@DoraD amazing!
That's great to hear! I was wondering whether the pred will affect conception but it sounds like it hasn't!
I can imagine how you feel! I think you just have to take it one day at a time and have faith in Dr S!

@Megan234 thank you! AF arrived today- as expected! Please keep me posted on how everything is going and what treatment plan dr S puts you on.
I really hope to get lucky in August (we're apart in July annoyingly) but I can't wait to TTC again!

Megan234 · 28/06/2018 21:47

I went to see Mr S yesterday and it's not a good news. I have very high NK cells and borderline agreesive, also MTHFR mutation. If I wouldn't be pregnant he would put me on Hydroxychloroquine only for 6 weeks before pregnancy, but because I'm pregnant I have to take Pred as well to work immediately as HCH take 6 weeks to work. Also I had my first intralipid yesterday. It's a lot to take in and a lot of medication, I never take any tables and it scares me how much I have to take now and I'm worrying about the baby.😔

Megan234 · 28/06/2018 21:56

I'm just wondering if there are any ladies here who were taking pred 25 mg as well as Hydroxychoroquine 400mg and still had a healthy baby?

zarala · 28/06/2018 23:22

@Megan234 I totally get how you feel! I don't even take paracetamol when I have headaches - I avoid medicine usually- it just feels counterintuitive to take drugs to help a pregnancy!
I think though you should just put your faith in dr S and take each day as it comes.
I really hope these next few weeks pass quickly and uneventful for you and that you will soon be able to enjoy this pregnancy!
Did Dr S give you an indication of how hopeful he is for this pregnancy?
Fx you willl be fine!
Keep me posted 🙏🏽

DoraD · 29/06/2018 14:31

@Megan234 completely understand your concerns...I’m taking 20mg Omeprazole alongside the 25mg pred, 1500mg metformin, 50mg Levothyroxine, low dose aspirin & all the vitamins....and the intralipids. I’ve always been very anti pills but putting my trust in Dr S & feeling good on all the meds too. Take each day as it comes :-) it’s a good thing you’re able to get on the pred straight away as I believe it’s fast acting 🙌🏽

Megan234 · 29/06/2018 20:46

@Zarala @DoraD thank you for your kind words, Mr S would not give me an indication how successful this pregnancy will be.

DoraD wow you are on a lot of medication as well, how often do you need to go for a scan they told me I need to go every 2 weeks?

Megan234 · 30/06/2018 19:54

@Zarala @DoraD I've done another pregnancy test this morning and it was negative, went to the hospital for a blood test and they confirmed negative as well 😓

zarala · 30/06/2018 23:42

@Megan234 oh nooooo! I'm so sorry! 😔
What made you decide to test? Did you feel something was wrong?

Megan234 · 01/07/2018 09:09

I had some new preg tests delivered and decided to try one. At the hospital they said that cyclogest is stopping me from bleeding

zarala · 01/07/2018 10:57

Oh! Gosh I am really so sorry
Is cyclogest the progesterone?

DoraD · 01/07/2018 15:12

@Megan234 I’m so sorry to hear that. So sad & confusing :-( what pregnancy test did you use previously? Dr S recommends First response, but I always use the Clearblue digital with weeks indicater as they’ve always been very accurate for me. I’m so sorry again.

DaniMERL · 17/07/2018 13:15

Hi all,
I've never posted before. I am 37 and have a nearly 5yr old DD and have recently suffered my 4th miscarriage, all around 6-8 weeks but never natural and all have required surgery after long periods of static HCG levels etc.
I have been under Mr Swanton's care at the Royal Berks for over a year and they've done all they can, it would appear. All of my tests have come back clear and I think I've had everything checked except for AMH and NK cells. I was originally skeptical of the NK cells theory (opinion heavily influenced by NHS consultants) but have recently realised there's not a lot to lose (except for a fair amount of ££).

I visited Mr Shehata privately yesterday. I saw it as our last attempt really and don't have very high expectations. That said, he was extremely positive and did make me feel a little hopeful and I'm just keen to speak with others now. Especially those going through treatment and those with success and failure stories.
I see there are loads of threads on this (is it 21?!) but it's really good to speak to people who are going through this right now too.

