Honestly no wonder so many women quit the work force at this age. The pressure is so much.

Penguin27 · 20/03/2017 19:13

Oh grumpy that's a difficult one! You're clearly trying so hard to keep everyone happy - well done on taking some time for yourself by doing some yoga today! Your work situation really makes me think that women are still far from equal in the workplace, your needs clearly just aren't considered Sad

Penguin27 · 20/03/2017 19:14

Forgot to add ... I love than resolution wiggley!! It's definitely something I need to practice.

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 20/03/2017 19:20

Ooh love a bit of Roald Dahl. I bought myself an Edward Monkton calendar for my desk and he has lovely little cartoons with quirky captions. Love stuff like that.

Thanks for the positivity girls. I'm not going to starve myself this week. DH is away until Thursday so just enjoying a bit of quiet time.

Grumpy I so know what you mean about work pressures. It is ridiculous. I used to be one of those people who didn't really see the gender imbalances/ different treatment but that's because up until now it's not been an issue. You can see having children will massively impact career. But then I just think there's more to life and I don't necessarily love being a lawyer and so if I end up going in a different direction then so be it.

Wiggley - love Roald Dahl, that man knew what he was talking about with that one :)

Oh grumpy that’s so rubbish and totally unfair that you’re made to feel that way. I think because I work in the NHS (which is so women and child friendly) that I forget the pressures from other organisations. Can’t imagine. Stay strong though, you are completely entitled to make whatever decisions you want for your life. You can have a balance and that is definitely okay.

DancingUnicorn · 20/03/2017 20:34

I'm sorry, I need a little moan moment. Feel so unbelievably pathetic. Had to leave work early today because I felt so dreadful, had a two hour nap and already about to go to bed. :( I absolutely cannot wait for this stage to be over and to know my little kumquat is safe in there. My eyes actually ache from trying to keep them open!

Wiggley your self kindness sounds wonderful! Definitely something I could use!

Grumpy it's so hard, because you know men can make the choice to have children without having to worry about the implications. It's something I've thought so much about recently. (I'm sure some men do and obviously wish they could work less!! But just in general) I really hope your work surprise you and react well when you get your bfp hopefully later this month!

HbH04 · 20/03/2017 20:47

Roald Dahl fan also... can highly recommend the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden, super interesting!

Really love the resolution wiggley
I made a life changing one last year,
"Say No More"
Sounds mean but i really struggled to say no (work mainly) and used to end up doing stuff i didn't want to, in places I didn't want to go etc. I've got really good at it now and has led to pretty much a stress free life!

Oh grumpy sounds like you've got such a juggling act on... so unfair to feel judged for reasons that are beyond your control. At least you've taken steps to delegate like your life PA (still amazed this exists- i quite want to be one!!)

Feeling way better today... just a random off day clearly!Hmm

HbH04 · 20/03/2017 20:49

Aw dancing poor you... how long until you get to see your kumquat?

Seven0fNine · 20/03/2017 20:52

Awww Grumpy I don't envy the pressure you are under. The past few weeks I have been trying to adopt a better work/life balance and literally not allowing myself to work too late of an evening even if it means blagging lessons the next day (luckily my industry allows for that!)

Parsnips - I'm sure you look lovely in the dress. Don't worry and just be confident and it will look fab.

Jupiter Hope you are feeling OK. I'm an emotional wreck at the best of times (had tears today when y6 played 7 Nation Army on their instruments) God help when I'm preggers!

Home alone is quiet. Left DH boxers in the middle of the floor where he left them just because I miss him! Secretly enjoying the peace and just had a nice bath but I'm sure the novelty will wear off in an hour or so when it's bed time!

Seven0fNine · 20/03/2017 20:58

Oooh missed posts!

Dancing! Sending lots of love xxx hope you are feeling better soon. Go get a good night's sleep and you will feel better tomorrow I am sure xxx

Hb here here on the no! It's the way forward! Looking forward to your testing!!

buzzmoon · 20/03/2017 21:33

Those resolutions are great 👌🏽 I wish I could do that.
dancing so sorry you're feeling so bad :( really hope you get a good nights sleep and feel better in the morning!

seven enjoy the peace, he'll be back before you know it and you'll just be annoyed that he's left the boxers on the floor 😂

My DP came home with some good news! He's been offered a 'chat' after an interview he had last week! Not definite new job but promising!! Made me cry of course as has literally every single thing today 😂😂 and little Keith demanded garlic flatbread with his pasta bake, and I just couldn't say no. Going to be one of those pushover parents for sure, especially for the next 9 months whilst it involves carbs. 🤤

buzzmoon · 20/03/2017 21:33

Glad you're feeling better hb

TheGrumpySquirrel · 20/03/2017 21:38

Thank you ladies for your kind words and much needed Perspective! It's really ridiculous actually, that you can "have it all" - a (willing if not yet actual) SAH husband, a sodding Life PA, a great work ethic, but you STILL get judged negatively as a woman, it's so unfair I could cry! But I won't because work is not All Of Life.

