I pass up a glass of rose 😂

Well hopefully it'll be a lovely break! I'd go away in a heartbeat if everything didn't keep getting cancelled/if a 1 week holiday didn't need 3 weeks worth of time off work.
In a way that might be really lovely having to tell your mum straight away!! 😊 Fingers crossed that's the case.
Will it ruin your holiday if AF arrives whilst you're away or will you be distracted enough to feel okay so you think?

According to Ovia I've only got 5 days till my fertile window 🧐 suspect it will be a wee bit more given that I'm a few days late with my🩸.

I probably won't test until my period is due so 14dpo at the earliest. My LP has been a bit all over the shop with it going up to 17 days before but 14 is my average and I usually get a bit of spotting a day or so before and then I'll not bother testing at all.

@MrsKin90 nah, I'm in full flow 🩸 now 🙄 Just before it started I took a cheap morrisons test and it came up as a very faint positive so pretty convinced I've had a chance iCal pregnancy, dissapointed obviously, as if my hubby, but nothing we can do about it.
I'm pretty certain about my dpo so it would have been too late to have been implantation bleeding and by 10pm my AF was here 🤷‍♀️

Oh Carol I'm so sorry. That's rubbish. I bet you're both so disappointed. Make sure you're looking after yourselves and being extra kind to yourself as well. ❤️

We'll be trying both ways anyway, I think knowing that we can turkey baste it had taken the stress away loads for my hubby anyway x

I’m 7DPO today - fingers getting itchy to reach for that test but must stay strong!

My miscarriage was confirmed on Friday afternoon. Very sad about it all - my second MC. Yesterday also my friend had her baby. Feels like my dream is gliding away from me...
I have postponed my IUI consultation for now, I don’t feel ready for it.

Why is it I'm surrounded by pregnancy announcements!!
Just got a message in a work group chat saying that one of the guys wives is pregnant !
That's two guys on my shift who's wives are expecting and a lassie on my shift pregnant as well as two who have not long had their kids and another one , who's a friend, only has a few weeks left 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Having a 'why the fuck am I not able to get freaking pregnant' moment right now !!

Ahhh I hate that. Seems to be everyone in the world but you doesn't it? I often feel the same but I imagine it feels much worse for you right now.
I try to remember very calmly that it's all relative..it doesn't help but it's nice to pretend to be sensible!!

@Carol1980 tell me about it! I'm sure we are just super sensitive to news like that at the moment but it does seem like everyone but me is pregnant at the moment...

I know exactly how you feel the girl I sit next to at work is pregnant and she talks about being pregnant all the time, I have to pretend that I’m fine talking about her pregnancy all the time, she got pregnant first go to! I’m like oh how lovely but inside I’m like why haven’t I in a year! I am happy for her but breaks my heart it’s not happening to me too.... x

My friend has another baby two days ago - a day after my miscarriage. The whole day my whatsapp was full of congratulations messages on a friends group to her. I am so drained - physically and mentally.
Keep thinking if and how I could have prevented this. It’s just all too much.

Since I have TTC DC2, 3 colleagues have gone on maternity leave 💔 I skipped a virtual baby shower recently.

@AdriannaP you done as much as I could have done to stop the MC. You can't, even with all the will in the world, change what your body decides to do.
The way I look at it is, there's nothing wrong with us, so that means it was simply not a viable pregnancy x
Don't beat yourself up about something that you literally have zero control over x it was honestly not your fault xx

@AdriannaP that sound so hard, I can't even imagine. Sometimes I think you need to distance yourself from baby related stuff around you to protect yourself until you're ready, although it'll always come back around so you can't hide from it forever. Are you looking after yourself and talking to your DH about it? 😟

@primrosechill I'm 10dpo. My BBT and RHR on Fitbit are both following my usual pattern and I'm right where I was at last tww with both so that doesn't bode well really! Hoping, but hopes not very high.

Had my mum's funeral today so feel really sad, not sure how I'll be if/when AF turns up but hopefully I'll have some perspective from everything going on.

@LuckyFlash @primrosechill AF came eventually. Kinda put me in a bad mood because I am normally so so regular, so got my hopes up ☹️
This month I’ve really not tracked, I’ve not pee’d on any sticks and we inseminated only once on my predicted ovulation date according to my period trackers.... probably not the best route to take but I just wanted a break this month, if for nothing else just so that my mental health was good as it’s putting me a bit down because it seems to be taking forever (and I know that just a few months is nothing in the grand scheme of things and for how long some people have been trying for)
