Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Alexia that must be well tough. I am sure she has her reasons just like you have for TTC.

MrsRonBurgundy · 24/01/2017 20:20

Alexia sorry you've had that this eve - a little insensitive! Hope you are ok

kwick · 24/01/2017 20:33

I am hoping the cluster of spots I have just found on my poto (Quechua for bum) is a good sign...

Pyjamas81 · 24/01/2017 20:51

Oh no poor miw 😢

And what a shit thing to hear alexia - she may have her reasons, but it doesn't take the sting out of it for you 💐

Jam - I booked tickets to a gin festival next month above 5 months ago in an effort to carry on life as normal (and hopefully invoke Sod's law!). Maybe your DH is doing the same? I understand how frustrated you just feel though.

My DH is less than impressed about having to dtd for the next 3 days in a row. Whatever, it's not like I'm looking forward to it!

sk1pper · 24/01/2017 21:28

Oh fuck - poor Miw - life is so horribly unfair sometimes, I hate it. Sad

Alexia - really not the kind of thing you need to be hearing right now. Don't let this knock your positivity though, that's their life and yours is a separate journey.

Jam - you are having a right old rough time with your DH right now. I wouldn't read it as him assuming you won't be pregnant in May, he's a bloke - I really doubt he has even analysed it that much. He has probably just said ok without thinking.

Flashinthepan · 24/01/2017 22:05

Oh poor miw. I hope she knows we're all here for her if she needs us. Alexia that's awful. Not the same thing but I remember the first time I went out after my ectopic I saw a heavily pregnant woman standing outside the pub smoking a cigarette thinking "why did I have to lose my baby". Sometimes other people's decisions seem so unthinkable in situations like this but we never know what it's really like in someone else's shoes. Kwick yeah the dreams do suck. It seemed so real. I've so optimistic about your scan on Thursday. Can't wait to hear all is well. Thanks for everyone's support/sharing of random bleeding. Cervical ectropion I have considered although it wasn't mentioned during my smear in November. Still I will see what the doc has to say.

geeup · 24/01/2017 22:05

God what a clusterfuck today has been. So sad for miw. Heart goes out to you alexia. Clip round jam's DH's ear for completely failing to check with you (my DH would do that - has already booked a lads trip in Feb when we may be doing IVF?!).
Jam - appt at end of month to talk next steps. Likely we'll start late Feb/early march. Will keep you posted.

Londonjam · 24/01/2017 22:17

You guys are right, it wasn't done thinking we won't be pregnant. He just didn't think. Never mind! Maybe I should just sign up for this bloody gin run after all...

💐 and hugs all round. Hope tomorrow is a better day

Kaydee2017 · 25/01/2017 06:52

Flowers for jam, alexia & miw, life can be incredibly unfair at times. Thinking of you all.

harrietm87 · 25/01/2017 08:34

Oh no poor miw.
alexia that is so insensitive of your bro - and also, would his gf have been happy with him telling you?

jam I agree your DH just wasn't thinking. Mine wouldn't either in that situation!

So today I got a static smiley! Really pleased we did dtd last night as when I input the static into ovia just now it shifted everything forward by a day so yesterday was peak fertility! I know I know...don't trust ovia!

Going to try dtd tonight, tomorrow and fri which will be 5 in a row- wish me luck!

HepKestrel · 25/01/2017 10:11

I also read the news whilst stalking the other thread. poor miw
sorry Alexia.

cd10: FW starts tonight (i think). time to break out the opks !

sk1pper · 25/01/2017 10:37

I'm cd10 tomorrow, getting real itchy feet but have to abstain from DTD until after the HSG. There also wouldn't be much point. It says to give 24 hours between procedure and DTD but I might risk it and do it that evening. I have ovulated on CD12 before.

Gaelach · 25/01/2017 10:39

Hi everyone, will take me a good while to catch up on the past threads but Flowers for those who need some support. This is such an emotional time for us all.

I need someone to talk me down from poas. I'm only 7dpo. Trying to hold off until Saturday when I'll be 10dpo. I have so little self restraint!

Starfish33 · 25/01/2017 11:56

Hello lovelies!

Sorry I haven't been about much; such a manic work period for me at the moment! Will hopefully get a chance soon to catch up properly but, like Gaelach, sending love and thoughts to all those who are having a particularly difficult time right now... Flowers

Gaelach, I'm also 7dpo (if I can depend on CB smiley!). Have you had any symptoms? (I know I shouldn't encourage symptom-spotting, but we all do it, don't we?!) I don't think I have had anything out of the ordinary, but am analysing every twinge!

Gaelach · 25/01/2017 12:21

Hi starfish glad you're in the same boat! I've had no notable symptoms, other than the occasional twinge in the uterus area. It's nothing like period pain, closer to ovulation twinges for me. What about you?

Starfish33 · 25/01/2017 12:33

Agreed, Gaelach! It's so easy to feel quite alone - we're keeping TTC quiet, but we're usually so open with family and friends, so it seems like such a bizarre situation (and, of course, I'm spending so much time thinking about it!).

To be honest, I'm still getting used to 'feeling' all these post-pill aches and pains. (I stopped taking Microgynon30 in December.) Fascinated and, like other women, rather concerned at what the pill masks. Since ovulation, I've had little twinges in my lower tummy and felt a little dizzy at a workout class last night (which isn't like me at all!)...but geez, I amused myself - never have I wanted my body to feel strange and have symptoms more!

