@Samcat237
Thank you so much that's very useful
What's hydroxyl for? ( sorry I'm amateur!)

Charms48 · 15/04/2018 11:42

Hi all,

Through googling mr s I’ve found this!

I’ve been through three losses and have one miracle baby.

After having two losses last year, I found mr S.

I’m just about to start the pre conception drugs and feeling super nervous, yet excited.

I can’t stop thinking that I’ll lose another one and be back to square one.

Has anyone ever ttc just before the 8 week mark of the pre conception drugs?x

zarala · 15/04/2018 15:51

Hi @Charms48
I'm sorry I can't really advise as I haven't even seen dr s yet! But just wanted to say sorry you find yourself here and good luck with it all

Charms48 · 15/04/2018 16:57

Hi @zarala, thanks for the good luck wishes. I’d never heard of NK cells before and then BOOM! It does all feel quite overwhelming, but I’ve read many positive stories (many of which on here while lurking) and it’s given me faith.

Hope you are able to get some answers. You’ll be in good hands with mr S. IMO he’s amazing.

FannyDaggers · 15/05/2018 14:52

Hi, I’ve just found out I’m having another miscarriage which will be my 7th with 1 live birth after the 1st mc. I’ve decided to email Mr S to see about a consultation - In your experience how long does it take for a 1st appointment to be set up?
I’m under my towns RMC and was taking heparin during this unfortunately unsuccessful pregnancy but aside from that my consultant didn’t want to try any other treatment as my miscarriages would appear to be unexplained. I am over 40 now and just want to make sure I’ve given myself every opportunity for a successful pregnancy before I draw a line and walk away from it.
Is there a Facebook group still going as I would like to join that if it is?

PoppyJ1 · 15/05/2018 22:03

Hi FannyDaggers, sorry about your loss. I hope you have the right support at home and through your regular doc to deal with it? I recently heard that Dr Shehata has quite a long waiting list but it can’t hurt to call the clinic and see what they have available. Regarding your age, I’m no expert but I truly believe there is too much scaremongering over maternal age and 40 is not unusual to have a baby these days. Considering the NHS raised the IVF cut off to 42 from 39 a few years back, there must be reasonable success at 40 for all kinds of pregnancy including natural.

Kit23 · 16/05/2018 06:29

Hi I’m new to this forum.

I have a DS who’s 3 and just had my 3rd early miscarriage since Sept 17 (all between 6 and 8 weeks).

I’m getting referred to Dr Shehata’s NHS recurrent miscarriage clinic (as I live nearby). I also rang up to find out about a private appointment and could get one at the end of June in Epsom but was told I couldn’t see dr Shehata on the NHS and privately.

I’m slightly worried by the cost of seeing him privately but also don’t want to wait ages to see him on the nhs and not clear on what the nhs will actually test/not test. Confused...

How long does it take to get an nhs appointment and what does the nhs test/not test?

Thanks very much

Samcat237 · 16/05/2018 06:37

Hi @fannydaggers & @kit23

Last year I had a 7 week wait to see him privately and then had all testing that day and had follow up and received my treatment plan two weeks later so it took about 9 weeks total going the private route. It has been pricey but I think he’s so full of knowledge and worth it. Don’t worry about your age I have a friend who is one of his patients had 9 losses and is now 28 weeks pregnant and is 45.

I’m not really sure about the wait on the nhs to see him but I presume it could be quite a while. I know all treatment options aren’t offered on the nhs and that you can’t mix and match, one of the treatments I’m hsving is intralipid and I know that his nhs patients aren’t offered it.

Hope this helps,

Here to chat if you have any questions!

FannyDaggers · 16/05/2018 07:28

Thanks very much @Samcat237 that’s really helpful to know. I hope everything worked out for you.

And thanks to @PoppyJ1 that’s reassuring to hear about age limits, I guess I’ve always thought all the losses were due to age as you read so much about declining egg quality after a certain age.

@Kit23 I’m so sorry to hear about your losses too, I hope you are doing ok and you get to see Dr S soon Flowers

I’m in hospital now waiting for medical management, hoping it goes as easily as possible Sad

PoppyJ1 · 16/05/2018 07:45

The MC rate at 40 is relatively high but not high enough to be the cause of seven out of eight pregnancies. (I think it's supposed to be 50% chance of MC or less). So that suggests another underlying reason that can be addressed by the docs.

All the best with the medical management Flowers We are here if you need to talk.

