Terrified.. but excited

My boyfriend and I have decided we want to start trying for a baby. I've made an appointment to have the coil removed on Wednesday 18th November. I'm excited, but at the time I feel terrified and nervous, and keep wondering if this feels weird. Did anybody else get these feelings? Or did people have zero worries or nervousness at all?

Glad to hear you're not feeling scared anymore - I know the feeling! :) Ahh that's good to know, I wasn't sure what the average was - i was worrying we weren't going enough, but I don't really know too much about 'normal' etc.

I guessed you meant baby :) Totally get what you mean with the family thing.

What names have you thought of? I think we really like Alfie for a boy, but not too sure about girls.. i quite like Amelie :) xx

I have a full list haha but I like Sebastian James or Theo for a boy and Arabella, Lilliana, Sienna/Sierra for a girl plus a few more. I've realised I like a girls name to end in an ASmile it's a massive pressure naming a child though and I'll be scared to tell my family incase they put me off!
I also really liked the name Autumn James for boy or girl but I feel like people would do that thing of going 'oh that's unusual', then bitch behind my back haha!
I don't really have a clue on what's normal either, I think just have sex when you can and enjoy it. My main priority atm is to keep really fit and healthy, so lots of exercise and keeping food relatively healthy. Plus started taking multi vits and folic acid.
What are you doing to prepare? Do you know what kind of birth you want? X

Btw Amelie is so pretty and I love Alfie, I just worry incase older people would think his name would be Alfred..but Alfie is so cute. I liked Albi too for a boy X

Those are all really cute names - I really like James and Sebastian! They sound like they'd work quite well together as first and middle names in either order :)

I'm not doing too much to prepare - I'm taking folic acid, and starting to go to the gym more and eat cleaner but that's it. I did wonder if I should make any appointments/investigate fertility etc, but I was advised that at the age of 23 (my age) I shouldn't need to worry about anything unless no conception occurs in 12 months? How about you? :) I haven't thought shout the actual birth yet.. Have you? xx

Best of luck ladies, that's exciting that you're both already ttc!!
I'm stressing myself out so much I've barely had my period this week Confused Weekend away tomorrow will hopefully help clear my head a bit I think that thinking about this along with work/gym/busy time of year it's all just getting to me a bit! I have no time to myself or with the hubby.

It might be coming off the pill helping you enjoy getting jiggy more - sure I read somewhere that being on the pill can mess with your libido a bit, that's true for me anyway, have fun!

I really like all those names, Alfie, Theo and Arabella are particularly lovely! I struggle with girls names though, I've got a whole page of boy options but like three for girls!

Preferably a birth that doesn't hurt... Wink :(
I bought the 'new pregnancy bible' to help me wrap my head around things but I haven't opened it yet, I don't know if reading into everything in more detail is going to help or just terrify me further!

Haha yeah I think I am scaring myself more by reading about the birth, I think I want an elective c-section tbh but I know you're not meant to say that. I've heard to May friends and family with terrible stories of tears and stitches and I like the idea I can plan the birthday of my little one (I'm a bit of a control freakBlush).
Yes try not to stress out, this time of year is hectic anyway so maybe give yourself until after the new year when you can focus a bit more and have more free time with you and hubby?
Has anyone researched genetic screening? Me and my husband don't really have any illness or special needs family members in our families but I do think it would give me peace of mind if I knew we were both clear of any hereditary disorders/illnesses. I don't know if doctors can do this before or after you test positive though?
Good luck ladies, have fun trying! Xx

I definitely realised I was overthinking the whole thing and working myself up/getting sad. Since taking a back it's so surprising how much nicer it is!

I hope you're ok Zeetea - it does sound pretty hectic :( I'm not going to kid myself about childbirth being comfortable or dignified, but I just don't want any excessive scarring or damage. No idea how likely that is though. I'm trying not to read about t loads just yet because I don't want to freak myself out!

I haven't thought about genetic screening - Of course I would love a healthy child but I guess I haven't looked into that either as we come from (touch wood) fairly healthy families without any disorders/addictions and stuff xx

Maybe I'm thinking far too much about it all, I probably need to relax myself and just see what happens.
On another note, has anyone been having really weird vivid dreams since coming off their contraception? Literally for the last week my dreams have been so real and really weird, probably totally unrelated or just the fact I have a lot on my mind at the mo.
Xx

We're here if you need to talk about anything! I haven't really had any weird dreams, but I never really had them pre-contraception. Maybe it's because so much is on your mind? xx

Ahh thanks ladies. Haha I'm a LOT of a control freak, I understand what you mean. I'll have a little flick through the book tonight and if it gets me all queasy I'll leave it until necessary lol.

My dreams are pretty bad right now but I think that's worry lol, maybe that's it? Are either of you taking iron with your folic acid actually? Giving me awful tummy troubles! Blush

I know that sort of screening gets done - I think around the 12 week time maybe? - but not sure if you could request it before, I'm sure you'll both be fine though! Smile

I'm worried about scarring too, (tearing: worst nightmare) and incontinence... And everything.
Stay away from the childbirth section on here for now lol X

So today I thought it was a good idea to do a pregnancy test..even though I KNOW its far too soon and I only had the coil out 18th and I'm not due a period until Monday 30th. It of course turned out negative.
Does this sound weird but I felt like I was having pregnancy symptoms?! I don't know if I'm going a bit mad but I actually feel like I am PG. I'm more tired than usual, I'm starving hungry every morning and I just have this instinct that I am (woman's tuition?). I know I sound a bit crazy, I shouldn't have taken a test becuase it's far too early to tell even if I am and it's deflated me slightly. However I'm looking on the bright side and looking forward to drinks and Xmas parties over the coming weeks. I am promising myself not to do another test until near Xmas..but then I am due my period on Monday so I feel like I'll go mad if I don't come on ( I don't think my cycle is regular) and then wait until near Xmas for a test.
Do I sound mad? I think becuase it's my main focus at the mo I need something to keep my mind off bloody pregnancy/babies Confused
Sorry for the essay btw xx

Also Zeetea, yes I have been taking multi vits with extra iron which has been causing me tummy problems too! I'm getting more 'regular' now (sorry for too much info) just been eating LOADS of veg.
Hope your tummy gets back to normal soon X

No I don't think you're mad, at least I know it's very common amongst women TTC to feel as though they are pregnant when they're not! It's happening to my friend as well, has all these symptoms then her period arrives damnit. Wishing you the best of luck with your next test Grin
No idea what my cycle is like which will be fun to find out, but yes until then relax and have a good time with the Crimbo goodies!

So glad it's not just me! I didn't even think it could be the iron until I read it somewhere else, it's been a right pain in the arse at work WinkX
