Coming off Pill to try for a baby...

Hi everyone, I'm new to this so bear with me but I was just wondering what advice people could give me for how to handle coming off the pill. My husband and I are trying for a baby and coming off the pill has knocked me for six. I've put on weight (even though my diet hasn't changed and I walk a lot), my spots have come back (feel like a bloomin teenager again lol) and my mood is all over the place. My husband didn't even think it was possible to laugh and cry at the same time lol x Anyhoo any advice is welcome x I'm taking folic acid, vitamin d and with the advice from my doctor keeping on with my antidepressants which I've been on for quite some time. Will this pass or balance itself out coz I'm going to go loopy if not lol x

Try taking vitamin b12! I had no period for four months after stopping the pill. But has super bad cramps everymonth. Took b12 for two months and then my period started again with NO cramps which is a first for me. Could be a coincidence but seems like the vitamims are working. I was going to go to my GP for blood tests if I had no period but wanted to give b12 a try first as loads of people on here said its good to take. Maybe try this and see what happens.

Hi all,
I came off logynon at the beginning of January. Since then I've had a period about every 27/28 days but like my friend (un)helpfully suggested, it could be the pill still in my system giving me regularity as the periods are v light about two/three days long too.
In terms of how I feel, bloated and very spotty particularly on my neck which is soooo unlike me BUT DTD has become incredible!! After being on the pill for nearly ten years, I hadn't realised the effect it had on my sex drive but I just enjoy it so much more (tmi!!).
Nothing prepared me for the unknown though and the want to fall pregnant fairly quickly. We have DTD during the fertile week each month lots. I have used Opks and they seem to think I'm ovulating, well there's definitely a surge! I'm four months in and becoming to get a bit more alright with it being a marathon not a sprint but the support on here is just fab!

Insideout I have taken a few hpt and all negative, I will make an appointment with the doctor next week and see what supplements they can give me as I don't want anymore hormones in my body.

InsideOutUpsideDown · 17/04/2017 08:33

Penguin i understand, im the same, so fed up of not knowing what my body should be doing because of additional hormones grrrrrrrrrr. Littleone mentioned B12 i might try that after my bloods on Tuesday, im getting desperate now lol. CD48 now and feeling poo. Im just uncomfortable, hormonal and tired. Ive had an upset tummy for two days too, which im sure is probably stress, as everything i eat goes straight through me (sorry tmi) i get some cramps, think its my af but then it wears off and nothing. So frustrating. I did a hpt on the 8th (12 days late by my normal cycle) but it was a bfn, so now i cant be bothered to do any more. Im crapping myself about the blood tests and possible etc but on the other hand Tuesday cant come quick enough now. Ive been on the pill before and never had these issues and the fact that i was only on it less than six months this time but its affecting me like this is really getting on my (rather sore) tits now. I would definately ask for bloods if i was you, maybe you could try tracking when you ov too, that might give you a better understanding about whats going on and will help you know when to expect your af (sorry if you said you were already doing this)

littleemma1 · 17/04/2017 09:23

Hi all, jumping in on this one!
I am now CD 52 still with no AF.
Since coming off pill in December 2016 I had my usual withdrawal bleed and then 2 cycles since then, 1st was 6 weeks long and 2nd was 5 weeks long.
I'm now 16 days late for my projected AF based on ovulation, have had negative urine and blood pregnancy tests from GP now so I'm being sent for an ultrasound (were technically not using protection as using the withdrawal method hence the tests)
I have bad bad cramp pains like period pains both in my lower abdomen and back but no other sign of AF. Really hope there's no serious underlying issue when I go for the scan as will be starting to officially TTC soon.
How's everyone else doing? Xx

littleemma1 · 17/04/2017 09:26

Ps. I had the exact same symptoms my first months period as everyone else... sore boobs, nausea, bloating, they've died down now it's just horrendous mood swings and spots! Like someone said earlier my OH can't believe I can cry and laugh so hard at the same time. Sometimes I even think I'm going crazy so I wouldn't blame him for thinking it!

