TTC 2 years
Had 4 chemical pregnancies

For next DET transfer I will take Pred (10mg) along with aspirin/heparin for APS.

I When is the best time to start on the Pred? My doctor says start on morning of transfer? Shouldn't I start earlier so that my body is used to it and starts working first?

When did you start Pred?

JustLa · 07/09/2017 19:31

Hi user, welcome.

Sorry for your negative experiences so far.

Most of us have been told to take pred from ovulation for 10 days then test for pregnancy and continue if pg.

The reason you don't start earlier is you want minimum time on pred so if you get a bfn you don't have to 'taper' off the drug to avoid withdrawals.

Hope that helps

Tee4me · 07/09/2017 20:23

Just blood test was fine, will call for results on Monday 🤞🏻
Hi User, welcome. Day of transfer sounds spot on to me 👍🏻
Had a decent (but def not positive) line on opk this afternoon, but pretty faint when I retested in the evening (and was fairly faint when I woke up too). I wonder if LH generally fluctuates each day. If I don't get a peak tomorrow I'll be very confused and won't know what to think, other than my body is struggling to ovulate?! Hope for a clearer story tomorrow!

Seeking, love the big balloon with 'Big Sister' on for Tallulah to hold 💓 its important to be excited and happy for her sake, to get her ready for big sister duties! And GOOD LUCK re the nuchal - how incredibly exciting!!!

Harriet, why don't you need the intralipids anymore or am I confused? My complex plan calls for them monthly from 4-16 weeks! Wtf!? I agree it's sensible to go for the 12 week nuchal at the clinic, or sod the clinic and go free at NHS... you're so young and low risk, and the NHS will pick up on any risk and you can have the harmony. I will do harmony as I feel old and need the reassurance - so I may not bother with clinic nuchal.

I'm confused about all this mix and match you guys are doing - I thought the treatment was set, and if you didn't have the scans/intralipids on your plan then Dr S ditched you?

Wow Sunny, your Facebook mates must have got a shock at the sight of a sudden newborn 🤣

I'm sorry you feel so vulnerable Just, but I get that you want to go a bit stealth and reveal all once the wee one is here. I'm going to PM you now as I want to know the sex!!!! I say.... girl 👱🏼‍♀️😝

Sheepy, how's your pookie - taking a pounding lol! These conception boinks are intense! 🤞

Hi User, sorry you've had 2 such shit years... it's draining and awful... I don't know what 'transfer' means - ovulation ?

Annoying Tee... I don't use that type of OPK, so don't exactly know what you're looking for - I really hope the pred hasn't messed stuff up... what's the plan if no positive test over next few days?

Tee4me · 07/09/2017 21:31

Ooo Just I'm totally gonna PM you too!!
No plan Luna, freak out?! Panic?! It's never happened before, I get a steadily progressing line which always peaks. Never had it go back to faint after a strong line. But then again I haven't tested in evening before. Maybe I should jump on board the smiley face thing! x

Hi all,

Seeking I love the balloon idea! That's so sweet. And what a lovely onesie; you're creative with your reveals and nice photography :)

Just, you're at the point that you might as well go public; after the first trimester any time is as good as any other, right? No one can accuse you of jumping the gun.

Yeah I'm excited too about my next O day, it's probably actually going to be October 1 because this is a short month. I will use the Clearblue OPKs as ever; flashing smileys in the oestrogen surge run up, solid smiley when the LH surge kicks in. Luckily I am with DP every day from next week until at least mid October so fingers crossed!

In answer to your question about the plan, I started taking the Pred in March to get prepped, started TTC again in April. Had two accidents in March around O day, DP forgot it was my fertile window twice, doh, but I didn't get a positive OPK that month or April. Started getting positives in May but DP had a work trip five days before O day so don't think that counts! All in all, the only month we got an OPK and definitely had a proper shot in the fertile week was June because we may have been a few hours late in July and he was away in August. Having said that, I did get pregnant let time without a positive OPK as I had given up testing and based on my dates I Od about a week after I started getting flashing smileys.

