Ok so I may have been overthinking this but wanted to pick people's brains.

The luteal phase is normally between 10 and 14 days.

For those of us who have irregular cycles it suggests we ovulate at different times each month (or every two months) and sometimes that can be much later in a cycle.

I'm now on day 43 and definitely didn't have any ov symptoms 10-14 days ago. All of that was around days 14-17 and 21-23.

So when the hell does ovulation actually happen?! Digital CB opk mocked me with 20+ flashing smiley and other opk's I never got a smiley. Starting to think my ovaries may be broken Confused

BoBo90 · 10/05/2016 08:51

Sorry Johno I've forgotten what cycle you are on but on my first cycle after the pill I had a surge in opks and ov pain and two weeks later it all started again. Sometimes your body gets all ready for ov but for whatever reason the egg isn't released so it tries again in a week or so. Luckily the egg released for me on the second surge. If yours didn't I don't know if your body will just try again or if you will eventually get af without ovulating at all xxx

Thanks Bobo. I'm on cycle 5 now of ttc. But came off the pill mid October. Seems like it's taking forever for my cycles to settle down.

May07 · 10/05/2016 13:17

Sorry you are in limbo Johno. Have you tried agnus castus? Can't remember who recommended so apologies if you have Blush. I tried this month as last cycle was 40+. Don't know full effect but pos ov test on day 18 vs day 33 last month. Also switched from SS vitamins to standard Folic with vit D. Or could just be body getting back to normal and nothing to do with what I am doing!

How long do people's ov pains/cramps last? I have had ache/cramp since positive opk on sat and sun. I normally just feel for one day. Hope I did actually ov and body not still trying!!

Helpmeconceive · 11/05/2016 00:11

Hey ladies still no sign of AF? I dno what's going on shud I test or is it to soon? Help

May07 · 11/05/2016 07:09

Hi Shan i would follow Bobo's advice. When do you think you ovulated? If it was before 27th April e.g. 14 days ago then I think you can test. If not then it's probably too early.

Johno85 · 11/05/2016 07:32

And that's me out for the month. Envy44 day cycle in the end. Weird as I dreamt AF arrived last night. That means ov must have been around cd 30-34ish but I had no ov symptoms. I'm gonna make me a Angus castus cocktail May! Anyone else back at the start of the cycle?

Helpmeconceive · 11/05/2016 19:57

I will leave it till next week see how I get on il keep ye all posted :)

SusieBu16 · 11/05/2016 20:11

Hi everyone hope you are all good?!

Awkward newcomer here! I hope that ok..

I am useless with all the jargon so you may have to help me out Blush it's all a minefield to me. This is my second month scrutinising every twinge ache or weird pain.

My story:
I have one little 5 year old monster from a previous relationship (he was a surprise while on pill) and I am now married to my wonderful husband - we have decided to try seriously.
I was diagnosed with PCOS in October 14 however we were not actively trying and was put back on pill at the time so didn't think much of it. I have been off pill since November now with not much happening :( but only really started taking things seriously last couple of months.
I have hospital scan tomorrow and bloods on Monday to see what's going on in there as PCOS was only diagnosed through a scan. My periods seem regular enough when I track them;not overweight or show many signs of PCOS ..so having a second opinion (fingers crossed).

If anyone has any advice about vitamins, lotions potions or miracle baby dust, throw them at me!

Apologies for the massive ramble. Feeling very lonely tonight - hubby in military and we have not long moved. TTC is not something I want to share with those close to us as I'm terrified it's not going to happen for us and I don't want all the excited faces turning disappointed every month Hmm

You can wake up now Blush lol X

ClaireSunflower · 12/05/2016 06:51

Hi, how's everyone doing? I am getting impatient now as I'm on cd18 and still no ovulation. For the last few days I've been getting faint lines on a test and this morning was hoping it would be positive but nope, the line is even fainter than yesterday! Feel like I'm never going back to normal after being on the pill!

BoBo90 · 12/05/2016 08:09

Sorry about af Johno! I think I'm going to be the same this cycle! No signs of ov and only 9 days left until af due 😔 It's either going to be an extra long cycle or anovulatory!

Welcome Susie! You're having a bit of a stressful time atm but hopefully your hospital appointment brings something positive! Having regular periods is really good though! If you do have pcos you could try taking your basal body temperature to confirm ovulation for peace of mind? Or ovulation predictor kits to show you are probably ovulating every cycle?
What cycle are you on now my lovely? I'll get you added to the list!

