Welcome Ima, this is a lovely, positive thread. Best of luck Smile

SuchaJem · 03/05/2016 20:38

radders I did the exact same thing in the loo at work today. Why can't semen be a different colour or something?!

ima we started trying for baby no1 in January too Smile exciting times! Welcome on board.

Hi parney glad to hear all going well Smile

Summerblush1982 · 03/05/2016 20:46

Welcome Imavinoops!!
My first too! Not pg yet though!! Ladies here are really suportive and quite insightful! You're in the best place!! :-)

raddersmrs · 03/05/2016 20:47

CD11Star

Parney nice to hear from you and glad all is going well!

That's the worse thing about dtd ... When we used condoms for a bit I absolutely loved it ... No leaky foof!

I went on top last night and I definitely noticed more coming out today than when in missionary... But I literally rolled off and went sleep. So suppose throughout the day it just makes its way down

With this opk business and doing it bang on I would be convinced we will be having a boy but we shall see

Tee are you going to dtd around ovulation this month or still a bit before to swing pink??

Welcome to the thread ima! Are you planning on using ovulation sticks soon??

Tee4me · 03/05/2016 21:11

Welcome aboard Ima, we're all here to support eachother through the highs and lows, look forward to sharing the journey with you!
Parney! Lovely to hear from you! Glad everything is progressing well.
Radders, yup I'm still subtly trying to sway pink, but don't want to do a big cut off, getting impatient! Planning to DTD for the last time when I get a positive (or ideally near positive) opk. That's usually my 24 hour warning. I'll then skip OD, then try again the morning after as per O+12 theory (environment changes down there 12 hours after ov to more acidic, favouring pink swimmers). I'm also on a low calorie crash diet this week, and continuing calcium & magnesium supps. Problem with swaying pink is you kind of need to make everything a bit less fertile (females are more hardy), so it's a difficult balance. Hope the diet is enough, as I could easily misjudge the timings if I'm only skipping one day. Hey ho, another little gentleman would be lots of fun too, my DS would be thrilled with a brother and I already have boy & girl names picked out! I'm just desperate to be pg now TBH! x

You girls need to practice your pelvic floor muscles! Keeps it in longer Wink

Summerblush1982 · 03/05/2016 21:27

My friends friend has got 2 boys. She was desperate for a girl so bought a book called 'how to conceive a girl' or similar to that. She followed it religiously! She had a girl!bit worked for her so thought I would mention xxx

Summerblush1982 · 03/05/2016 21:29

I'm starting on Dtd every other day for the next month! Going to test Monday next week, so I'm trying to get my back up plan in order!

Jodders · 03/05/2016 21:34

CD3 Hi all, AF is getting lighter now. I didn't use OPKs with my two and both are boys.

Tee I'm really interested in lightly swaying pink. Why the crash diet? When in your cycle should you start it?

Welcome Ima

Footprints I hope you get some answers tomorrow. *

Parney* lovely to hear from you! Glad all is well.

Everyone seems to be very positive - I have a good feeling about this thread!

Imavinoops · 03/05/2016 21:36

raddersmrs I'm not even sure where to start with ovulation sticks tbh. It's all rather new territory for me really. We're kinda just going for it as and when atm.
I'm trying not to make a big thing of it yet as I'm already super excited and I imagine if I start using ovulations sticks already then I'll probably get my crazy planning head on and start issuing commands to DP ;)
I'm not sure a military precision stance would go down too well at this stage.
(Also "leaky foofs" made me crease. I was lucky not to have woken DSS upstairs then! ;) )

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone! :D

Summer We would be happy with a boy of girl but MIL is desperate for a girl. (She had two Grandsons atm.) I would imagine she would love to get her hands on a book like that to send to us! :)

Jodders · 03/05/2016 21:40

Top tips for conceiving a girl
• have sex 2.5-4 days before you ovulate
• keep an ovulation chart so you know when you are ovulating
• have sex every day from the day when you finish your period
• avoid having sex which involves deep penetration – missionary position is best
• purchase an alkaline testing kit from the pharmacy to find out your vaginal ph
• eat foods that support a more acidic vaginal ph, like green leafy vegetables, wholegrains, meat, sweets, corn and blueberries

Jodders · 03/05/2016 21:41

Just researching. Now don't get me wrong a third boy would be fantastic too. I love being mummy to boys but I would love a daughter too.

