Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

emalady the list was for improving sperm, it's what my DH takes. I have to say though wherever you read that it's rubbish. Vitamin d is very important for women ttc (and pregnant), as is Omega 3 and ubiquinol/coq10 for egg quality etc etc. That's why there are prenatal supplements out there with (almost) everything you need in.

EJ I've heard ubiquinol is best for women but coq10 is fine for men. Either way it's better than nothing so I wouldn't worry :)

Amazing dtd jam Star Got everything crossed for you!!

Pyjamas what a rough day. Hugs Flowers

Used a softcup for the first time tonight Grin We've dtd CD8, 9 & 10 so far. CD11 tomorrow. Let's get a sticky baby!

No Alexia my next scan not until next Thursday - I hope I get similar results as MouseLove cos if all they see is the egg sac again then I think it means it is another MC.

sk1pper IVF generally has higher success rates than IUI - really depends on your own situation. But I just want you lovely ladies to know it is a course of treatment and it can work.
With IUI the magic potion does not have to make the arduous journey up the fanjo and through the womble - but it still needs to find the egg. Of my 9 treatments, 7 were IUI. I wish I had done the Hycosy right at the start because whilst both my tubes were clear, that may have given me the edge.
After I had a BFP from IVF I was kicking myself I had not done it sooner but then that resulted in MC and I did again and got a BFN... it really is swings and roundabouts- very hard to decide what is for the best. Sorry if I have confused matters Confused

pugmummy hope you are feeling better today Flowers
I was up and down after MC - it takes weeks to be "normal" again. But you will and then you will get a sticky BFP.

kwick · 22/01/2017 08:19

Don't forget to laugh jam!!! And loads of PMA!!!

EJ I get my co-enzyme q10/ubiquinol from Amazon - Vitastore 300mg - quite reasonable if you buy in bulk.

ema If you want to learn more about supplements and what you should be taking this book offers a tailored approach

Flowers to pug

Also fx to jam & alexia after your well timed DTD efforts!! Grin

Just been doing some Sunday morning pondering & wondered whether I could ask you ladies a question / your opinion given your amazing wealth of TTC knowledge - probably one for those of you who came off the pill!

I was wondering whether there was any link between length of AF & ovulation date / length of cycle? My first cycle AF lasted 7 days, cycle length was 30 days, but second AF was only 4 days, so wondered whether this may have an effect? In my many hours of research I read Ov happens about a week after last day of AF (however I now think that was a mass generalisation), so can I expect an earlier Ov and shorter cycle, or is Ov date linked to LP length only and regardless, I will Ov on the same date every month & AF will appear after my LP, no matter of how long AF at the start of that cycle was?

I know the only way to confirm Ov would be to temp, which I don't think I'm quite ready for yet, but just wondered if any of you had any experience?

Sorry for the length, the more I thought the more I just couldn't come to a conclusion Confused

sk1pper · 22/01/2017 10:22

Kaydee - You'll probably get a better answer than me from others but thought I'd give it a go. Your luteal phase will normally be the same length every cycle. As far as I'm aware, the length of AF doesn't 'add days' onto your cycle, it's more about whether you ovulate on time or not. If you have a delayed ovulation, you can still expect the same number of DPO that you normally would, that's why your cycle lengthens. Ovulation can be delayed majorly because of certain factors like sickness, altitude/temp changes, stress - though sometimes it can just be one or two days off for no apparent reason.

macsworth · 22/01/2017 10:57

💐 pug. I'm sure it's going to be very and down for you. Just make sure you take some time to look after yourself.

Kaydee Like sk1pper said I think it's you luteal phase that remains the same so the ovulation date dictates the length of cycle. My cycles have been 27-33 days but my Ov day tends to vary.

jam those number are amazing!!!

AF is due yesterday or today, no sign yet. There are more likely scenarios than a BPF:

  • it's delayed due to stress of this month
-didn't actually Ov due to stress -I've been taking vitamin B6 to lengthen LP and this has worked.
  • AF arrives later today

I'm holding off on testing after cp last cycle. Going to wait until Wednesday if still no AF

Kaydee2017 · 22/01/2017 11:03

Thanks skipper & macs, I thought so, I just wondered whether Ov date was dictated by last day of AF - if I have no luck in a few cycles I might start temping, see if I can find out for myself!!

Londonjam · 22/01/2017 11:07

How are you feeling kwick?
*
Pyjamas* that sounds so tough. But well done for holding your nerve and telling him what you needed to. That must have been difficult but hopefully will help you let go some of those feelings.

