Hi all, anyone else using their resting heart rate to track ovulation? I've been doing it a few months now (much easier than temping). I usually ovulate around my peak which happened this month and then it drops until af arrives but this month it's rising again (7DPO) 🤞😆 Anyone doing it? Let's see your graphs? Here's mine AF at start ovulation just after the peak according to OPKs. Xx

I didn't know you could use heart rate to track ovulation! Sounds interesting, how does it work?

Bloodylegoeverywhere · 04/09/2018 09:29

I've just started to use my fitbit with tracking.

ImpatientMammy · 04/09/2018 09:35

@Purplebeans do you know when you ovulate etc? If you look at your graphs work out where your period and ovulation was you should see a pattern.
Ooh exciting @Bloodylegoeverywhere how's your graph looking this cycle? X

I only started last night so havent checked my chart yet. Will let you know 😀

Kescilly · 04/09/2018 15:39

I don’t use mine to predict ovulation but I did just graph a few cycles the other day. I think the trends show a peak around O and then another at the back end of my luteal phase. It starts dropping at the beginning of my next cycle when AF appears.

Kescilly · 04/09/2018 15:59

@ImpatientMammy I removed the numbers but here you can see three of my cycles. My cycles have been irregular so I centered them on O, which is the blue line in the middle. There’s a margin of error because I’m using the CBFM to test for O and estimating based on that, but you can see some general trends.

@Kescilly I find I get a heads up that af is coming as my RHR drops just before. It's good to see it all on one graph like that x

@Kismett no it's all really interesting I managed to take my RHR and put it as temp into fertility friend by putting my lowest RHR as the lowest temp they would accept then adding or subtracting each day accordingly. Fertility friend can't find my ovulation based on this cause the trends are different to temping so I've set it to OPKs but it works I'll show you this months. I'm glad I found someone as excited about this as I am. My periods where at the start of each month so shown clearly on Fitbit but this month I've had delayed ovulation and mucked it all up 😂 x

You can add resting heartrate to the chart with the "chart duo" feature. This is my chart this month. My hr doesnt seem to correlate as well to ov as others state, but theres a definite trend.

ImpatientMammy · 04/09/2018 21:07

@CNizzle how do you do that? I don't temp anyway so it's not a huge issue but I'm sure it's easier than converting x

TreasureInMyTummy · 04/09/2018 21:43

My heart rate goes high once a month on Fitbit but in between the end of my period and ovulation so I'm not sure it's particular helpful? I was wonderinb if it correlates to something else like the moon lol

CNizzle · 04/09/2018 21:55

@ImpatientMammy just under the chart there's a button "chart duo" you can just have 2 charts overlayed, or add a numerical value like RHR. I just log my temp in the morning as usual, then add my RHR later when I check fitbit.

ImpatientMammy · 04/09/2018 22:33

@TreasureInMyTummy I suppose it's a sign ovulations on its way? Or is the gap to big for that? X

OP posts:
TreasureInMyTummy · 04/09/2018 22:37

@ImpatientMammy not really about a week/10 days before ovulation. It's odd isn't it lol x

Monipop84 · 04/09/2018 22:54

OP I posted on this same topic a while ago here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3325319-My-graph-Correlation-between-BFP-and-Fitbit-resting-heart-rate Smile

catlady3 · 04/09/2018 23:00

I'm now plotting my RHR alongside my temp in FertilityFriend, loving it! Only got one complete cycle with temps, but based on Fitbit data, I think my RHR more or less follows the estrogen level, i.e. rises during fertile window, then drops around ovulation and rises back (and higher) after. Whereas temperature seems to (roughly) follow progesterone levels, which is lower prior to O, then higher after? Don't know what the science says about that correlation, though.

@Monipop84 sorry I didn't realise the thread was still going x

@catlady3 that's an amazing insight might have a google tomorrow and compare mine x

Hey gang, just reading some of your posts! I got really into the RHR tracking when I was trying to conceive.... I'm now 13 weeks so something worked 🙊🤰🏻 But if you type in on google "FITBIT & TTC" there's an old MumsNet thread on there from some lovely ladies who started it a year or so ago and have had their babies and still comment back to this day.... 😍🙌🏻 They helped me with mine a while back! @ImpatientMammy Hope it this helps....

And of course good luck to all, I hope you get your BFP's soon 🤞🏻 🎉🙌🏻🤰🏻

catlady3 · 05/09/2018 13:21

My first attempt at uploading a picture ;-) This is an image from the FertilityFriend "course" on charting etc., it's really useful (get one lesson per day by e-mail). Anyway, this is where I'm getting the thing about temp following progesterone and RHR following estrogen, roughly. It's really fascinating stuff and I'm certain I wasn't told any of this stuff in school! Isn't that a big oversight? Anyway!

That’s really interesting, @catlady3! Next you’ll need to start uploading pics of your cats. Smile

I’m going to have a search for those other threads when I get a chance. If they’re not active, hopefully more people will post here.

ImpatientMammy · 07/09/2018 14:45

@Kescilly I think the ladies are saying people are still available to help on the other ones.
I've noticed the past few days my diet has a huge impact on my RHR so it's confused my chart a bit this month. It's really interesting though getting to know my body better x

I thought I’d come back to update this thread. I got a BFP a while back and am currently at 10+3.

My RHR rose slightly after ovulation and didn’t fall when I would have expected my period. It peaked around when I expected AF, then stayed near that for about a week.

In weeks 5 and 6 my RHR began to fall each day until it was near my usual AF values. I started feeling worried as it fell because I knew there was a high risk of miscarriage in those early weeks. I wasn’t bleeding but worried it would be a missed miscarriage.

Eventually I decided it was stressing me out too much and took my Fitbit off. I had a scan at 8+5 and was pleasantly surprised to see a heartbeat. I haven’t had another scan yet, but obviously the fall in my RHR did not mean an immediate miscarriage.

Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to put the info out there in case anyone else goes through the same anxiety. Good luck to all you ladies. :)