Tee4me · 03/05/2016 21:41

Thanks Summer, I wonder how long it took your friend of a friend to conceive?? Trying for pink really lengthens the whole process, as the cut off advises you skip your most fertile few days of the month! I've been battling with myself about this. Thing is, I fell pg with my DS on cycle 3, which was the 1st cycle I tried ovulation testing, so I'm convinced we conceived him on OD, so I feel like there's some weight behind the theory, although I can't believe you can sway your chances massively above 50/50!

Imavinoops · 03/05/2016 21:46

Jodders Boys are great, like I say, we would be happy with either. Although a girl might make a nice ally in a house full of sticky, noisy boys. ;)
It is interesting though! I might do a bit of looking into it tomorrow.

Jodders · 03/05/2016 21:48

To boost your chances of having a baby girl, try eating more of these foods:
• Green leafy vegetables. Be aware that some researchers claim mothers who are keen to conceive with a girl should avoid most fruits and vegetables, though in a dietary sense this is generally not advisable for anyone. Folic acid is an important nutrient in the first trimester and green leafy vegetables are one of the major sources of folate.
• Wholegrains such as breads, cereal and rice.
• Meat.
• Sweets, lollies, desserts and cakes. (Lucky you)!
• Avoid eating nuts, specifically almonds.
• Eat corn and blueberries.
• Aim to eat foods which are high and rich in magnesium, such as fish, fruit and grains.
There is some science to support the theory that women who have a higher energy intake in their diets are more likely to have boys. More kilojoules per day favours those little boys it seems. So the reverse may be true to help boost the chances of having a girl. Just remember, there are no guarantees.

Jodders · 03/05/2016 21:49

Tee I didn't use OPKs BUT we only DTD once to fall PG with my second and in pretty sure it was on OV day.

Tee4me · 03/05/2016 21:55

Jod from the research I've done, it seems the biggest influential factor for swaying pink above timing is diet. Originally I was concentrating on high calcium (lots of dairy etc) and low sodium and potassium (no salt, potatoes or bananas). But the more I looked into it, the more I heard about the LE (low everything) diet which reported a lot more success. So, this is the first month I've tried. My plan is to crash diet in the 7 days leading up to OD (I started at the weekend). Eating a max of 1200 calories a day (still keeping an eye on salt & potassium and favouring calcium rich foods). Your egg is more likely to attract a pink swimmer, as your body believes 'times are hard' and therefore a blue embryo may not survive (they are more fragile).
Who knows, but worth a try and all passes the time for me!
Some women take sudafed & antihistamines, as these can dry up EWCM, making for s more hostile environment (favouring pinks). But I haven't gone that far, don't want to ruin my chances completely!
Are you doing anything to sway then Jod? x

Summerblush1982 · 03/05/2016 21:57

Tee, not sure how long it took but will find out. :-) I agree and think there is some weight behind the theory. I would be swaying pink too if I had boys. I would just want to give it a go and see! You will have to let us know how you get on :-)

Jodders · 03/05/2016 21:58

This is the first I have really thought about it. To be honest I need to lose a few pounds as have ballooned recently so it wouldn't do any harm to restrict calories anyway.

Nimisha · 03/05/2016 21:59

Cd3 Star and waiting for the witch to depart so I can get some warm up dtd in before FW.trying to stay positive.

Good luck tee, Racja and Jem for your FW. Hope the 2WW passes quickly Mimi and Summer (are you next to test?)

Footprints good luck with gynae appointment.

Physics, are you waiting for ov? Are you doing OPKs? I'm going to start again from CD 9. Its hard to keep track of everyone. And welcome Calvin.

Jodders · 03/05/2016 22:00

Nim we are now cycle twins!

Tee4me · 03/05/2016 22:03

I've lost 2lbs since Saturday doing this, so win-win hopefully! I'm just very conscious that the 1200cals I chose to eat are full of goodness. Been having lots of spinach and blueberries. Still want my body to be healthy and not undernourished at such an important time.
I hope the graduates stay with us to share scans!

I was eating well... Then all I've done this weekend is eat biscuits, cakes and chocolate! Hope my little eggs aren't effected.

I will be swaying one way or the other if we have a second so I'm with you all there xx
