Hi ladies,

This is the 2nd thread following on from

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2452018-Waiting-to-try-and-cycle-a-mess-from-the-pill

For everyone who is entering the madness that is Ttc after stopping the pill. Maybe to start the thread we could all post our stats, so we remember where everyone is at and don't have to check the old thread. X

Yes it was! My OH made me buy the most expensive one!

Maple14 · 22/02/2016 12:16

So despite no symptoms of anything, today I finally have my second AF post mc. It's cd 42 so for me that's a lot better than the 180 day cycles last year!
I am hoping this is me back to having a cycle of sorts.

Does anyone have any advice on using OPK's? If I do end up with a cycle of around 40 days when would you start testing?

LemonShizzleCake · 22/02/2016 13:45

Ooh Maple a visit from AF is never fun but at least it shows you're on a more "normal" cycle. Congrats for that! I've heard that even with irregular cycles, it's very rare to have a luteal phase longer than 10-14 days-ish, so if you're on a 40 day cycle I would
be inclined to start OPKs around day 22ish, to make sure you don't miss the boat, assuming you'd ovulate around day 26-30? Massive disclaimer is that I've not used OPKs myself yet, so others might have more accurate advice...this is just what I would assume based on reading about them.

I have bought my first batch of prenatal supplements (folic acid et al, no vitamin A) which makes this whole business feel very real and official! Shock Smile

Sunnydays321 · 22/02/2016 22:09

Sorry about af maple, but like you say hopefully on track for more normal cycles now! My cycles are really irregular so I normal start opks from about cd10 ish, just in case I ovulate early (which I don't normally!!) but they are so super cheap on Amazon I don't feel like it's too much of a waste. But like lemon said if your cycles are 40 days I would start around cd 20-22ish.

I thought I was going to get a positive opk today.. Cd20. My morning and afternoon ones were almost positive but not. And then the late evening one was more negative. So hopefully it's a false surge and real surge will be in next couple of days. All my opks all cycle have fairly dark 2nd line, but I know I will recognise a true positive because they have been so dark in previous months. Also bad timing as I have a stinking cold.. We haven't dtd for a couple of days, and I just can't really be bothered, I just want to sleep, and I look particularly attractive right now: snotty and red nosed! :( but if positive opk is tomorrow I need some swimmers up there ready. I will probably asleep long before DH comes to bed! X

CD26 and 5 days to go before AF arrives :) as estimate dpo :/ have no symptoms atal apart from tiredness, and heartburn the other day all day :( have a load of CM the past week also. Other that that iv no signs iv DTD a good few times this month as DH keeps chancing his arm almost every chance he gets 😅 but what can ya do ya might aswel enjoy it 😅

Cookie22 · 23/02/2016 18:13

Hey girls, seen this thread near the bottom of the page and thought I'd do a wee bump! Been trying to keep my mind off testing etc the past few days & trying to keep busy! 7/8dpo now and no sign of AF yet. I could have sworn I had a tiny tiny amount of old brown blood in my CM today and did a wee silent cheer when I seen it, hoping it was implantation! Who knows! No other symptoms though.

Maple, so sorry to hear about AF. Hoping your cycles are starting to regulate now tho! Aw Lemon it is mega exciting getting all your vitamins etc organised. Is that you good to go this month then? Sunny, how are those OPKs looking now? Hoping March brings a wave of BFPs! I just can't believe my last period was the start of January. This cycle has been ridiculously horrible! Xx

LemonShizzleCake · 23/02/2016 19:22

FX that was a little implantation bleed, Cookie! Must be horrible waiting to test, but no point testing too soon and being disappointed getting a BFN when it might in fact be a BFP if you wait a bit!

shankate you made me laugh - DTD can be such a chore Wink Haha. FX you caught your ov this month, the symptoms you do have sound promising!

We are pretty much ready for launch (Grin) now - docs appt tomorrow to ask them for a rubella immunity blood test (think I have to go to blood dept at hospital, so they won't do it there and then which is annoying) and ask them if there's anything else I need checked/need to do in preparation. I'm currently CD15 of what I suspect will be a 50 day cycle, so no rush to DTD just yet.

lawyeredout82 · 23/02/2016 19:38

Hello everyone. Not much to report from me.

I had an internal ultrasound yesterday to check on my unusual bleeding (with a very dishy doctor...cringe!!) and apparently my ovaries and womb are perfect condition. Still waiting on the smear results but hopefully they're clear too.

So, a question for you - what is the consensus on how soon is too soon to test? I think I am about 7-9 dpo (I had a positive opk last Sunday) and could only DTD on Sunday night due to doctors orders on the Monday saying I have to abstain for 2 weeks to see if cervix heals. I have a frer sitting in the cupboard and it is calling me!!! can't seem to keep away from the pregancy tests but worried if I succumb this early I will be driving myself mad for the next week about whether it is a false negative...

Cookie22 · 23/02/2016 19:44

Wow, lemon you are so super organised. Go you!! I didn't really do anything like that when me and DH decided to try, apart from coming off the pill! I'm already prescribed iron and folic acid because I'm anemic so didn't need to buy any more vitamins! Keep thinking I should perhaps be taking something like pregnacare too though incase there's something I'm missing out tho! FX for you that your cycle won't be too long this time Mrs xx

Cookie22 · 23/02/2016 19:49

Lawyer, glad to hear your ultrasound went well! That must be reassuring! I think the general consensus with frer is that 10dpo is probably best time to start testing. I may be wrong tho! I have a bundle of ICs so I find it hard to resist after 8dpo! Xx

lawyeredout82 · 23/02/2016 19:52

Gosh cookie I know - am like a child at Christmas with the presents in the cupboard but then know that I am going to be even more disappointed if it is a BFN than if AF just arrives!! Also, the tests are so blinking expensive!!!