Amy - any more progress with The Secret? I am trying so hard to put time aside to chill and calm my mind. Did some adult colouring last night (apparently the most ghastly, self-absorbed, middle class bullshit ever, according to an article I wrote). My friend got all the girls beautiful colouring books and pencils for Christmas because she's into relaxation. (And she is not ghastly, self-absorbed OR middle class!) Worked a treat for 45 mins or so and then I got neck ache.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, I feel like I have and now can't find the message! Lots of love to all and hello User and any other newbies I haven't acknowledged yet x

LunaB · 07/09/2017 21:42

Get on smiley face train... and deffo not great to test at night, so let's see what tomorrow first pee shows... then call Dr S and get in for SO? Oh and freak out obvs! Ffs... fucking Pred

PoppyJ1 · 07/09/2017 21:43

ARGH!

*last time not let time

Don't get a Mac, the auto corrector is a complete fascist.

LunaB · 07/09/2017 21:49

Flipping heck Poppy, I was half way through a reply asking you to tell me more about your fabulous job as a writer 😂

Do you think the Pred messed up your 1st two months of ovulation?

How have you been in general after this long on the Pred??

How lovely you and OH have some nice proper time together ☺️☺️☺️

PoppyJ1 · 07/09/2017 22:02

Luna, sorry, I AM a writer, lol, I'm a freelance journalist and I mostly write about finance. Boring, I'm afraid! But somehow I misrepresented myself in my post!

Yes, I am pretty sure the Pred messed up my ovulation and cycles in general; started the Pred in March, and had two periods, the first a week late and very light and then I got the proper one later. Took loads of pregnancy tests in terror of chemical pregnancy but seems it was just the Pred. I am luckily only on 5mg and after I had some ill effects my endocrinologist told me to split the dose and have half at night and half in the morning. Much better! I'm a few pounds heavier but that's all.

Curious to hear concrete examples of Dr S ditching women for failing to adhere to his instructions! Shock

LunaB · 07/09/2017 22:22

Aha - you are a writer, just not about colouring in 🤣👌

Hhhhmmm funny old thing Pred....

Re Dr S, it was the impression he gave me... like I wouldn't be allowed to skip the scan and have the intralipids or vice versa... made me angry 'cause I'm not rich and at that point particularly I felt very suspicious of him and these £££ mega expensive intralipids... these days I don't really care about anything just want to fall preg and then I'll just do what I gotta do!

Seekingmiracles · 07/09/2017 22:52

Basically Luna, because I fell of this time without having had some of the tests DrS would have liked me to have had he said I could decide myself wether to stick to the high plan or assume the worst and go for complex plan. Because I feel a bit suspicious of the money side of things too I decided to stick with high.
But if you're 'on holiday' over a certain period I'm sure you could ditch a scan or two??
I asked to have intralipids without a scan for my second dose and they said no. I kind of think the first two are important, the second two (if on complex) not so much, by that point baby is big enough to fight the Nk cells itself. That's how I've been led to believe it worked anyway.

Seekingmiracles · 07/09/2017 22:54

Also does anyone fancy a secret Facebook group?? I have one with another group of Mumsnet mates and it's far easier to chat!!
Unsearchable, invite only kind of thing. No one will know. And then just can tell us all what sex the baby is Wink

harrietm87 · 07/09/2017 23:03

luna I'm meant to be on intralipids until 16 weeks too, and I do plan on continuing them, though I will ask him next time I see him why they are needed after 12 weeks.

I'm meant to have intralipids at 4, 8, 12 and 16 weeks, and scans every 2 weeks (so as above plus 6 and 10 weeks). But because of Mr S's holiday my 8 week scan + intralipids were at 9 weeks, and now he's scheduled my 10 week scan (no intralipids needed) for 11 weeks.

Since that's so close to when I can have the nuchal and my third intralipids dose anyway, I reckon I may as well skip the scan and I don't think Mr S can really complain as it's his holiday that put everything out of whack. Sorry for long explanation - hope it makes sense!

