I've changed my name for this.
We're coming to the end of fertility treatment - we've had our last go at IUI and I'm waiting to find out - in the next few days - if it's worked. I don't think it has as the days weren't quite right and I don't feel remotely pg - just pre-menstral.
We already have one gorgeous child and have been ttc number 2 for so long now - complete with treatments and miscarriage etc etc and are both just done in by the whole thing. We have given ourselves permission to stop. But I'm just so sad about it all. About acknowledging that there'll be no more little babies (I've kept all the stuff just in case)and about ours never having a sibling and so on.
I just wanted some support really - this is going to be such a difficult week and I feel very down about it all.

Aloha I'm 40...don't know if I can confess to my normal name yet...I will do, but this just needs to feel a bit less 'new'. Alreadysad is wrong though - I'm definitely not that this morning!

How wonderful alreadysad. I just started reading your post and was trying to think of something useful to contribute then read that you are indeed pregnant. I have everything crossed for you

Are you pg too Mancmum? Or have you been through it all and come out the other end? I can't believe it really. I keep telling myself it could all go wrong but have just such a huge grin on my face this morning....
Also want to give anyone who's going through the hell of fertility treatment a massive hug.

That is great news - you've brought tears here - we are just starting cloimid after 2 years of ttc no 2 and your story has buoyed me along. Best of best of luck for the pg.

alreadysad, I can't believe what I've just read - what fantastic news!!! And even better news that you're my age - you give me huge hope . Huge hugs to you, and all my fingers are crossed for you and babysad (that doesn't sound right - definitely time to change your name!) to have a wonderful, healthy pregnancy and birth.

alreadysad1 · 27/09/2004 20:10

Hester, I've been thinking of you and I'm glad that I've cheered you up - I just can't believe it. I keep telling myself that it's early days and it is, but even to have managed to conceive feels miraculous. I'm wishing you all the luck in the world and if you want to exchange emails I'm more than happy to get in touch - at least I'll know exactly what you're going through. Mancmum - I just read back through the msgs - sorry for asking for info you'd already offered.
Thanks to everybody for posting - I haven't told anyone except for DH (obviously) and the lovely nurse at the hospital who's looked after us for nearly 5 years now. So it's really fab to have mumsnetters to share it with. xxx

I'm 41 and conceived at 40 too. We're really not that old!

Marina · 28/09/2004 09:45

And I had a bonny babe at 40 last year too. This is just tremendous news, alreadysad. Every finger crossed for you this time round, I am sitting at my desk and beaming here!
Do "come out" and tell us who you really are when you are ready, I have my suspicions and am REALLY hoping they're spot on

GRMUM · 28/09/2004 09:56

Wonderful news. I just want to say that I hope everything goes really well and that you have a happy, problem free pregnancy.I too have a suspicion about who you are... xx

hester · 28/09/2004 18:51

Marina and Aloha - I love you both