Cookie22 · 23/02/2016 20:00

Ooh I know what you mean Lawyer! Get my frer off eBay for £3 so I have 2 of them ready for when I test and also a clear blue digi! Costs a fortune this ttc malarkey Grin xx

Cookie22 · 23/02/2016 20:01

I get*

firstgo1984 · 23/02/2016 20:53

I somehow managed to resist until 13dpo!
I do wonder how early it would have been positive on a FRER.
I think i implanted around 8dpo (based on cramping) so i guess a few days after that.
Still no real symptoms to speak of. Nipples getting slightly tender.
4+2 i think now.

Will keep coming back here to see how you all get on.

Cookie22 · 24/02/2016 07:45

Well AF got me this morning. Feeling decidedly raging/upset/overwhelmingly crappy. 7 or 8 day luteal phase yet again so this has made me even more frustrated at the whole thing. Going to take some time to myself for a while. Good luck to everyone waiting on their Bfps xxx

firstgo1984 · 24/02/2016 07:48

Sorry to hear that cookie.

NewGirl2015 · 24/02/2016 11:07

Hi ladies!
Sorry I've not been around much, been trying to chill out a bit and not think about ttc every minute. Plus I was really down after AF arrived last month and just needed to sulk to myself for a bit!

Seems like I've missed loads, so happy we've had 2 BFP's first and Yvonne! Great great news and gives us all hope.

So I'm 7dpo this cycle, in the 2ww but not all that hopeful this month as my temps have been all over the place. We DTD -2 and -1 days of Ov but not on the day as we were both ill and didn't want to force it.
A snap of my OPK's for you all as I swapped to a different brand half way through (clinical guard blue handle, one step green handle) and it turns out they were way more sensitive. The two that I've started were taken at exactly the same time!! So whilst that line is really dark I'm still confident my positive was earlier in the week but the crappy OPKS didn't show it up very well.

Hope everyone's good!

Two that I've starred not started Confused

Sunnydays321 · 24/02/2016 17:38

New girl, that's interesting. I use the green top opks and mine have a fairly dark 2nd line almost all the way through my cycle.. Think they are just sensitive. Don't think Iv ovulated yet as previous months the test line has been way darker than control. See the picture, I think I had a false surge as got darker, then lighter again with out going positive (and I tested 4x that day like a maniac so I don't think I missed it!) still waiting for Ov cd21 X

eggsinthefridge · 25/02/2016 17:50

Sorry about AF cookie! You were saying about taking different vitamins. I am taking pregnacare preconception vitamins, and there is vitamin b12 and b6 in them. Apparently they are supposed to help increase short luteal phases. I'm been taking them for a few months now (6 months?), and although I haven't seen much different, I have only had 2 cycles in that time so I don't have much evidence yet.

Sunnydays321 · 25/02/2016 21:35

Ohh ladies, sorry to bang on about it but opks are still messing me around! Dark at about 5pm, tested again at 9pm Hopi. For a positive, but NO. Lighter again. Still not ov'd... Why are they so dark if they aren't positive. They have been like this for about a week now! Previous months I always have a 2nd line, but these are darker. But previous months my positives have been really really positive. Think ovaries are crap!

Morning everyone!

Haven't been on in a while because bugger all is happening with me! Waiting for a second line on opks and not sure whether I should ov next week (wishful thinking based on a normal cycle length) or whether I'll be waiting for another month before it happens like cycle 1! Waiting is so boring!

Bit late but CONGRATS FIRST!! Grin

Sunny - it could be lighter at 9pm because your wee is more diluted. That might explain why the line goes lighter but I have no idea why you are getting so many dark lines. Must be so frustrating for you! Could you try temping at the same time to help pinpoint ovulation? x

firstgo1984 · 26/02/2016 09:03

Thanks bobo. I keep popping back to see how everyone is getting on. Just to warn you all the first few weeks feels like a prolonged 2ww. Just hoping all stays ok. Fairly sure i am 4+5 today. Got a sneaky scan at work to check i wasn't further than j thought. Saw the tiniest hint of a sac and a lovely thick lining. Will scan agai next week when hopeully there will be a much bigger sac to see.

sunny sorry your opks are confusing. I got so frustrated with mine at times!

Flamingo88 · 26/02/2016 10:40

Hi All
Havent posted anything for a while, just been lurking and seeing how everyone is getting on -
Congrats First, thats so awesome news! we weren't going to ttc until mid March but valentines day we both thought, why are we waiting?! Now I'm in 2ww and obsessively symptom spotting. I am so desperate to get a BFP now we are trying, I think it's the mental side of wanting to be able to plan, and knowing if it doesn't happen this time (which is likely) it'll be another two weeks until we get our next chance. Weeks seem so long when you want a bfp. I'm sorry, you guys all know this and have had to deal with this for ages, I'm just trying to get my head round the emotion of it all I guess. I need to hope for a bfp but be prepared in case it's a neg result. Trying desperately not to get my hopes up!! Not due AF until thu next week. It is going to be a long six days until then!
Anyways, good luck everyone, let's have a few more BFPs soon! xx
