I almost put this in arts and crafts, seeing as how we talk about crochet as much as we talk about babies!

Imps If you wear a pad then you can give that to the midwives to check if it is waters. It is what they recommend if you think your waters are leaking, they told me to do it with DD2, it was so I got induced after 24 hours as not in established labour

keepitgoing · 24/10/2016 20:01

Grin imps!!!

Imps9 · 24/10/2016 20:08

Yes, they did say I could do that overnight and bring it in tomorrow, but I'm busy tomorrow! Plus I was pretty sure it wasn't waters. They did see some pooling of liquid in the fanjo after I laid down for 1+ hours, but they said it was too thick for amniotic fluid. I was just glad that there was something there and I wasn't bone dry or pissing myself.

Geek am I not waiting for you to accept an invite???

BeedlesPineNeedles · 24/10/2016 20:48

I may have been a little over confident about the feeding thing. We went to get weighed again today and she has now lost 10% so she has been admitted to the neonatal ward. She's in a room with us not in an incubator so not too serious, they just want to get her eating more and being a bit more awake. Hopefully we'll only be here for a few days as I really have spent far too much time at the hospital over the past few weeks.

Pastamancer · 24/10/2016 21:02

How frustrating Beedles, are you able to feed her still? These early feeds are so important to establish your supply and they normally spend lots of time on the boob. Even if they are just using you like a dummy it is still sending the signal to say make more milk

Imps9 · 24/10/2016 21:03

Oh Beedles what a shame. Are you giving her formula or can you express everything she needs? Have they checked for tongue-tie? Thinking of you lovely - must be tough to be back in hospital.

Pastamancer · 24/10/2016 21:08

Also don't forget we have a couple of bf peer supporters amongst the brookers so feel free to post on facebook for advice

keepitgoing · 24/10/2016 23:48

Oh beedle sorry to hear this? What's the plan? With s I had to pump after feeding her then we topped her up with expressed milk. She was v sleepy too didn't last! and had jaundice. Was readmitted and put under blue light to clear it. Are poos yellow?

imps I thought pasta gave you huge boobs ;)

geek yay for impending ml. Sorry for all the carers crap you're having

Imps9 · 25/10/2016 07:05

MagicBoobLady did Keep - before she got her hands on them they actually went in, rather than out Grin

Geek I'm sorry to hear about caring issues too. How easy it is to find new care support? I imagine that there have been massive cuts to this sort of support but really hope people are available to help.

Big globs of pink pant snot this morning!

Imps9 · 25/10/2016 07:06

Bollocks posted too soon. How are you getting on Beedles? Is Mr Beedles staying too?

keepitgoing · 25/10/2016 08:01

Is it your show? Grin maybe bb wants to be prompt and arrive today on your edd!

Imps9 · 25/10/2016 08:14

I think it prob is! Am hoping for end of this week at the earliest which according to Google is entirely possible. Come on Barry-Baxter, work to my timetable there's a love.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 25/10/2016 11:39

I'm excited for you imps

Babybeedle has put on a couple of grams in weight since yesterday. The plan is to continue with 3 hourly formula/ebm feeds with her actually breastfeeding beforehand if she's awake/strong enough. The Dr thinks we might be out of here in a few days.

Imps9 · 25/10/2016 12:00

Well done Babybeedles - a step in the right direction. Sounds like a good plan Beedles - brooking v hard that she continues to chub up so you can be home in 3 days or less.

Are you healing well?

WishIWasSleeping · 25/10/2016 13:27

Oh that's good news Beedles, it frustrates me when they expect all babies to do the same thing at the same time. Fingers crossed you'll be home again soon. Flowers

Imps - that's exciting. I didn't get a show... so when my waters broke (induced) i initially thought I'd peed myself... but then I realised there was no way my body could produce that much pee... i was so surprised by just how much there was. And it doesn't smell like pee.... keep us posted - we won't tell anyone! Grin

My scan letter came yesterday, I'm on the 7th Nov, so I estimate I'll be 13 weeks by then... be interesting to find out if I actually am that far along!
My PFB... Absolute Rascal must know there's something happening as she's decided that the full nights sleep we have all been enjoying for the past few weeks must come to an end...! I've a feeling I won't need to change my screen name for quite some time! Grin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 25/10/2016 13:47

I am healing well actually imps I still have the bandage over the wound but it should work loose over the next few days. I'm still on paracetamol every 6 to 8 hours but I'm not in much pain at all. The bleeding is hardly worth mentioning either. So physically I'm doing OK but we still have a way to go mentally.

