Hello ladies,

My husband and I are planning on starting a family this year, we have some financial things to sort out before we plan to officially start trying but as a first timer I’m just keen to gage an idea of how quickly other women have become pregnant?

I’m 26, so is my husband and I have (generally) regular 30day cycles. We just use condoms so no contraceptive to work out of my system either. I know we’re all different but I just wanted a rough idea of what to expect really.

Thank you!

DS1- aged 28- condom leak
DS2- aged 31- first cycle.. was actually first time we dtd after deciding to try, we don't have regular sex so I could pinpoint the day Blush

We decided to start trying in the new year (I had come off the pill a few months before) and I conceived on 1st jan...so WAY quicker than we expected. I was really anxious I would have fertility issues (I'm 33, DP is 38) so it was a massive shock when I got my positive so fast. 12 week scan on Monday!

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 09/03/2018 18:47

Implant out 9th Jan, BFP saying 2 weeks pg 13th Feb. I was 32. We weren't actively trying until my periods came back but not preventing either.

First pregnancy 2 months, second 4 months my daughter 8 months after that. So 18 months total trying to get my little girl

phoenix1973 · 09/03/2018 19:37

Approximately 30 seconds

BathtubPorn · 09/03/2018 19:47

You really have zero idea what to expect from asking others.

I have friends and family who took years, had rounds of clomid, IVF babies, "natural" twins, 5 minutes...

DH and I sat having a beer one day and said "shall we have a crack at it, we're not getting any younger and it might take years" ... DS was born 8 months later (prem).

You just have to take your chance.

Fell pregnant the day we decided to start ttc. I was 27 and he was 30.

Equimum · 09/03/2018 19:48

I was just 30 and got pregnant on my third cycle of trying, following a coil removal.

stellarfox · 09/03/2018 19:54

I’m 27. On 5th month of TTC now!

Yogagirl123 · 09/03/2018 19:55

First month DS1
First month DS2
I count myself as being very fortunate. Good luck OP wishing you happy news very soon.

DramaAlpaca · 09/03/2018 19:56

It took 11 months with DC1. I was 28.

With DC2 I conceived immediately, which I didn't expect at all.

DC3 took 4 months.

CoodleMoodle · 09/03/2018 20:01

DC1 was 14 months. I have PCOS and DH has a slightly low count. We were about to start appointments for fertility treatment when we found out I was pregnant. We were both 24.

DC2 (due July) was about 12 months, but that included me coming off the pill and my body adjusting. We're both 28.

muffyduffster · 09/03/2018 20:52

With DD I was 36, been on pill 19 years (including running packs together for seven years with no break), had endometriosis on one side, history of early menopause from my mum and her mum... said to dh that we should maybe get cracking and that it "could take a year, if it even happens at all".
Positive test second cycle after first period, and then this pregnancy was first cycle age 38. Appreciate that I'm very lucky (I think I inherited my other nan's fertility if it's hereditary, my DSis conceived very easily in her 30s too).

Oliack1417 · 09/03/2018 21:10

First month both times, at 35 and 38. We were very lucky.

PasstheStarmix · 09/03/2018 21:16

Happened straight away in the first month; both 31! We worked out that we conceived as soon as I came off the pill. We were shocked to say the l way as expected it to take longer. We haven’t tried for a second yet.

PasstheStarmix · 09/03/2018 21:16

the least

PasstheStarmix · 09/03/2018 21:18

if it’s genetic there’s no fertility issues in my entire family. I’ve no idea what determines how long it takes.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/03/2018 21:29

A month. Both times.

xyzandabc · 09/03/2018 21:33

Together over 20 years. Only ever used condoms. Apart from when already pregnant, we have had unprotected sex 4 times. We have 3 children! It can happen.

rebelrosie12 · 09/03/2018 21:34

First month for both of mine. I was 26 and 29

MaryShelley1818 · 09/03/2018 22:33

On the pill for almost 20yrs! I’m 38yrs old (turned 39 whilst pg) and DP was 40yrs old (turned 41 whilst I was pg). It took us 5mths and my 13wk old little boy is fast asleep next to me.
We consider ourselves very lucky, now trying to decide if we chance our luck and try for a sibling at the end of the year! (At 40 and 42 😬)

gossipgirl28 · 10/03/2018 08:42

Stopped the pill in December 2017.... no positives so far. I'm 28 and OH is 31 and we are both very fit and healthy.

marthiemoo · 10/03/2018 08:55

Came off the pill in August 2016 and my period came back in March 2017. I was totally unprepared for that, it's very weird when you've been trying not to get pregnant your whole life to suddenly find it taking much longer than you expected! It took about three months to conceive once my period had returned but I had a miscarriage in August 2017 at 11 weeks, then another four months before we conceived DD on New Year's Day last year. She's now five months old :)

Definitely track your cycles, I used Clue which was great. I had regular (long) cycles but it turned out I was ovulating very late and without tracking I think I'd have missed the window.

MmmMalbec · 11/03/2018 08:41

Came off the pill in December 13, normal period back in April 14, pregnant in May 14. So very annoying waiting for my cycle to return. Second time we started trying in May 16, pregnant in Dec 16.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 11/03/2018 08:45

Wow, lots of very quick pregnancies here! Took us 7 months but then that one, and the the next two pregnancies, ended in early miscarriage. Took us 18 months from starting TTC to get one that, so far, has stuck (am nearly 22 weeks now).