Claire sorry you are having a long boring wait 😞 Hope that Opk goes positive for you soon! Mine were the same this cycle! Loads more faint lines than normal and no positive! Seems a few of us are having ovulation problems - May is not our month! 😩

Hope our resident Preggos are feeling well and happy and our ladies on a break are feeling better too 😘 X

Hi ladies!

Sorry AF arrived Johno. At least you are out of limbo and can start a new cycle. Hopefully the AC cocktails help!

Welcome Susie! Good luck with scan today. Hopefully if your periods are pretty regular it will surprise you and happen soon. And don't apologise for rambling. My husband works away a lot so understand it can be quite lonely especially when you are feeling a bit fed up. It's a very welcoming bunch on here so here to support.

Fingers crossed you OV soon Sunflower. Don't know about you but my OPKs turn from very faint to very positive very quickly so fingers crossed a positive is just round the corner.

Sorry no OV for you either Bobo. Are you still tracking? People have had positive stories even with long cycles so hopefully not a wasted cycle. Did you have a nice holiday?

Nothing much to report here. CD23 and about 5DPO. Thinking/trying to spot symptoms but nothing to actually spot! Not had a LP over 9 days since being off pill so will see what happens.

SusieBu16 · 12/05/2016 14:24

Thanks BoBo and May
No scan today - had to cancel appointment as husband didn't show up home as he was supposed to and not contactable Hmm and my son was sent home from school with chicken pox!!
It has been a really crappy week!
I am a bit rubbish with all jargon BoBo but I have been using period tracker since December and according to the app I am 12 days from AF. And my cycles range from 29-33 days!
I hope you're all having a better day lol xx

BoBo90 · 13/05/2016 07:49

May - I'm still on holiday atm but it's lovely and sunny and nice to be away! I didn't bring any opks with me so dh and I are doing it old school and just dtd every 2/3 days and seeing what happens. I don't feel like I've ov'd though so I'm not very hopeful for this cycle 😩
I really hope you make it past 9dpo and we have another bfp to add to the list 😊 I'm keeping my fx for you lovely!

Susie - that's a shame about the scan! I hope you don't have to wait too long for another. Fx for the weekend is much better for you 😊 You've got nice regular periods so that's really good! X

Any of you ladies tried any seven seas vitamin products or any of the lubricants that are supposed to help you conceive? Smile just wondering if it's worth it! I read good things on Amazon x

May07 · 13/05/2016 10:25

Glad your having a nice break Bobo sure it will be doing you good! We are going away in a few weeks and can't wait for some sun. Hopefully going old school without squinting at strips everyday will work a treat for you.

I re-looked at my dates and never made it past 8 days so even more of a worry! Wouldn't have even had chance to implant by then! Although if it was only 8 days this time cycle would only be 27 days, massive drop after 40+ so hopefully AF will take a bit longer. Or better still not come at all! Must stay positive! Smile

Hope your little one ok susie and not suffering too much with chicken pox. Do you know how long another scan could take? Hopefully bloods will provide an insight on Monday.

Hope everyone else is well and looking forward to the weekend!! Grin

May07 · 13/05/2016 10:28

Crossed post susie! I tried seven seas from well before trying to get it in the system. However no luck and read some people thought they messed with cycles so stopped taking.

However I know others have positive stories. Think it was chapman that tried and got pregnant first month.

SusieBu16 · 13/05/2016 10:55

thanks May fingers and toes crossed for you!
He is only suffering from boredom and inability to sit still for 5 minutes Grin
Hopefully won't take too long for another scan, will have to ask doc on monday! the appointment came through pretty quickly that time (literally 2 weeks!) so I have a more positive head on today.
Some relaxation and sunshine will hopefully do you the world of good. It can all get a bit much sometimes with daily life to contend with as well!

May07 · 13/05/2016 14:08

Thanks Susie.

Unfortunately I am feeling less positive. Started with creamy cm (sorry Tmi). Looking back at ovia I always seem to start with this 3 days before AF. Great! Funny how you can go from positive to pissed off in a matter of hours!! Angry

SusieBu16 · 13/05/2016 15:58

May I don't think there is such a thing as TMI when you're in our boats! Hopefully it's not AF on way. Keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Cookie22 · 13/05/2016 18:44

Hi everyone, hope you're all well! Sorry for the absence, I just feel like I'm taking AFs arrival even tougher as the months go in. Felt particularly hopeful this months after the early spotting and weird pelvic pains. Oh well, a new cycle! CD9 and not much going on so just chilling out for the time being.