Only 2 weeks to wait wish

geek hope you manage to get the carers sorted soon.

OP posts:
WishIWasSleeping · 25/10/2016 14:12

Just don't give up the paracetamol just yet! I only had stitches and I thought visiting day at home (about 10 days after birth) was a good day to go drug free...
It was not! Confused Grin

keepitgoing · 25/10/2016 15:04

Excitingimps! Why d'you want him to wait - what fun plans??

beedle glad it's moving in the right direction, the amounts are tiny aren't they - a wee or poo makes a big difference. I hope you can enjoy this precious time even though you're in hospital. Glad the bleedings not much - my first shower it looked like a murder scene... Shock

Imps9 · 25/10/2016 16:47

Beedles you've been through a whirlwind since last week. Your brain must be a scramble of emotions. We're here for hugs, hand-holding, ears and everything else as always.

I have some nice things and some necessary things to do before Friday Keep - friends visiting, day trips out, a visit from a heating engineer to size up the new boiler we need which should have been done in September but our builders have been extraordinarily slow, a new fridge-freezer being delivered ditto that re builders. A Saturday birth would suit me just fine! That said, I don't think that a show necessarily means that things will start naturally does it? So it may be a week or more still I suppose.

Mmmmm murder scenes in the shower - lovely!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 26/10/2016 08:57

She has put on more weight and has managed some breastfeeding as well as bottle feeding. I think we'll stay 1 more day and see if she initiates feeding rather than us waking her every 3 hours.

I didn't get the post birth bloodbath but I did have quite enough bleeding beforehand!

imps hope B-B stays put until Saturday! You will tell us when you go into labour even if you don't tell anyone else!

OP posts:
Imps9 · 26/10/2016 09:25

Oh good stuff Babybeedles. Brooking that she had a good and hungry day.

keepitgoing · 26/10/2016 09:29

Oh well done the beedles!! Really hope you've turned the corner now

imps my shows both time came out with my waters, which got labour started. This one with f was ginormous, gloopy, yucky really, I kind of thought they were just a small plug at the cervix but clearly not.

I'm getting f weighed today, he's a month old today! Chubbing up nicely I think

Imps9 · 26/10/2016 09:30

Oh and as for things happening, I've been having slightly stronger Braxton Hicks overnight, bad back/period pains and much more of a bloody show this morning. Got a MW appt at 11.30 so will be interesting to see where she thinks B-B is at.

Pastamancer · 26/10/2016 10:26

That all sounds very encouraging Imps, even if labour isn't starting yet your body is getting ready and will hopefully have started dilating a little.

Beedles hope that things continue to improve, have they shown you different feeding positions? DD1 kept falling asleep on the boob really quickly so the hospital showed me a different position to keep her awake longer. I sat her upright on my leg to feed her rather than lying her down and her feeds started getting longer immediately. It was called the natural position according the the mw and is also very good for reducing wind as they are in a better position and can bring wind up during the feed.

Straddle them so that they are sat on one leg with their legs either side, they will feed from the same side as they are sitting. If they are on your right leg then put your right hand on their back and your left one on the back of their head to support. You can also stroke the back of their neck to keep them awake and feeding this way. It certainly made a difference to us so worth trying if you are physically able.

ControlGeek · 26/10/2016 10:40

beedle so, so pleased that babybeedle is starting to put on weight, I hope you can both go home soon. It's very reassuring to hear you're managing fine just on paracetamol though I'd second the call to not ditch it too soon just because you feel fine - I did that with my codeine after my fibroid op and it took days to build back up into my system again!

imps ohhhhh yay for your show! Brooking that b-b works to your timetable, it sounds like you've got a lot of things to do before the end of the week.

I think I had my first braxton hicks yesterday - very odd sensation!
