Hello ladies,

My husband and I are planning on starting a family this year, we have some financial things to sort out before we plan to officially start trying but as a first timer I’m just keen to gage an idea of how quickly other women have become pregnant?

I’m 26, so is my husband and I have (generally) regular 30day cycles. We just use condoms so no contraceptive to work out of my system either. I know we’re all different but I just wanted a rough idea of what to expect really.

Thank you!

The first time we had unprotected sex. I was 39, and we were both completely shocked it happened so fast. We were expecting it to take years, if it happened at all.

timeistight · 09/03/2018 13:26

First cycle both times. I was 27 and 33 and DP similar.

sirlee66 · 09/03/2018 13:26

2 years. Both me and DH were 26 when we started, fit and healthy. Now expecting our boy next month!

Don't panic if it takes longer than you expect.

VileyRose · 09/03/2018 13:28

Five years - came off pill at 26. And only with assistance! Everyone's different.

Stoped using contraception in may 2007 fell pregnant in June 2012 was 28 years old. Now trying for the next one. Started trying in late 2013 now it's 2018 and still nothing. Had a few very early miscarriages.

1 year and counting. We're both 28.

Two months for first pregnancy, miscarried at 10 weeks. Two months after that I got pregnant again, little girl is now 9 months old.

userabcname · 09/03/2018 15:07

First time we tried. I had been off hormonal contraceptives for a while so we were just using condoms before as well. Good luck!

anotherchangetomyname · 09/03/2018 15:25

1 month.

At your age 80% of couples get pregnant within 6 months. 85% within 12.

Jestem · 09/03/2018 15:25

First pregnancy - wasn't trying
Second pregnancy - second month of trying

I was 24 and 27 so about the same age as you.

Luxembourgmama · 09/03/2018 15:25

About 4-5 weeks at 34.

Magpie24 · 09/03/2018 15:36

Magpie24 · 09/03/2018 15:37

Oh and my cycles are very short so that's about 14 cycles

Wifelife · 09/03/2018 15:45

First cycle 3 times, very lucky

k567 · 09/03/2018 17:12

Aged 31, had implant taken out, waited for one period so I had an LMP. Tracked my window of opportunity using an app called pink pad and it just took the one try. Good luck

Chienrouge · 09/03/2018 17:17

1st time 13 months.
2nd time... on the pill and had only had sex once that month!

MrsMarigold · 09/03/2018 17:42

1st time - moved house, mislaid contraceptives, accidental, aged 33. Miscarriage.
2nd time - aged 34, had stopped using condoms and it just happened, ruptured ectopic.
3rd time aged 34, less than six weeks after ruptured ectopic.
4th time aged 35, DC1 six months old, first period got pregnant again.

InteriorLulu · 09/03/2018 17:47

Both took six months. Both were following a house move. I am not moving house again Grin

Got pregnant in first month of trying. Started folic acid 26th Dec 2016, had a period 28th Dec and got pregnant on that cycle. I think the advice is to take folic acid for 3 months before getting pregnant. I didn't think I would get pregnant right away though.

I used seven seas "trying for a baby" folic acid & multi vitamin tablets.

Apparently it's better to have sex every second day rather than every day so we roughly went for that.