Got slightly sore boobs so progesterone is on the up already. Bruce yourself for mental londonjam! Haha I'll try and be more normal this TWW ConfusedWinkHmm

Binkybunny13 · 22/01/2017 11:08

Morning ladies, I'm on my way out to be baby bombed I think! Wish me luck!

So sorry you were feeling so down yesterday pugFlowers Hope ikea has helped and you're feeling a bit brighter today? Thinking of you

Amazing DTD work london! LSFX

Great news re: scan mouse 😊

Miranda we had planned a similar trip for April this year, but I vetoed when I realised Florida is also not zika safe. It's a bugger as you try to not let TTC take over but then it does anyway!

Sorry yesterday was so draining pyjamas- goodness what an awful couple of days Flowers Hope you're having a relaxing day today

Kaydee I think skipper has fed back well as I understand it

Fx macs! How's your brother doing?

From yesterday's posts I think I need to get DH on wellman or similar- his lifestyle varies hugely depending on how stressed with work (hospital doctor) so somedays he's a man of virtue, others he's boozing and eating pizza followed by cake with no fruit or veg to be seen. Plus he's a cyclist too...wow written down I think we might have a real issue getting pregnant 😞

Londonjam · 22/01/2017 11:08

Thanks macs it is a shedload of sperm but the morphology is very very low. I am holding out for the specialist opinion now.

Londonjam · 22/01/2017 11:11

Good luck binky brace yourself love. Your DH doesn't sound completely unhealthy. Stress is a really tough one as that definitely impacts and it must be hard to reduce with a job like that. Could you get him outside more for relaxing walks on off days? I worry about my DH massively weekly exposure to radiation - this is another thing not good at all for sperm and I suspect might have something to do with his morphology results.

Flashinthepan · 22/01/2017 11:11

jam nice Dtd! DH and I Dtd Thursday and am and pm yesterday.

Questions: only got a positive opk on one day, day before and after were decidedly negative. Does this mean anything? Also, cm seems to have now gone didn't have as much this month as normal, but haven't had a temp rise, I'm cd 12 does this mean I probably didn't ovulate?

Does anyone else who's had a MC feel they just don't trust their body to work properly at all?

Didn't Dtd as much as I would have liked, DH doesn't want to know when fw is so can't use it as a reason to ask him to Dtd if he says he's tired etc. FX it was enough.

pug I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling so down. I've had some dark days as I'm sure many on here have but it does get better. And then sometimes it just hits you for no reason. We're all here for you.

Londonjam · 22/01/2017 12:01

Flash as far as I know it's normal for it to be positive for just one day. Lots of people have got their BFP after only DTD once or twice so don't worry about that.

Do you get any other signs of ovulation like pain? I notice the shift in cm from clear to cloudy white after I've ovulated. Boobs also - tend to be sensitive and tingly during ovulation and then afterwards get tender/sore/bruised feeling.

All little things but can help you to notice the shift in hormones.

kwick · 22/01/2017 12:01

jam I feel fine- thanks. But I kinda wish I had raging morning sickness - or some other sign! My boobage is still uncomfortable but nothing like it was. My fanjo is a bit sore - probably from all the progesterone veing shoved up it.

flash I do trust my body - it knew something was not right last time.

Hmm may just have a small nap...😴

CarleyColie · 22/01/2017 12:40

Sending hugs your way pug, hope you enjoyed your ikea trip (going by your username, do you have a pug? I have a two year old pug, lovely dogs :) )

Sorry about the BFN pass, hope you at least enjoyed your wine and the rest of your birthday

Inspector sorry about AF arriving, but good news regarding your cycle length!

I got a positive OPK today (CD12), hopefully O is on its way. We dtd CD9 and CD10, back to it today!

POAS is already addictive Blush

Peaches8Posies · 22/01/2017 15:29

kwick I hope everything is fine on your scan on Thursday. You really deserve it to be Flowers

pug having a mc is a really hard thing to go through. A friend of mine once told me how it impacted her life, said she wouldn't wish it on anyone. Unfortunately I now understand what she ment. Hope you are getting good hugs in RL Flowers

flash 99% positive my body has changed post mc, and not for the better. I honestly think something has happened to me and it's preventing me getting pregnant again. Next month will be a whole year since my bfp. Never in a million years did I think I would still be trying.

