Conception

Terrified.. but excited

My boyfriend and I have decided we want to start trying for a baby. I've made an appointment to have the coil removed on Wednesday 18th November. I'm excited, but at the time I feel terrified and nervous, and keep wondering if this feels weird. Did anybody else get these feelings? Or did people have zero worries or nervousness at all?

I'm so glad I've found this thread, I'm new here too and I took my last pill last night and I am PETRIFIED!! I actually haven't even told the hubby that was my last packet, although he can't wait to start trying - I feel like I need a little while to wrap my head around it first before he gets all super excited you know? I'm very private and frightened so this is just going to be kept between me and hubby until as long as possible into the pregnancy, so it's nice to be able to have this place so I can still express myself :)
I am so so scared ladies, but glad I'm not the only one!
Has everyone else started 'stuff for little one' lists? Blush

Well join the club, I think we are all a bit nervous here. I'm getting more excited now though, I've even started planning my baby shower haha! I haven't actually started looking at stuff for the baby yet but I keep seeing cute clothes and shoes in the shops. Once you tell your hubby I think it'll sink in a bit more and you can get excited together and start making plans. I felt so much better once I'd told my mum just becuase I could get excited and it felt more real. Good luck with the 'trying' process, I keep thinking I don't want to be pregnant before Xmas but I keep looking at my ovulation calendar and can't wait to have sex again Blush what will be, will be I guess.
This is such an exciting adventure we've started xxx

Haha yes, I have my eye on a few bottles glasses of baileys over Christmas, but we'll see! I like the idea of starting January completely afresh with this too :)
Doing lots of reading up for now on how best to prepare before TTC, and what to expect etc, so much information it's a little overwhelming x

Sorry I'm really new so don't know what these abreviations mean like TTC mean Blush January does seem like a good time plus I would like a September/October baby, but I guess I can't choose Grin x

Yes me too, would love an autumn baby!

TTC - trying to conceive, I saw this all over the place and had a look on the 'acronyms' page at the top, all the gobbledygook makes more sense now haha! Grin

Oh great thank you, will have a look at the acronyms now!
Hope you're feeling a bit more excited now. Have you told your hubby yet? X

Hey ladies - sorry for the late reply, I'm currently in NYC! :) I've told a friend that we're starting trying and he was really supportive about it! Me and A have been intimate twice now since removing the coil, but I've realised he's pretty relaxed about the approach - not that he's not bothered, but rather he doesn't want to force or pressure anything in case it makes the experience stressful. When he first said this i was so upset - I felt like he wasn't as excited as I was if that makes sense? But now I'm actually quite happy with going with the flow and taking it as it comes (no pun intended) - it's definitely made it more fun and less scary!

also - yes to making mental lists about clothes and stuff that would be needed! I'm too excited about everything :)

Since having the coil out I've started bleeding straightaway - I'm pretty sure it's a period but on the coil I virtually never got them so I don't know if it would be due now or not. Does anyone know how fertile/likely to conceive you are on a period?!

Hey Sophie, hope you're having a great time in NYC, my favourite place in the world!
I started spotting today since having the coil out on Wednesday. I hardly had periods on the coil too but I did have a full
period at end of October so I am really messed up with my cycle/fertile days etc.
I'm getting more and more excited, I told my best friend yesterday too (can't shut me up now) and it's getting me excited about actually getting pregnant. However I keep hearing how horrible pregnancy is Blush
I need to start researching on what we will need before the baby comes, I have NO idea about baby stuff so will have to get researching. X

Don't know why that last post came up twice!

So it looks like I'm ovulating on my first month off the pill unless my eyes are deceiving me... Wow didn't expect my body to get back to normal so fast! All getting real now.

Terrified.. but excited

I was spotting again yesterday so have no clue about my cycle. I might buy an ovulation test too so I can see if my body is getting back to normal. Is anyone scared about pregnancy? I'm excited to have a bump but I'm just worried when people tell me about all the bad things about it. Hopefully it will run smoothly and I won't be the size of the house X

Hope you're enjoying NYC Sophie!

I'm also already worried about people wanting to tell you all their horrid stories, I'm not sure I could cope I'm just going to be blunt with people and tell them it's not something I need to hear, no idea people think it's okay to pass on horror stories to pregnant ladies.
I plan on wearing headphones whenever I'm out of the house too and I've started to show - apparently people just come up to those with bumps and think it's okay to touch it and ask personal questions?! I would not be okay with that! Shock

I'm loving it here! That sounds horrible about people coming up to you and stuff. I am not down for that one bit! I'm torn between wanting to know more about what to expect or being blissfully ignorant and taking the horrible things as they come. Not really sure which is the better option?!

Yeah I keep asking people about their pregnancy stories but everyone seems to have horrible experiences so I would rather not know now! As long as we keep happy and healthy I'm sure we'll be fine.
Quick question..if I don't know my fertility/cycle when do you think I should take a pregnancy test? I'm really excited about that moment of finding out but don't want to rush.
Hope you've all had a nice weekend xx

I have no idea re pregnancy test - I'm not sure how long you have to have been pregnant for it to tell you whether you are or not? It might just be me being ignorant though! I think I'm going to check if I've gone 5 week without having a bleed, otherwise I'll be checking everyday! :) xx

How is everyone getting on? I feel so much more excited about it all now, we're actively TTC but I don't mind if I don't get pregnant before Xmas..however I have found I am scanning mumsnet for tips to concieve etc. I don't want to become one of those people who religiously sticks to having sex on ovulation days though, I still want to enjoy it and don't want to put pressure on us.
What are you most looking forward to? Apart from the obvious of having a beautiful partner you and your partner created. X

Hey Indi! I think things are going ok - since having the coil removed a week ago, we've done it like 4 times - I'm not sure if this is average/above average though. We're just going with the flow and not structuring it/making it a chore. I get the sense he doesn't How about you? :) I don't want to be crazy re ovulation dates and stuff too, but A works away during the week too, but I'm going to try not to overkill it.

I'm looking forward to loving and looking after somebody new and helping them get the best of life. Not like money wise, but experience and values and stuff :) how about you guys? x

Yeah everything is good with me too, not scared anymore which is a good sign haha just excited! Think we've had sex 4 times too since last Wednesday, I am finding I am wanting it more than usual. I've read every 2-3 days is best when TTC.
In my last post I said to make a beautiful partner..obviously meant beautiful baby haha! Yeah I can't wait to have my own mini me and just have a family of my own. I think it will bring me and my husband even closer, maybe not with the sleepless nights thoughHmm and I can't wait to see my mum being a nanny.
Have you thought of any names yet? I have a list already Blush finding girls names easier than boys though xx