Thank you :)

zarala · 17/07/2018 22:13

Hi @DaniMERL
Sorry to hear about all your losses- it's just such an awful thing to go through
I am quite new to dr S- I have only been on his plan for 1 cycle, which we didn't manage to conceive on.
He diagnosed me with very aggressive nk cells so I am on predisinole from ovulation until 10dpo
If positive test then I am to continue pred and also start taking progesterone and also intralipids (which I am a bit skeptical about but too scared not to follow his advice!)
I was really anxious about taking the steroids but I am super happy to report I didn't have any side effects with them (so far!)

When do you get Your results ? In 2 weeks?
Hope they come back with an easy fix!
There have been so many amazing success stories under dr S so I am putting all my hope in him! Keep us posted on how things go!

DaniMERL · 18/07/2018 07:26

Hi @zarala
Thanks for the reply. We go back on 26th so super fast. I’m interested to know the outcome. It’s good to know things are going okay so far for you.
I will report back and would love to hear your news too.

zarala · 18/07/2018 12:19

@DaniMERL good luck for the 26th.
I will keep you posted. I am away from OH this month so hoping August will be our month. Fx for us both !
@Megan234 how are you doing hun? Hope you're ok?

Megan234 · 18/07/2018 12:42

Welcome @DaniMERL good luck for the 26th I hope that mr S can help you.
Hi @Zarala I’m better now, Ive been taking Hydroxychloroquine for 3 weeks I need to be on them for 6 weeks before I can TTC. I will be ttc in August let’s hope it’s a good month for us. Last week I turned 38 and I keep thinking that I’m running out of time and I don’t even have any children😞 but I’ve got to stay positive. I had some acupuncture last week, apparently it’s really good if you ttc and my acupuncturist has helped a lot of women to have babies. I hope you are ok too? Xx

zarala · 18/07/2018 12:55

Hi @Megan234
Lovely to hear from you and glad you're doing ok. But you're not running out of time!! Did dr S test your Amh? My cousins friend just had a baby at 46 naturally! So we have plenty of time!
I was doing acupuncture and drinking disgusting Chinese herbs for 2 months after my last MC- it really did seem to help. I was actually considering going back to it when I start my next cycle!
Fx for us both in August!!!

Megan234 · 18/07/2018 13:46

Thank you @zarala what’s Amh? Apparently we not suppose to drink any herbs because they can interact with the medication we are on. Also I went for my NHS appointment at the Epsom clinic and saw someone from Mr S team and she wanted me to start, first with pred and then if it doesn’t work out she would put me on HCQ. I’m so glad I went to see Mr S privately as I’m on HCQ now. I can’t wait to August, fingers crossed for both of us 🤞

zarala · 18/07/2018 14:04

@Megan234 ooh yes that's a good point about not drinking the herbs. I would rather not anyway because they were so gross!
When is your fw in August?
I think mine starts on 29th this month which is the day I get home! I've already prepped DH to brace himself for a week of sexy times! He says he's ready! Lol

zarala · 18/07/2018 14:06

@Megan234 sorry forgot to add AMH is the hormone that indicates your egg reserve and therefore a signal of your fertility
I requested he checked mine so I have a good idea of how much time pressure I'm under!

Drttc · 18/07/2018 14:22

Hey ladies!!

Just wanted to update and say our little girl was born safely at the end of March! So although our first was a pred baby after 4 consecutive losses, this little girl was immune treatment free! It was very scary going it medication free the second time around- but here we are ❤️. Having two (under two) has been a dream come true. Good luck to all the mommas and future mommas on here!

Megan234 · 18/07/2018 16:11

@Drttc congratulations 😊
@zarala my fw should be around the 30/31st July, my DH is ready as well Lol sex on demand 😉 I didn’t have the ovarian reserve test done as I was pregnant last month, but they wanted me to have it done. I might do it this month x

zarala · 18/07/2018 16:19

Congrats @Drttc amazing news!!!!and so good to hear that we may not need it second time round!!!

@Megan234 oooh we may be cycle buddies! How exciting!

Megan234 · 18/07/2018 16:41

@zarala definitely 👍🏻

harrietm87 · 20/07/2018 09:19