Also, apologies - I realised that I didn't do much to talk you down! You may get an unnecessary BFN if you test early, so waiting's probably best. Just a few more days... Smile I'm not going to test unless I have any clear/bigger symptoms (like something that might represent implantation!). Everything crossed for you, my dear! x

AlexiaB · 25/01/2017 14:11

Sorry about last night everyone. It was just such a shock to the system. I still can't get over the fact a healthy baby is going to die when here we are losing babies and trying SO hard to have one. It's not fair! My brother's timing was off but he was actually really sensitive about telling me. He hadn't spoken to anyone about it and said I was the only person he trusted. I think because we were on the baby subject it just came out. Now I think about it, I'm glad he told. They're both quite young and not ready for it so I completely accept their decision, it's just hard to understand how someone who doesn't even want a baby, who was on the pill and who rarely sees their bf could be pregnant Confused

Thanks for all your kind words. Skipper yep I'm keeping positive, just a little blip in the PMA Grin

Mouse as there are so many different scenarios for conception I'd forget LMP and just go with what the scan said. I know it must be worrying but the fact you saw a heartbeat is very promising! When's your next scan? Keep us updated xx

pyjamas woohoo lovely looking OPK Star Hope you managed to dtd.

Kwick you've got this!!! Everything will be just fine my lovely. Bum spots and all!

Flash that must have been so painful to see Sad Not fair! Hope your spotting/bleeding has eased.

Jam I know the gin run goes against everything you believe you should be doing but it could be a good fuck it day if you're still (I bloody hope not) not upduffed by then. Men really don't think sometimes!

Harriet I don't know his gf - never seen or spoken to her before, so I'm not sure. I think he just wanted someone to talk to (other than her). Your timing is perfect, good luck! Lol you can trust Ovia now you have a static smiley Wink

Claire that's awful timing Flowers

Miw I'm so sorry for your loss. Take all the time you need to heal FlowersFlowers

Skipper are you doing OPKs this cycle? If you feel up to dtd after the HSG I say go for it, unless there's a major risk that I don't know about.

Think I'm all caught up!

sk1pper · 25/01/2017 14:32

Alexia - know what you mean hon, it is really disheartening to hear something like that. Even if I wasn't TTC I wouldn't like it. But glad you are feeling better today xx yes I'm doing opks this cycle, I'm going to do my first tomorrow afternoon once I'm back from hospital. If I do it today and it's positive I will freak out.

Flashinthepan · 25/01/2017 14:45

Afternoon ladies! Gaelach be strong! (don't listen to me, I peed on a FRER last night because I couldn't face having it in the cupboard taunting me but didn't want to throw it away unused - mental!)

Skipper how are you feeling about the procedure?

Aww bum spots Kwick. Sadly I too get those, at least you have pregnancy as an excuse!

Alexia hope you are feeling better today and don't apologise!

So, bleeding today has slowed to old brown CM-y type stuff (gross I know). Temp has only gone up a bit from 36.48 to 36.63 but I feel I have ovulated - sore breasts for a few days now, bit bloated, gassy etc. I think maybe taking the Omega supplements with EPO really messed up my system.

sk1pper · 25/01/2017 15:10

Flash - are the EPO capsules and omega capsules a new thing? Do you take them at the same time? They should be fine together, but I do my EPO capsule in the morning and the omega in the evening. I only do the minimum requirement too. And yeah I'm nervous about the procedure, I don't like hospitals at the best of times. It's the tubes, the smell and the beeps and noises from the machines - I blame my childhood as I was in hospital a lot back then and always strapped up to a ventilator which was loud and scary for a 3 year old.

Londonjam · 25/01/2017 18:18

Alexia I can completely understand you feeling like that. I am 100% pro choice (and horrified by recent Trump reports on the matter) but would also find it hard to hear someone close was choosing to end a pregnancy when it's something we are so desperate for. It's just completely different life stages and perspectives isn't it.

Good luck tomorrow skipper hope it all goes well 🌷

AlexiaB · 25/01/2017 18:43

Skipper yeh I don't blame you for not opk-ing today! Good luck for tomorrow hon. Hope it's all goes smoothly and without much pain Flowers

Jam that's exactly it! We're all so desperate for a baby yet they've been given one but don't want it. It's hard to stomach, though the right decision for them.

Flash that's still a decent temp rise to indicate ovulation. Hope it keeps going up for you now. Agree with you on the supps. Hope the spotting clears up soon!

CarleyColie · 25/01/2017 18:49

Flash really feel for you with the bleeding, I've spent the last three years with increasing amounts of bleeding between AF's and it was awful. Hope your GP appointment goes well.

Congrats on the BFP's Gimble and Peachy!

Ohh Pug they are just adorable! I am so jealous as I really want a second! I have a black girl called Bella :)

Alexia can't be nice hearing that about your brothers girlfriend, but well done for being there for your brother (it's nice that he is obviously close enough to you that he feels he can confide in you!). Hopefully it is the right decision for them even if it's a crappy thing to hear when you're TTC.

Such sad news about Miw, hope she is taking care of herself Flowers

Think I am 2 DPO, the waiting sucks already!!

Pyjamas81 · 25/01/2017 18:57

Good call skipper on waiting to OPK, that's definitely stress you don't need at the moment! Good luck tomorrow, hope it's over quickly and you get the all clear with freshly flushed tubes as a bonus 😊

Your brother is lucky to have a supportive sister like you Alexia, even though it's hard.

Mentally preparing myself for third night in a row dtd, which is especially important as I think tomorrow will be a write off. No way DH will dtd in the morning after dtd tonight, and I doubt I'll be able to leave work event early tomorrow night. I'm soooo hoping I ov'd yesterday or today! Did an opk, and while it's a strong line, I don't think it's quite a positive so looks like the surge is over.
