TTC while breastfeeding

DS is 13 months now and BFing 2-3 times a day/night. Would love to try for number 2 but periods came back in October and still all over the place and I seem to have a super short luteal phase (AF arrived today 5 days after OV, earliest yet!) so I'm expecting a long wait.

I noticed that there was a support thread for those TTC while breastfeeding a while ago and was wondering if there were others out there who fancied joining me on a new one?

It’s so frustrating when you don’t know how long your cycle is going to be. I’m on CD30 now. Had mid cycle spotting CD14, EWCM CD20 and 21. DTD CD7, 17, 21 and 22. Fertility friend says AF due yesterday, but based on EWCM, could be as late as next Thursday/Friday.

Been having af cramps past 3 days, but no af yet. Aggghh!!!!

More frustrating as had af cramps for days when got pregnant with DD.

Pindlesandneedles · 31/03/2018 18:29

That’s really frustrating doom. It’s really cruel that so many early pregnancy symptoms are the same as AF. Keeping fingers crossed for your BFP or at least AF so you know where you are and can start again!

I poas this morning and bfn so I’m guessing all the symptoms I’ve been having are just my body gearing up to start having AF again. I’ll be so glad when it comes back and I know where I am!

Pindlesandneedles · 31/03/2018 18:31

How’s everyone’s easter weekend going? We’ve been enjoying a bit of sunshine. Got out in the garden today. Looking forward to a collapse tomorrow with a roast. I’m hoping to get a cheeky bath if I’m lucky!!

jpclarke · 04/04/2018 10:46

I got bfp this morning, thought I seen a faint line yesterday but I just knew I was pregnant before I even did the test. I am scared of my life now as it's number 4. I haven't even told my dh yet.

doomkittycleo · 04/04/2018 12:50

jpclarke congratulations Flowers. I’m sure you’ll cope, we always find a way. I hope DH, takes the news well.

My AF arrived this morning, so I’m just gonna eat some Easter eggs and enjoy a cuddle with DD.

jpclarke · 04/04/2018 17:51

Sorry to hear that af arrived, but at least you know your periods are normalizing. It was a tried for and wanted pregnancy. We both felt we didn't want to have regrets and it was going to be our last month of trying. But it was really the first month I can actually say I know we did it at the right time. I am scared and delighted altogether!!

Pindlesandneedles · 04/04/2018 18:29

Congratulations jp that’s amazing news!! Did you tell dh yet? Flowers

Sorry af arrived doom but good to know where you stand and hopefully be able to track your cycles and dtd at the right time!!

No updates from me. Still getting cramps but no af. Hope it turns up soon so we can start trying properly!!

I got pregnant with babies 2,3 and 4 whilst breastfeeding. Obviously with my first I wasn’t and my last baby (no5!) took 5 rounds of ivf then an operation so couldn’t bf during any treatment
Once my periods returned I found i ovulated straight away

doomkittycleo · 04/04/2018 18:37

Hedgehog we took 2 years and 3 rounds of clomid to conceive DD, they just said I wasn’t ovulating, but didn’t have an explanation as to why. That’s why I’m nervous of it taking a long time again. My periods were regular and I got positive opks and ewcm and a BBT shift every month, so even if I think I’m ovulating, there’s no way to be sure.

Hedgehog80 · 04/04/2018 18:40

I was the opposite-opk always negative (I think due to pcos though) my only sign was ewcm and if I’d had a scan they would confirm ovulation
It’s hard isn’t it I hope it works out for you x

SweetheartNeckline · 04/04/2018 19:40

Congratulations JP we are also ttc #4 and I am bfing a 2yo. Had what was I guess a chemical pregnancy last month (faint pos test then period later that night). I am fairly sure I am Oving regularly and my periods are 30-32 days apart so hopefully it will happen soon.

Have got pregnant with DD2&3 while bfing so hoping it will happen soon for us. We have decided we wouldn't go through fertility treatment or anything if it doesn't happen naturally which is a scary thought.

igglewhat · 04/04/2018 20:03

I had replied to this thread but have name changed - I stopped BF 15 months and fell pregnant the following month. Unfortunately I miscarried at 5 weeks. X

igglewhat · 04/04/2018 20:06

Sorry it wasn't this thread - it was another similar one. Good luck ladies x

jpclarke · 04/04/2018 22:41

I would suggest taking co q 10. I had a similar experience to you sweetheart when ttc #3 and it happened 2 months after. I am still feeding my 13.5 month old. Opk's are worth using too because it pins down ovulation. Good luck to you all. I will keep you all updated.

noor9587 · 05/04/2018 03:44

Congratulations JpClarke! Hope you have a great pregnancy journey and a healthy baby. What were your symptoms before/after your missed periods?x

jpclarke · 05/04/2018 16:14

Thanks noor, I had headaches, just that feeling the cramps always feel different. Very sore boobs especially when baby was feeding. And sorry for tmi creamy white discharge, were my symptoms.

Wolfgrrl · 05/04/2018 20:19

Ahhhh jp congratulations! I'm so pleased for you and your DH. How long had you being trying for #4? I hadn't heard of coq 10 - I'll look it up, thanks. Will it be a Christmas baby then?

Wolfgrrl · 05/04/2018 20:25

doom sorry that AF arrived and that you had to go through so much to get your DD. So did they think you weren't ovulating even though you were having a BBT shift?! I have heard that having a baby can kick start your cycles a bit and give you a different cycle so hopefully that will have happened to you. How long have you been trying now?

Wolfgrrl · 05/04/2018 20:27

noor sounds like you have had some well tired BD! I've got my fx for you Smile

Wolfgrrl · 05/04/2018 20:27

pindles I'm still waiting on first AF here too!

FuzzInsideMyBrain · 05/04/2018 22:16

Hello, may I join in? I'm bfing my 9 month old and my cycles have not returned yet.
Trying a few different things to see if I can get my body to ovulate.

Great to see a bfp here, congratulations jp!

doomkittycleo · 06/04/2018 07:30

Wilfgrl yeah I had a BBT shift every month that coincided with the ewcm and positive opks. But blood tests showed low progesterone on day 21 bloods. (I went when I thought I was 7dpo, not when I was actually on cd21).

Pindlesandneedles · 06/04/2018 18:50

Welcome fuzz! When you say you’re doing things to start ovulating what do you mean?? I thought it was just cut down on bfing? I’ve cut down loads and still no sign of af so anything else I can do would be great!!

Pindlesandneedles · 06/04/2018 18:52

wolf it’s a bit boring isn’t it? It’s so frustrating that af could arrive tomorrow or in a few months. Really don’t want to stop bfing but wondering if I might have to to kick start my cycles?