FannyDaggers · 17/05/2018 08:48

thanks Poppy. Medical management failed so trying again today. Had an email from Dr S’s office saying they have appointments from the end of June so that doesn’t feel too far away.

PoppyJ1 · 17/05/2018 10:26

Sorry to hear that. It can take up to 48 hours though, can’t it?

Good news re Dr S! That’s only a few weeks away.

Bala03 · 17/05/2018 16:13

Freetodowhatiwant · 17/05/2018 17:13

Ahh just seen on active conversations that the pred thread (this!) is still going and in its 21st incarnation. I started the thread back in 2011 when I had just been diagnosed with NK cells. I had some of the highest levels Mr S sees in his clinic and after one Mc on the treatment (which turned out to be chromosomal) I had my two dcs. I just wanted to say hello and wish you all luck. So pleased to see the thread is still going! I found it immensely helpful.

zarala · 17/05/2018 19:49

@Freetodowhatiwant wow! Thanks for sharing that!
I just had my first appointment with dr S on Monday and waiting for results
I am really nervous as the treatments sound really aggressive as I'm much more of a "naturopath" but I don't think I can deal with another MC (had 3 consecutive)
Can I ask what your treatment was? And was it the same for both DCs?
Did you find conceiving was affected with the regime?
Thanks again for sharing your amazing story!

zarala · 17/05/2018 19:52

@Bala03 congratulations ! Amazing news! Thanks for sharing!
Really gives me hope! I am just starting my journey with Dr S and I'm very apprehensive- drugs scare me! But he seems to have such a high success rate...really hope he can help me too

PoppyJ1 · 17/05/2018 22:04

@Bala03 Congratulations, my dear! I am so happy for you! You and your family must be over the moon. Well done!💕😘

JustLa · 18/05/2018 06:21

Firstly, huge congrats @Bala03 ! I bet he’s just gorgeous. My little rainbow boy is now 3 months and is perfect beyond words 😍

Good luck to all those that are travelling along this very difficult path. You’re not alone and there are so many success stories out there 😘 xxx

Kit23 · 18/05/2018 06:54

Thanks @samcat237 and @fannydaggers

@fannydaggers hope all is well with you. My MC seemed to end yesterday, which is a relief so hoping you’re nearing the end of it too.

@freetodowhatiwant @bala03 and @justla congratulations on your little ones - it’s great to hear some positive stories and happy endings!

I still haven’t decided between nhs and private. I’m going to see my gp today and hope that might help.

FannyDaggers · 18/05/2018 06:54

@zarala I would be really interested in hearing how you get on with your results and treatment plan as you’re a few weeks ahead of me, will let you know how I get on too x

@JustLa congrats on your lovely boy x

FannyDaggers · 18/05/2018 06:59

@Kit23 I think we cross posted! Glad to hear yours is coming to an end, I’m feeling a bit battered but think mine now over for the main part. I’ve got to call my NHS dr to see how I can get records of tests/results already done and then get my private appointment booked. Let us know how you get on, hope you’re feeling ok x

Samcat237 · 18/05/2018 07:01

Hey!

@freetodowhatiwant so glad that you came back and posted on here, last year I read back through every single thread and I found you so inspiring, the whole thread in fact!

I had one loss whilst on treatment in February and then got pregnant 13 days later and I’m now 12 weeks! I have full faith in mr S and his protocols!

Hope everyone has a sunny Friday xxx

Freetodowhatiwant · 18/05/2018 09:17

It's lovely to see the thread still going. I've slightly changed my username since starting it but I kept the 'Free' part.

Zarala my treatment was 25mg of Pred on ovulation, going up to 40mg once pregnant. I was the second person he tried on hydroxychloroquine. And also intralpids once pregnant, progesterone, aspirin and the vitamins. Don't be afraid of the medication, it's not that bad. I found 25mg of Prednisolone quite fun actually :) 40mg is not much fun for everyone but not everyone takes that and you're actually only on it for a few weeks before tapering and it is very much worth it. You soon go back to normal after stopping.

I made a film about it, if any of you want to see it I can post you a link.

harrietm87 · 18/05/2018 10:45

@Freetodowhatiwant yes please do post the link, and thanks so much for starting the thread and updating us!

I had my beautiful baby boy 4 weeks ago thanks to mr Shehata and the pred! I'd had 3 early mcs before that.

Huge congratulations to @Bala03 on your baby! And best of luck to all of you on the thread xxx
