Stopped mini pill no period

Kate2930 · 08/02/2017 09:10

Hello,

So i stopped taking the mini pill on the 29th Jan and have had unprotected sex a few times since. I still havent had a period yet.. I havent had one when i changed to the mini pill last year.

Has anyone had any experience and how long did it take for your period to come back. Me and my partner are really excited to try for a baby but i want to know that i havent just messed up my body by taking the mini pill.

I did take a pregnancy test the other day just to make sure but it was negative.

Thank you

Hi emmi has af arrived yet?
I definitely think opks are helpful, I just use the cheap ones that you get on eBay and use them at 9-10 pm. If your af hasn't arrived you might be wasting tests as you could have ovulated already or you might not. But they are so cheap so you don't mind

excitedemmi · 21/03/2017 10:22

AF has arrived. I think I will get some OPKs. I just don't want to go down the rabbit hole on this one and find something more to stress over!

excitedemmi · 21/03/2017 10:22

Thanks Emma. Do you use them every day?

Emma2803 · 21/03/2017 10:52

I started them as soon as I stopped my pill and used them every day until I got a positive and then used them a few times a day the night after I got a positive. I haven't had my first period yet but expecting it on Saturday / Sunday this weekend and then we are gonna start trying. I used them last time when I had my little boy.
I will be using them from day seven of cycle. It can take a while for cycles to settle back and so hopefully ovulation will get earlier each month. That's what happened when I stopped last time, it took 5 weeks to ovulate first cycle then 3 weeks the second and cos I'd been doing the opk I knew I got my positive dtd and was lucky that it worked!!

Emma2803 · 22/03/2017 21:57

I've got my first period after my pill!! 5 weeks and 3 days since I stopped it. We weren't planning to start ttc until April so I'm really glad it's here but also a little sad that I'm not pregnant! (even though we were using condoms lol!!)
Also it's a few days earlier than I expected, I got a positive opk on Friday 10th but only did it randomly as I had been really spotty and achey back all week so not sure if it would have been positive on Thursday too? So really it's only maybe 2-3 days earlier? Maybe I have a shorter luteal phase?

xlaura · 02/04/2017 19:30

Emma I know I'm the same. This is only second proper cycle after coming off the pill..used to have 28 day and 1st cycle was 24 day so was going by another 24 day cycle which took me to yesterday and it's just made an appearance now so 2nd cycle is 25 day cycle which isn't too bad. I hope your next cycle is the same too 🤞🏼

excitedemmi · 03/04/2017 09:23

Hey Emma can't believe it's almost been two weeks since you posted. Sorry for not replying earlier! You must be trying now! V exciting. I have been using OPKs for the first month but have not had any positive readings. Weird. Would have expected one by now. Maybe today.

Emma2803 · 03/04/2017 09:48

Hi girls, laura that's great that your cycles have came back and are quite regular already!

Emmi Yes we are trying now, I think I am due to ovulate soon, my opks aren't very dark yet but my back is starting to get sore and I have started tracking my heart rate (with my fitbit) as I'd read it rises around the time of ovulation and last month when I checked back it started to rise 3 days before I got a positive opk and it has started to rise again yesterday.
What time of the day do you do your opks emmi? I think if I drink too much I get a weaker result. Im gonna drink loads until 3pm, have a pee before I leave work at 5 and only a small drink at dinner and test at 8pm when lo goes to bed!

excitedemmi · 03/04/2017 09:58

In the evening. Maybe I am just drinking too much liquid though! I had quite a weak one the other day.

Emma2803 · 03/04/2017 10:38

Maybe that's why then. I find if my pee is very light I get a weaker result. I will post a picture of mine when I go home tonight.

So I had 4 days of spotting can that be classed as a withdrawal period? . I went to the doctor and was told to come back in June if I still didn't have a period. So annoying

Emma2803 · 16/04/2017 13:39

I would have thought a withdrawal period would happen within a week of stopping the pill? I've read that you can also have a withdrawal pill if you don't ovulate as the estrogen alone cannot support the lining of the womb without the progesterone from the corpus luteum.

Either way a withdrawal bleed isn't a "proper" period. Though it could trigger the body to start the cycle over so hopefully you will start ovulating.

Kate2930 · 16/04/2017 16:49

I haven't had a period since I was on cerelle. When I stopped it I hoped it would happen but still waiting. I just wondering if the spotting could be classed as a period or possibly implantation bleed?

OP posts:
Emma2803 · 16/04/2017 17:04

I wouldn't class it as a period. Could possibly be implantation bleeding, have you done a pregnancy test?

Kate2930 · 17/04/2017 08:44

No I'm to scared to just incase it comes back negative. When Ive had symptoms before I tested but negative. I don't want to be disappointed again

Did you get your period yet Kate or take a HPT? I was expecting my period last weekend. Maybe. They may not be regular. And I took a test on Sunday and again today. Both negative. Just hoping I don't get my period this weekend and I can test again next week. Hopefully posting this on here won't be tempting fate.

Kate2930 · 20/04/2017 18:48

It was a negative and still no period. Getting a bit stressy now :(

excitedemmi · 20/04/2017 20:52

I believe it's possible to ovulate without a period but I'm not an expert. You just need to hang on in there. Really sucky Kate. The waiting for all of this is the hardest part.

excitedemmi · 27/04/2017 11:46

Hi ladies. 11 days late for my period and have done a zillion pregnancy tests since then. All BFNs. Not sure what to do next. Just wait I guess. I hate waiting.

excitedemmi · 27/04/2017 12:39

Did you get your period yet Kate?

Kate2930 · 27/04/2017 12:59

Hello! I did! I was relieved. It was light but it finally came last week. Hopefully can start trying properly now. Just need to see if its going to be regular.

Great news! Let the fun and games begin!

Kate2930 · 27/04/2017 20:29

It was such a relief, ate a shit load of chocolate though.

That's great news that your period has came Kate and you can start trying now!!

Emmi that is really strange af hasn't arrived? Perhaps your body was gearing up to ovulate and then didn't? Did you get positive opks? My first cycle I had thought I'd ovulated as lines were dark so stopped testing then two weeks later had a really sore back so I did a test and that one was obviously positive so I didn't ovulate when I initially thought I did.

Littleonek · 27/04/2017 22:16

Can I ask you guys how your body is a few days after ovulation. Ive had my first month in four years of naturally overlating and ive had stomach cramps since sunday night on and off. Its like a mini period cramp but not as painful. Is this normal when you overlate? Normally on the pill I only had cramps on the day I was meant to overlate and then it went.