AF rocked up today, a day early again! My Dad who is one of the strongest men I know is experiencing a real deterioration in health all in the last month or so. He had a bad fall last night. Another close member of my family got rushed to hospital yesterday. Tomorrow I am going to spend the day with my friend who had her baby just weeks after I should have had mine. Practically burst out crying in church earlier! Having a real fuck my life day today Sad

Sorry to everyone I've missed x

sk1pper · 22/01/2017 15:33

Got everything crossed for you Macs!

Jam - you can be as mental as you want in your 2WW, if you're excited it means your hopeful. I can't wait to analyise all your strange and wonderful symptoms with you.

Flash - your positive opk is a definite indication of ovulaltion, you're releasing the LH hormone and that will cause the egg to rupture from your ovarian follicle. I wouldn't even begin to worry what your OPKs start to look like afterwards. As Jam has already said, you can look out for subtle clues that you've ovulated. Ovulation pain is a big one for me and normally happens 1 or 2 days after the +ve opk, its like trapped wind - just a niggling sensation that you could dismiss for any other weird body pain. I don't tend to get sore boobs unless I get a large cyst rupture but that's pretty common too.

Pyjamas - did you have to abstain from DTD before your HSG? It says I'm not allowed to DTD (including protected) at all until after the procedure. I feel really, really weird about this. Normally OH and I are at it like rabbits after AF to make sure we stand the best possible chance of conception but we're just sort of twiddling our thumbs. I am really worried that its going to take me a few days to recover and I'll miss my fertile window entirely.

Pyjamas81 · 22/01/2017 15:47

Hi skipper - that's strange, I wasn't told that - I was just told no dtd until 24 hrs after (fine by me, last thing I wanted to do). Maybe it's another avoiding infection precaution? They didn't say why? To be honest, I don't think dtd before the procedure will make much difference to conceiving as surely all the sperm would be flushed out anyway?

It was really tough London - but it feels great to have buried the hatchet!

One dtd session done last night, OPK is still a blank circle, so not bothering again until tomorrow. Don't want to deplete DH too much!

AlexiaB · 22/01/2017 16:19

kwick I've got everything crossed for Thursday. You deserve this so much!! PMA PMA PMA Star

Peaches sending you big hugs Flowers I'm so sorry AF arrived and that you have a lot of sad things going on in your personal life Sad You have every right to be angry at the world, this is so painful! There are no words for how much it hurts. I've gone into a denial mode to try and get through it all but I know it'll all come crashing down soon. I completely understand how agonising the wait has been since your last bfp and what a huge waste of time it feels. What's helped me a little is trying to come to terms with being 'left behind' when compared to other pregnant women. One wasted cycle for us is 4-5 weeks down the drain but someone who's pregnant suddenly goes from 16 to 21 weeks pregnant. It only takes a couple of wasted cycles for us for them to be so far ahead. I know it doesn't help much but I keep repeating this to myself. It's inevitable that we'll feel left behind and angry/bitter with how our lives are not going as we hoped/planned. Lots of love. Be kind to yourself today and take all the time you need Flowers

Flash I typically get a temp rise 2 days after my +ve opk. Hopefully you will see a temp rise tomorrow. I also only get one day of +ve opks and that's completely normal. I like to watch the line fade back to 'negative' the next day too.

LSFX macs!

I saw this posted on FF earlier. It was given to someone by their RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). It might be useful if you're unsure what to take yourself or what to give your DH/OH.

sk1pper · 22/01/2017 16:44

Pyjamas - that's kind of what I feel like, its all going to get flushed anyway so does it matter. But maybe you're right, its there to prevent infection or perhaps it can be more painful. Do you normally use OPKs? I had stopped but I'm going to make an exception this cycle, want to get everything spot on. Good luck to you xx

Pyjamas81 · 22/01/2017 16:52

I really wouldn't worry too much about it skipper - if dye can push through some debris in the tubes, then I'm pretty sure it'll flush out any sperm that's in there. It's part of the reason we didn't start dtd before - it felt a bit pointless and I knew I wasn't pregnant. Yep - I usually use opks as my ovulation days can vary quite a bit - wouldn't have a scooby what was going on otherwise! Good luck to you too - I have everything apart from legs crossed for us!

Londonjam · 22/01/2017 17:41

Peaches sorry you are having such a tough time lovely ☹️ I really hope these dark clouds pass and you happier times are coming your way💐

Skipper have you had your HSG then? I think I missed that update. Hope it went well. Fx for post HSG BFP s!

My TWW mentalness will sadly not be symptom spotting but more a raging weepy rant about TTC I'm afraid. That's usually the way it goes! I'll try to keep my pecker up.

sk1pper · 22/01/2017 18:32