How are you doing with new cycle? When does BF resume??

poppy you're sounding so positive- really great everything sounds on track for this month!

tee sorry about confusing opks. I think LH levels do fluctuate throughout the day and month, and I guess it might be possible to get more than one surge (or do the eggs from non-Id twins get released in the same surge?!). Hopefully you will get a clear positive tomorrow - is that when you're expecting it?

PoppyJ1 · 07/09/2017 23:08

Thanks all for the encouragement!

Seeking, yes please to a secret FB group!

Tee4me · 07/09/2017 23:12

Harriet how can he disagree with that, as you say, his holiday altered the timings in the first place!
Yes I'm really hoping for a positive tomorrow, then ovulation Saturday. Maybe my 'sample' was really diluted this evening.
Seeking I'd definitely be up for a Facebook group! Think it would be a lot easier to chat and follow everybody's stories!! x

OP posts:
Seekingmiracles · 07/09/2017 23:13

Oh tee... LH does surge throughout the day, I'd recommend testing maybe twice a day, same time each day. Also depending on how much fluid you've drunk your lh could be weaker.

harrietm87 · 07/09/2017 23:14

seeking I like the idea of a fb group, but also wouldn't want to lose this one as I know I found the previous threads so useful when I first had my mcs and was deciding whether to go with Mr S - we still need to be able to round up newbies! Maybe we can still do both!

Very pleased I know what just is having 😍

Seekingmiracles · 07/09/2017 23:15

Need email address to add you all to the fb group. Feel free to pm me

JustLa · 07/09/2017 23:39

We decided a while back to go public at 16 weeks 😊 Just not sure about FB reveal. Although, a pumpkin painted belly would be fun... would need a clever slogan, hmmm.
Can't wait to wear tight tops and show off this magnificent beast of a bump! 15 weeks tomorrow so won't have to wait long!

So you haven't had a really good go of it then Poppy. Could you just boink every day from day 10-16 and double on flashy face and day after? (Fragrance free Lube and Doggy reduce chances of UTI- sorry haha, it's a very real threat!)
Lol @ your colouring comments! I bought a book on the cheap before they were a big thing, have never used it!

Yes to FB group, love the fact it's secret!
Not sure if anyone could guess what a 'moonface Wobbler' is anyway?! Haha

Xx

JustLa · 07/09/2017 23:43

I've been recommended the headspace app by a lady it worked for, who is currently pg and needed help after losses. I knew of the app but didn't realise there was a conception/pregnancy package.
Anyone else know about this? Think I'll give it a go!

Immune/NK issues - aka Pred Thread no. 21!
PoppyJ1 · 07/09/2017 23:52

Just - do you have a maternity style wish list?! I do on Pinterest! Started with a summer one but now have stuff for all seasons!

Nah, the only way I can time reliably is OPKs. My fertile day doesn't correlate very well with AF (I've been known not to bleed but still ovulate) so I generally measure the days from O to O as a guide to start testing. I get O pains too several days before it happens. Both times I got pregnant from having sex the day before O day so I feel it's crucial timing!

Harriet - good thinking about keeping the thread up even if we go to FB. Is a nice system here and important to pick up newbies.

JustLa · 08/09/2017 00:10

Poppy, I have a nursery item list 😍. What do you mean by maternity wish list? What sort of things do you have in there?

I just had massive chat lag and a tonne of messages turned up that were posted before my last.

Harriet, I've thought about the effect it would have on this thread for some time. It could potentially make it easier for newbs to join in? We are very chatty and probably hard to follow unless you've been in the convo for the past 10 pages, haha. I would still check in here often for sure

Seekingmiracles · 08/09/2017 00:12

Definitely still do both. Just nice to put a face to a name etc.
Newbies can pop along as and when they like it feel ready to.

LunaB · 08/09/2017 07:26

Seeking, firstly great idea about the Facebook group, secondly - what do you mean you have other mumsnet friends - hussy! 😝

Agree that we need to keep the thread alive as it's totally saved me and feel it will save others too

I start OPKs on Sunday... then BF starts next week - careful BF this time... I've only just finished my 2-week course of antibiotics from that monstrous UTI I got last time!