InsideOutUpsideDown · 17/04/2017 10:04

Littlemama how long was you on the pill for? Hope youre feeling better now. I had my withdrawel bleed first day of missed pill, then a 28day cycle as i had pre pill days, didnt even consider it wouldnt stay as that,3weeks later tomorrow.

littleemma1 · 17/04/2017 10:26

11 years. I remember first being put on it at 14 due to irregular cycle but thought with age it would settle down and that coming off it would be ok. I don't mind irregular cycles but the pain I've been in for 3 weeks is becoming unbearable now 😖 Xx

InsideOutUpsideDown · 17/04/2017 11:05

Ah im sorry, i feel your pain, its horrible and worrying too isnt it. I just feel so poo, i dont even know if i ov sojuat literally in limbo, stocking up on pads each time im going out incase af arrives lol. I just cant believe how messed up my cycle is after such a shortly time on bcp, just goes to shows you, never going on the pill again lol. Im considering doing another hpt today before going for bloods tomorrow just so im more prepared for bad news. Just want some kind of answer and to feel more human again, god im a moany cow.

littleemma1 · 17/04/2017 11:15

Well I sort of expected to be irregular but not in this much pain. I feel so crappy too, I'm so impatient which really doesn't help! I'm just going to wait until I've had the ultrasound and go from there

Littleonek · 17/04/2017 11:33

You guys have all of the same symptoms ive had for four months. Its not nice. Stress can also make your period late. I was only on the pill for four years and a few of my friends who came off it where on it years and got their periods back straight away. I think everyone is different and it doesn't matter how long you were on it for.

I might still go to the drs to see if everything is ok blood levels wise. Ive just moved house so I have to re-register with a new dr before I can get them checked.

Once your period is back all of your symptoms should go. Mine did even have a flat stomach again. B12 also reduced my stomach cramps. So worth trying just to reduce some of the no period symptoms.

littleemma1 · 17/04/2017 12:58

Hi littleone, I'm already on a variety of things to try and reduce symptoms... starflower and primrose oil, vitamin B complex, agnas cactus and going to get some folic acid as well.
Are you in a regular cycle now?

Sshsecretenclosed · 17/04/2017 13:03

I'm CD25 today on fourth cycle after coming off pill. I just have horrible horrible cramping. Hate the not knowing what my body is doing and worrying my heavy periods will be back this month and on a really short cycle.

Littleonek · 17/04/2017 13:57

Ive been taking folic acid with vitamin d (the d part because I normally get vitamin d defiency in the winter) since january. And b12 for the last month. Ive had one normal cycle this month, will wait to see what happens next month. I had a few mini cramps but my period was ultra light (you could only see blood on a tampoon and nothing if I just used a towel, sorry if TMI). Im just relieved my period started again as I was worried I might have poly cestric ovaries or a cyst as I always used to be on time before and when on the pill.

littleemma1 · 17/04/2017 15:37

I'm worried it's going to be something like that as well littleone. Will just have to see what ultrasound says on 25th. Can't come quick enough!

InsideOutUpsideDown · 18/04/2017 07:05

Blood test day today, dr wanted a urine and poo sample too, oh the joys lol. I just hope i get the (all clear) results back quickly, littleemma can you remember how long they took? I was so upset yesterday, i cried at eastenders lol. Cant wait for this af to arrive, permanant pms is no fun. I didnt bother retesting with another hpt, couldnt see the point, decided im just going to ride this out now. Hope you ladies are feeling somewhat better this morning, any af's yet? Im day 49 now, three weeks late Sad and was hoping to wake up to it today, thought it was probable she would show her face as ive got the blood tests today lol.

littleemma1 · 18/04/2017 07:36

Hey InsideOut
My doctors are really good, I got the urine results whilst in there and just had to call back 24 hours later for the blood results. I'm now CD54 and still waiting!

HOD32x · 27/04/2017 13:10

Can I ask you guys how your body is a few days after ovulation. Ive had my first month in four years of naturally overlating and ive had stomach cramps since sunday night on and off. Its like a mini period cramp but not as painful. Is this normal when you overlate? Normally on the pill I only had cramps on the day I was meant to overlate and then it went.

HOD32x · 28/04/2017 14:13

Ive been getting cramps when ovulating which can last for a few days, feels like I've pulled a muscle in my stomach x

Littleonek · 28/04/2017 20:15

Thanks, thats the same symptoms I have and if I go for a long walk they are a bit easier to deal with.

Do you get that every month?

HOD32x · 29/04/2017 21:24

Ive had it for the last two months x
