Has anyone TTC DTD before their first period after miscarriage?

I miscarried 3 weeks ago and haven't had a period yet.. was told to wait to TTC after AF but I have loads of egg white cervical mucus today and just so tempted to DTD and see what happens! Any stories or advice anyone can share please??

Go for it, why the hell not if your ready and have stopped bleeding Smile

ChampooPapi · 22/11/2019 12:50

@danielasummer it could be the lurg so keep calm woman! It felt very similar to early stage pregnancy before I went down hard.

Though doesn't mean pregnancy isn't also happening of course, but no early testing for us! We will be strong and wise and not open that Pandora's box this cycle at least. On a positive note being Ill passes the time Grin

danielasummer · 22/11/2019 13:20

@champoopapi just a little sore throat and tired is all. The days are thankfully going quickly as it is but just can't be bothered to be ill on top of all of this!

From your post on the other thread, it sounds like we both have irregular cycles then. It's good news that the test was negative after 5 days though. Keep me updated if the dreaded AF arrives.

I'm totally the same as you - would rather not know if it’s a chemical and just test late. Thinking of waiting a little longer than my app would tell me but who knows when I’ll cave?!

It would be SO amazing but to be honest I’m not holding out much hope because I have some weird things going on right now with EWCM a few days ago and no rise in BBT so I have no clue what’s going on in here!! Making it hard to know when/if I’ve even ovulated. I will probably test in a few weeks or three weeks time. What about you?

I have an internal scan booked for tomorrow to make sure the miscarriage didn’t leave anything behind, so I will ask them there if they can see any very early signs of pregnancy (and probably get a big slap on the risk for trying before a period). We shall see!

All the best to you too. We’re in this together x

Hi ladies and sorry to hear about your losses.
I am on a really friendly board which some of you might find useful. There is a strong community of ladies on there with a wide range of experiences including a number who have multiple losses, fertility issues etc, so it's a great place to share any questions / fears you might have.
My own personal experience was that I conceived on the second cycle after my miscarriage, having taken a year to conceive in the first place, however I went on to miscarry again at 8 weeks. This time round I've actively taken a couple months off TTC which has been a really wise decision in terms of my mental health, it has been good to just enjoy life and do some fun things with my DH (holidays, cocktails!) without the constant obsession. Like you I have long and irregular cycles - have you spoken to a doctor about this? I'm under referral to our local fertility clinic due to mine (also I'm over 35) so having investigations which might help going forward if I don't conceive again naturally. I have a clotting issue so I've taken blood thinning injections during both pregnancies, but unfortunately that hasn't been enough so far. It's a stressful time but hopefully we will all get our rainbows in the end!

@Avocuddles hi lovely, thank you so much for posting and pointing me in the direction of that thread.. I am now on it and making my way through the posts (there are so many!! - which is great).

I'm so sorry for your miscarriages - there are no words, so I won't try and string any together, just to send you a virtual handhold x

Yes, I've been to the doctors about my cycles (before I got pregnant as I was worried they would hinder me TTC) but they didn't take me seriously (I'll turn 28 in March, so they didn't seem too concerned.. even though it's keeping me up at night with anxiety), then I got pregnant and miscarried at nearly 7 weeks. Now I'm so worried pretty much about TTC and miscarrying again. It's an emotional nightmare rollercoaster. x

@danielasummer I had three miscarriages after two of them I got pregnant immediately before a period.
Both were sticky and ended up as babies.
Good luck xx

@troppibambini I'm so sorry for your miscarriages x thank you for sharing your story.. hope I have a sticky one this month x

@danielasummer so sorry to hear the loss you and others went through. Going through a similar phase now.. got to know on 12 week scan that baby didn't grow past 6 weeks. Have a follow up scan on Monday but have started having some bleeding.
Feels good to hear positive stories. And I'm also wondering when to start ttc again.. So drained emotionally.

Did the result come positive for You?? Wishing you all the best for a healthy baby and pregnancy 💗

danielasummer · 05/12/2019 12:03

@Bee1710 hi lovely. I'm sending you a hand-hold through this rough time xx so so sorry for your loss and wishing you luck and strength for Monday.

I haven't yet had a period but my temperatures have dropped since ovulation so I think my period may be approaching in the next day or two. Will start SMEP next cycle so fingers crossed.

Wishing you all the best, too. I will say that it does get a little easier every day and the pain, after a while, becomes more manageable. Please PM me if you want someone to talk to xx

@danielasummer thank You!!

Pls keep us posted. Wish you all the best 💗

Bobbyflay · 05/12/2019 13:30

There’s little evidence to show it’s beneficial to wait a cycle or two. The Doctors only tell you to wait to aid with dating the pregnancy. It’s a throwback attitude from pre scanning times.

Advise this colloquially by multiple obstetricians

Shelvesoutofbooks · 05/12/2019 13:32

I got pregnant straight after an mc and before my period. Think 3 weeks after the mc.

Hoppinggreen · 05/12/2019 13:35

Yes, we dtd 1 week after my mc and she’s almost 15 now
I was pg for a bloody year!!

danielasummer · 07/12/2019 20:25

Hi all.. thank you so much for the advice and well-wishes Flowers

AF turned up yesterday in full force! So I will be trying SMEP next cycle in the hope that I get pg soon (desperately missing being pg :( and a bit of an emotional wreck at the moment! Stupid hormones!)

I hope you're all keeping well x
