So.... first baby πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ™πŸ½πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ™πŸ½ Meant to be ovulating tomorrow. Main challenge atm is keeping things fun with the husband and not making him feel like a baby making machine πŸ˜‚ How’s it going for other hopeful first time mummy’s?

@Fredthespider Hi! Welcome 😘 I think my other half finds it hard to being scheduled takes any fun and being spontaneous out of it! Defo worth not trying to schedule but just doing it and not planning it. ( maybe as a woman keep an eye on it and know when to!) I'd say get some supermarket ones in before Sunday and see what it does! X

Fredthespider · 17/05/2018 20:19

Thanks for the warm welcome @Delilah7 :) Using the Clearblue ovulation kits has prompted OH to ask each day what the result is, so he's showing an interest which is great, but also means I can't be sneaky. As it was the first cycle we didn't know how many 'high' days we would get before 'peak' and we ended up with 6 high plus 2 peaks days so that was a little more than we'd expected! Onto symptom spotting for the next 10 days haha

Delilah7 · 17/05/2018 20:23

@Fredthespider I've considering them! But is it much off what flo says? Great that he's showing interest! I didn't mean be sneaky I meant just try be spontaneous more! X

@Trying1stBaby I'm so so sorry, sending lots of love and hugs your way, cant imagine how it must feel x

@OrcinusOrca Omg I miss the pill - the one I had, Femodene, is really good for skin apparently. Took it all through my 20s, never spotty, now I'm like a pizza!Shock

Hi everyone,

It’s so nice to read this thread and see so many others saying out loud what I’m thinking/wondering!

I’m also sorry to read some of the disappointing news though and wish you the very best of luck moving forward.

We’re in to month one of ttc. I came off my pill last year in preparation for us to start trying this year but due to a house move we’ve only just started.

I’ve downloaded the Flo app and love how insightful it is! Fingers crossed it helps as I have no clue after being on the progesterone only pill for so long (it meant no cycles pretty much for most of my adult life).

I’m 34 and although from a family of women who tend to have lots of children even in to their 40s, part of me can’t help but worry about the late start.

The first month of trying was interesting and didn’t feel natural - more β€˜forced fun’. How on earth can we spice this up?! πŸ˜„

I had tender breasts and stomach cramps the last two days so got excited, only to AF today - 1 week early!! Was so disappointed! Bought chocolate and prosecco to console myself... I promised myself I wouldn’t obsess about it, but it’s tricky isn’t it?

Wowthisisreal · 17/05/2018 22:06

I know how you feel @ErikaSt! If AF comes I have a bottle of white in the fridge waiting for me πŸ˜‚

ErikaSt · 17/05/2018 22:22

The only upside I tell myself! πŸ˜„ One day I’ll actually be excited that I can’t open one 🀞🏻

Delilah7 · 18/05/2018 06:21

@ErikaSt hi Erika! Very very hard not to obsess I'm with you. Are you sure it was a period, I know that sounds silly but all I read about is implantation bleeds. They can seem like periods aswell as withdrawal bleeds can. Lovely that you are interested in Thai thread. I love talking to people about it. Spice it up by trying not to schedule that's one thing my partner hates hahaha. So I have to just get sexy once I know my good week is in πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ x

ErikaSt · 18/05/2018 07:19

@Delilah7 Hello πŸ˜ƒ

Sadly, I don’t think it is. I did at first because it was different to usual - that pinky brown spotting I’ve read about.....which also didn’t help the excitement! Kept telling myself not to get my hopes up, but then it turned into the usual stuff by lunch time 😏

21 days is about right for me. Last month I went 28 days and got my hopes up thinking we’d inadvertently nailed it without β€˜trying’. Even did a test! I’ve been reading other threads and apparently it can take up to a year so perhaps I’m being impatient.

