Welcome to our third thread on PCOS. What we don't know isn't really worth knowing. We're a friendly bunch of women who have a few things in common. We all have either PCOS or unexplained infertility and we're all on a mission for a BFP!!!!

For new members, and old alike here are the links to our 1st and 2nd threads:

I took a cheapie 10ui test

satsoooma · 02/02/2017 19:23

If you aren't sure Fluffy, I'd get an actual first response test just to be certain. I'm never 100% sure that the cheapies really work, although I do use them a lot. I try to save the expensive ones for situations like this.

FluffyEwok · 02/02/2017 20:51

It seems weird ive oved consistently for three months and this month no period

SummerHopin · 02/02/2017 21:02

Hi fluffy. How did you know that you had ovulated if you don't mind me asking? What are the signs when there is PCOs?
I don't know if I've ovulated at all as don't use opks. The only signs I've had is EWCM that I have really only had twice since coming off the pill.
Given the rarity of it would I be silly to assume that those two times meant ovulation? Or could it still not have meant anything actually happened?
I agree with sat too-maybe given the circumstances this time get a proper one for a definitive result.
Routing for you though Hun x

satsoooma · 02/02/2017 21:09

Summer, I usually assume that if my cycle is less than 35 days, then I have ovulated. If you don't ovulate then usually your body does not get the signal to start your period either. So long cycles are a good sign that you did not ovulate.

SLady · 02/02/2017 21:17

Make a note of the ewcm days and if it was ovulation then your period should follow around 2 weeks later. The fact that we can get periods without ovulating confuses things even more!!

FluffyEwok · 02/02/2017 21:23

Summer i didnt test for ov this month. I had ewcm and was really horny on about day 18 im.now day 39
Oved for three months straight on clomid so im summising i oved?

satsoooma · 02/02/2017 22:08

I ovulated for two months on clomid, but not the third time.

My clinic said that if AF had not showed up by CD35, then I had probably not ovulated. In that case I do a pregnancy test just to be sure, then take provera to induce the next cycle.

FluffyEwok · 02/02/2017 22:52

Thanks sats. Ill do another test then start provera. I can never imagine holding a positive test

satsoooma · 03/02/2017 10:04

I know Fluffy. The one time I got a (short-lived) line, I spent about an hour wandering around the house, squinting at it from different directions and under different lights to try and decide if I had finally snapped and started hallucinating lines. To this day, I am still not 100% convinced that I did not imagine it.

SummerHopin · 03/02/2017 10:07

Thanks ladies.
God yeah the idea of a positive test is just surreal now as I just don't see it as happening to me.
The EWCM was earlier this week so guess I should leave it 2 weeks to see. I tried to DTD as much as poss during those days but DH has been away last few days so as soon as EWCM stopped so did we.

KittyKat73 · 03/02/2017 11:57

hey everyone!

First time on this thread, I was wondering what symptoms you had before you were diagnosed with PCOS?

Im 28 came off the pill in June 2016 had been on it for 11 years and have had iregular cycles ever since ( which i expected short term coming off the pill) the cycles were getting shorter each month first month was 42 days , last was 32 days.

Currently im CD 64 ...... Hmm no sign of AF anywhere. I have done 4 tests, a week inbetween them just to be sure and all are BFN. At first i thought about going to my GP if nothing appeared by the 1st of feb but i think ill make it 1st March so i can say its been 3 months and no AF incase they see 2 months as not long enough for concern. the only weird thing this cycle was on cd 19 i had weird blood stained discharge which lasted for a few days and nothing ever since.

I know the pill can cover up any issues and now wondering if i have PCOS.

SLady · 03/02/2017 12:25

Hi kittykat73 I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 through an ultrasound for something else. I had cysts on my ovaries and also had spotty skin and excess hair. I was put on the pill which cleared my skin and made my periods regular.

I came off the pill in February 2016 after 11 years and my skin got bad again and my periods went back to being irregular. I had an ultrasound which again confirmed I had cysts and a blood test which showed a hormone imbalance.

Doctors tell you when taking the pill that it does not affect your cycle and does not have any negative effect when you come off it and start TTC so that being said they should be willing to do more tests if your periods don't go back to normal afterwards. What were your periods like before the pill? I think that you only have to have two symptoms present to be diagnosed. As you have irregular periods it might be worth going to your GP and asking for a blood test to check your hormone levels and then you might be able to get a diagnosis

satsoooma · 03/02/2017 12:35

Hi Kitty. I would say, just go to your GP right away. I was moaning on this thread just earlier this week about how much I wished I had gone to the GP before I even started TTC. I knew something was wrong with my periods, but thought I should wait until I had tried to TTC for a while.

Looking back, I think they would have taken me seriously if I had turned up early on and said that I was thinking baout TTC, but worried about PCOS due to irregular periods.

SLady · 03/02/2017 14:16

Yes I agree. My doctor was pretty strict and would not consider a referral until I had been TTC for a year. However, I know that's not the case for everyone and if it's a diagnosis you're after they should be able to do that right away

satsoooma · 03/02/2017 14:31

I'm not sure how many people currently on the thread have experience with provera. I took it for the first time this cycle. AF technically started on Tuesday, but it was very, very light and has not really got heavier (now on CD4).

TMI alert: basically there is a little brown blood when I wipe, but I really could get away without any tampons, or pads at all, even at night.

Is this normal for a provera bleed?

SummerHopin · 03/02/2017 17:33

satsooma mine was light too when I had one for my cycle bloods.
It only last 2 or so days, but the nurse said to me that a short bleed was fine and so was light, they say that if it requires A tampon then it qualifies as a bleed, even if only at one point.
If you're not sure maybe call the clinic? If it was that light maybe it doesn't quite qualify?

KittyKat73 · 03/02/2017 17:35

Thanks SLady and satsoooma

I think ill see if i can get an appointment booked sooner just incase like you said if there is an issue id rather know about it sooner so i can be dealt with quicker :)

FluffyEwok · 03/02/2017 20:58

My bleeds on provera were light and short. My bleeds on clomid were brutal. Still no period i swear on my life i oved this monthConfused

FluffyEwok · 04/02/2017 08:13

Another bfn looks like its ivf time

satsoooma · 04/02/2017 16:13

Sorry to hear that Fluffy. Do you have any more rounds of clomid left?

Are you really going straight from clomid to IVF? I am coming towards the end of my clomid treatment and was hoping there were some other steps to try before IVF.

FluffyEwok · 05/02/2017 09:14

Ive got one left so going to do that. They said my risk of ohss is too high for anything but ivf. Im just gonna see what happens theres no point crying and whingeing about it is there?

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 05/02/2017 16:32

Hi ladies, may I join? Smile

I was diagnosed with pcos last year. I have no obvious symptoms other than a stone overweight and find it incredibly difficult to shift it. I have no cysts on my ovaries but my hormones were off when they took my bloods and I was told I have the syndrome, rather than any actual cysts and my hormones aren't high enough for me to ovulate (I have regular periods). So I'm currently taking metformin to help me to ovulate. Second time lucky hopefully, I had a mc in Dec and was taking metformin then too xx

AmyC86 · 05/02/2017 17:01

Welcome sugarplum xx sounds like you have PCS without the Overy part. I'm still waiting for AF Confused has anyone seen boggle over the last few days since she got her unfortunate BNF?

SLady · 05/02/2017 17:20

Hi sugarplum sorry to hear about your MC. Good news that the metformin seems to be working and making you ovulate. How long have you been put on that for? Are you having bloods to check ovulation?

I think boggle said she was going to take a break amyc86