Hb I think I would be a great Life PA, I'm so organised! Maybe I need to go into business!
Although I think mine had a bit of a shock last week, she's used to opening posh people's post while drinking tea, and I got her to de-clutter and reorganise DD's room (totally full of the usual pre teen crap) 😁

Dancing so sorry you are feeling rough, just think "this too shall pass" and be kind to yourself! Better to accept the tiredness and rest xx

TheGrumpySquirrel · 20/03/2017 21:40

Buzz Keith is hilarious.. and carbs are heaven!

Seven I know the feeling, enjoy the peace and quiet though! Maybe watch a nice film?

HbH04 · 20/03/2017 21:48

Me & Keith totally have the same taste!!!! 👌🏽

orangefolly · 20/03/2017 22:49

Evening everyone. I had a really healthy lunch and then blew it by scarfing down a load of mini eggs. I blame AB! Felling totally horrid and Mondayish today Sad

wiggley a great resolution!

buzz exciting about DP job! And Keith is the funniest bump name I've heard! Grin

grumpy I'm with you. Have you seen @manwhohasitall on twitter? parody account of how ridiculous society still is to women. Hope your work end up being decent to you over mat leave.

dancing hope you feel better

TheGrumpySquirrel · 21/03/2017 05:53

Orange yeah I follow them on FB! I love it, if you can't laugh you'll cry eh

confusedat23 · 21/03/2017 06:03

I'm with Grumpy I think its rediculous how much Women are judged in the workplace in general regardless of if we have children or not. But tbh Grumpy you have beaten the odds for someone who accidently got pregnant at 18 amd had to raise a DD whilst climbing high in the career ladder! This shows how strong you are and that even if you slip a bit having another DC you will be flying high again as soon as you get your chance!

Dancing how are you feeling today Love?... I completely understand and you are not Pathetic! These first weeks are so hard energy wise! We are weeing 3-4 times a night, the imsomnia is ridiculous, still working hard at work and our bodies are working a million times harder! I can't even cut up veg for dinner i'm so weak and i used to be such a strong person. Just think we are reaching the end of the 1st trimester in the next few weeks... if you need to stuff yourself with carbs to stay awake you go grab that cake! Also don't worry about your booking in this Sunday everything will be fine and it will be so exciting to get your notes!

Penguin27 · 21/03/2017 07:28

Morning all!

Sorry that you're feeling so rubbish dancing Flowers Listen to confused's kind words and go easy on yourself!

HeyJupiter · 21/03/2017 09:02

Dancing how are you feeling today? Sorry you were having such a rubbish day yesterday :( I can’t imagine how difficult it must be and the waiting is unbearable Flowers

Hb love the “say no more” mantra. I definitely need that one. My biggest realisation was that whenever I say no to something I don’t have to back it up with apologies or reasons. It’s okay to just say no sometimes.

seven I’m fine thank you :) I’m definitely a bit emotional most of of the time too so the next 8 months could be interesting!

buzz that’s fab news about your DH! You and Keith must be very pleased. Garlic flatbreads all round Grin

orange you totally needed the mini eggs yesterday (it’s a requirement of AB!) Hope you’re feeling a bit better today. DH Is going to post your lube over the next couple of days :)

confused how are you lovely? When is your booking in appointment? Can’t wait to hear all about it.

Couple of days off this end which is lovely.. swimming and seeing best friends new baby today and then tomorrow off to see my niece. It’s super sunny here too which helps. Have a lovely Tuesday everyone.

DancingUnicorn · 21/03/2017 09:20

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm still feeling dreadful, so allowing myself a full day off to hopefully recover. :( Feeling sorry for myself, but grumpy is right 'this too shall pass' which has been my mantra through many many years of shit.

Jupiter is it your brand new baby niece you see tomorrow?! How exciting!!

Confused I think I am probably dehydrated, as (tmi) yesterday weed at lunch time and then not again at all until this morning. :s Im trying to drink more today.

HbH04 · 21/03/2017 09:20

Ah is your niece the new baby jupiter or are we still waiting on that one?!

HeyJupiter · 21/03/2017 09:30

Oh no sorry, still awaiting new baby (sister is technically due tomorrow!!) but seeing her and 2yr old niece tomorrow before everything kicks off :)

Redpony1 · 21/03/2017 09:31

Mmmmmmm Garlic Bread Grin

DancingUnicorn · 21/03/2017 09:36

Still exciting Jupiter! Hope you have a lovely couple of days! Hope you don't find it too hard keeping your amazing secret! :)