Is anyone else using the Flo app? I’ll try your β€˜get sexy’ tip @Delilah7! I tried that last month but he knew what I was up to, so I obviously wasn’t that good at it! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Delilah7 · 18/05/2018 07:23

@ErikaSt I'm so impatient too so if it doesn't happen quickly which I know it won't anyways I'll feel disappointed. I use flo and do find it very good. Just whether it's reliable. Trust me for me to be sexy is a big deal hahaha. I had bad experiences in the past so I have a lower sex drive than my other half which has caused some rows. But now we are baby making he loves it hahaha x

rosesandponies · 18/05/2018 08:44

@ErikaSt Flo seems good for me so far and seems accurate, @Delilah7 uses it too. I've also started using ovulation strips - which horrified the husband when he found my 'pee cup' in the medicine cabinet (thoroughly bleached I hasten to add) further adding to the feeling that trying for a baby is about as erotic as a G8 summit... I've tried doing some light massage - got some nice massage oil, dim lights and 'see what happens' sort of thing which also helps him relax into it a bit. Trouble is weeknights suck because he is massively stressed and tired from the City and the commute... the struggle is real! I'm also in my early 30s and it's weird after having spent my 20s terrified of pregnancy, guzzling morning after pill etc to now feeling like it's so hard Confused

@rosesandponies I could have written all of that! Grin

Delilah7 · 18/05/2018 09:01

@rosesandponies have to let me know how they work. I wonder if flos accurate with them?! Oh gosh the pee cup. I find it hard to pee on a pregnancy stick so it's gonna be a difficult one for me when we need to! & weeknights are just a chore I find sometimes anyways because if we are both tired or had a bad day that's the LAST thing on my mind. I hope it gets easier for you x

Fredthespider · 18/05/2018 09:38

@delilah7 I haven't downloaded an app yet, we're part of the clearblue study at the moment so just using that. I don't know how it compares to an app, but as I'm not long off the pill I didn't think the apps would be able to cope with the lack of a proper cycle if that makes sense!

I looked into the different apps originally, but couldn't decide on which one was the best one to get, how are you finding Flo?

Settled on some Asda pregnancy tests today, they say you can test four days early... then I've just made the mistake of reading the reviews and apparently they're rubbish... ugh. Never mind, if it's an ambiguous result then I'll be rushing out to boots to get an expensive test!

Delilah7 · 18/05/2018 09:42

@Fredthespider I find flo good, just have to adjust when your period is normally ( well for me I do as t can be a few days out ) then it starts to remember!

I wouldn't buy a massively expensive one yet but that's because I'm tight πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I've bought some FRERs for when I need to... when you say dpo does this mean after you've done the fertile week it's days past your ovulation day? As mine was yesterday x

Fredthespider · 18/05/2018 09:47

@Delilah7 DPO is days past ovulation, mine was on Wed, so you're only a day behind me :)

Delilah7 · 18/05/2018 09:48

@Fredthespider how exciting! So when's the normal time you'd take a test? I wonder if it'll work. I didn't go toilet straight away. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ x

Fredthespider · 18/05/2018 09:57

@Delilah7 oh I know that feeling, it was weird not doing the ceremonial waddle to the toilet πŸ˜‚

I'm planning to test next Sunday morning (11DPO). From reading the boards here there are some who will test at 9DPO with a FRER, but the chances of a false negative are really high so I'd rather wait a little and have it be a little more accurate. Even then I'm thinking 11DPO is still early, I might see if I can hold out a little longer, but I'd prefer to test on a day when I don't then have to rush off to work so the bank holiday Monday would probably be the latest lol.

Delilah7 · 18/05/2018 10:03

@Fredthespider my other half was like why aren't you rushing to the toilet like normal πŸ˜‚ the waddles so embarrassing.
I have heard 12DPO is a good time to test too. So maybe try hold out till Monday morning if you can?? I'm excited for you! X

rosesandponies · 18/05/2018 11:40

@hamandpease hahaha - good to know I'm not alone!

OP posts:
rosesandponies · 18/05/2018 11:43

@Fredthespider @Delilah7 I just use cheap tests - I'd definitely recommend waiting I tested 9 days P.O. which was stupid - I just feel rubbish now because it was negative but then there's still a part of time that's hopeful and wondering if PMS is pregnancy symptoms, period due in about a week (5 week cycles) Where are the best deals for tests? I can't find less than about 4-5 quid each

@rosesandponies I got my frer ones from amazon. Two for 7 something I think!