How are we all doing? I haven't had a chance to read where we all are at in our cycles!! Fill me in ladies! (Or I could just not be lazy and scroll up lol!). Oooh ridiculous -huge congrats to you Hun!! Wow amazing news!! And welcome Susie, it always nice to have new girlies here! Bobo have you ov'd yet? How was your hol?? Hope our resident preggo are keeping well- it will be 12 week scan time soon for some of you! Xx

Sunnydays321 · 13/05/2016 21:44

Hi ladies: sorry iv not been around this week, just trying to step back a bit and not be too anxious. Time is going slowly! 10 weeks and 1 day. I am keeping an eye on you all though!

Johno sorry af got you. Sucks. Fingers crossed for next month. X

Welcome suzie. I also had pcos diagnosed on scan. Normal weight, normal hormone levels, bit of acne and irregular cycles but no other symptoms. I'm preggers now so it obviously didn't impact too much. We did try for 6 months and had really odd cycles and short luteal phase but got there with a combo of opks (which still worked despite the pcos) temping to confirm ov, and Angus castus. Hope you get your scan soon.

May any symptoms? My luteal phase was only 7-9 days max. I had a worrying scan one cycle at 7dpo where they saw no evidence of ovulation.. But I think it was just too late and had already started to break down as came on next day. But I did get pregnant so was obviously long enough to implant. Good luck.

Bobo hope you are having a splendid holiday and that the chilled out approach works for you this month!

Cookie sorry this month has hit you hard. It does get harder and harder each cycle. But you will get there!

I was really sick again tonight, had a long day at work (I'm on call and ended up staying 2 hours) with almost no food. Really hoping i don't get called out tonight. Dh is offering very minimal amounts of sympathy. I know it's hard to really "get" how crappy someone else feels, but come on, if he was nauseous and vomiting for a month I would never hear the end of it!! Haha, he is doing most of the kitchen cleaning/dishes though as its grim! I'm not really moaning as I know how lucky I am to be here, and the symptoms make me feel better. Just, why couldn't pregnancy symptoms be more pleasant, ie instead of vomiting, tiredness and spots we could get great skin, cry sweeties and feel floaty and relaxed!! Haha wishful thinking.

Have a nice weekend everyone. Think of me vomming my way through my 8 day stretch at work with my two 16 hour all night on calls!! Xx

May07 · 14/05/2016 10:58

Hi Cookie lovely to have you back. So sorry you are having a tough time. It's difficult to keep getting your hopes up and it not happen. Take care and hope this cycle is the one. I always find the first couple of weeks the hardest. So hope you feel brighter soon.

Exciting you are now 10 weeks Sunny. Do you have your scan date? Sorry sickness and work proving difficult. Does not sound fun. Hope OH looks after you, must be hard for them to understand when it's the early days but realise that doesn't help you.

In regards to my symptoms I just have standard AF symptoms e.g. creamy CM, constantly erect nipples (random!! Blush), really hot in the night etc.

I have been far more aware of pelvic pains this time but think you just become more aware over the months. Not under any illusions it means anything.

Interesting you had short luteal phase too makes me feel a bit better knowing you still managed to get pregnant.

Hope everyone else well!!

ClaireSunflower · 15/05/2016 09:23

Hi ladies. Can I ask what brand opks you are all using? So far I've been using the green one step cheapies from eBay which I quite like, mainly because you can poas all you like without it costing very much! This month I decided to splash out on the clear blue digital ones but am not finding them much use. Looks like I am ovulating very late this cycle again as I'm now on cd20 and nothing Confused. At least on the cheap ones you can see a line getting darker (looking quite dark today but not peak) but on the clear blue ones all you get is a yes or no which can be a bit disheartening. No smiley for me yet! Think I will be sticking to the cheapies from now on!

Loulabelle1990 · 15/05/2016 12:21

Hi Claire, this is my first cycle using OPK's. I started off with the cheapies but recently got the clear blue dual hormone one as it shows she you are highly fertile and then your peak. I am currently on CD 15 or 16 and the line isn't getting any darker on the cheapies - do you think it's too early to be getting darker on a 33 day cycle?

The CB ones I have have been all negative so far, I started using the pink CB one but used the purple dual one the first time this morning. When you take the CB stick out you can see the lines on the other side too xxx
