We have been so busy chatting I've started a new thread. Welcome all 10+ ladies. Hope we all have some luck on this thread.

Hi Trixie
Thank you, yes my partner had his test done a couple of weeks back and my bloods came back on Friday. Both our results are good but not sure if it just stops there or we are entitled to get anything else checked. I am going in on Friday again just to see what else they can do if anything. I have been reading through everyone's posts and I can see that you are all going through quite a journey yourselves!

Salimali15 · 08/11/2015 18:05

What bloods did you have? The key tests are progesterone (day 21) to show if you have ovulated and AMH which identifies your ovarian reserves. Both very useful starting points. Then non-blood, you may need to do a HSG which checks that the fallopian tubes are open.

loopylou1984 · 08/11/2015 19:36

I've clearly not posted in a while as had list the thread!

Waves to everyone.

I didn't get my AMH test on the nhs until the point of referral to the fertility clinic. I had already had a private one by then, but the nhs insisted on wasting their own money on another!

Trixie - how's the pmt? Xx

Emma21lou · 08/11/2015 20:02

I had a day 21 blood test which said it confirmed ovulation however I'm aware I could still have a blockage? It's just good to know that there are people out there who are going through the same thing or similar...! Xx

Trixielilac11 · 09/11/2015 09:08

PMT seems to have calmed down a bit Sammy but AF is late which is really annoying as I have my hospital appointment tomorrow and may need to change my hysteroscopy appointment next week now. Am on CD 31 and cycles are usually 29/30 days. Did a test yesterday just in case and BFN. Had cramps on CD 29 and thought it was starting but nothing.

You will probably be referred for a scan Emma to make sure everything looks healthy and then am hsg to make sure your tubes are clear. Bare in mind that lots of people who haven't conceived within a year will conceive within 2 years.

Emma21lou · 09/11/2015 11:37

I think sometimes that a year isn't that long. I know people have been trying for years and years. I think your mind wanders sometimes doesn't it and the what ifs come.

Itsme247 · 09/11/2015 14:01

I hope all goes well for you Emma.

I went to the docs quite early really, I knew deep down something was not happening for us. Trust your instinct and ask for things to be checked out if you aren't happy.

lucieloos · 09/11/2015 16:31

I also went to docs really early as I just felt something wasn't right too. Went for initial tests after 6 months and got put onto IVF waiting list when still nothing at a year.

loopylou1984 · 09/11/2015 18:08

I had that 'it's not right' feeling too, but sadly told the truth about how long we'd been ttc so go couldn't refer us until the one year mark. It seems so long ago now! Xx

loopylou1984 · 09/11/2015 18:09

Tricia - any sign of AF? I know you're probably trying desperately not to get your hopes up, so sending hugs your way. Xx

Trixielilac11 · 09/11/2015 18:56

I've had the odd cramp Sammy but no sign of AF. My cycles were sometimes up to 34 days last year but since starting reflexology and taking a more relaxed approach to ttc they've been 29-30 days without fail. I wonder if maybe the upset of the failed FET has delayed things. I guess I'll have to do a test in the morning if AFs not here by then. I've got my hopes up a little bit as the day has gone on but don't have any symptoms at all. And if I was I'm sure there'd have been at least a squinter on the test yesterday pm.

lucieloos · 09/11/2015 19:27

Aww that's annoying trixie. I have to say that since having the antibiotic treatment and IVF my cycles have got longer by about 5 days. It's a good thing for me as I've gone from only 23 days to a perfect 28. I don't know if the antibiotics sorted me out or if the IVF has thrown things off but it's been like it for a while now.

Hi Sammy, hope all is ok with you.

OP posts:
Trixielilac11 · 09/11/2015 20:53

I hope not Lucie, don't want my cycles being longer, I read somewhere that with long cycles you ovulate later and when you ovulate late in your cycle the egg quality isn't so good. My cycles after my first IVF went straight back to 29/30 days (without doing reflexology) and my cycle after the antibiotics was 30 days. Last cycle was 34 days but that was due to meds. AF didn't arrive until 3 days after stopping my meds as I'd been pumped so full of progesterone, maybe this is lingering effects of that.

lucieloos · 09/11/2015 21:35

I think ovulation has to be after day 23 to be classed as late ovulation and to potentially have any effect on egg quality. Anything before that is fine. It could just be the effects of the treatment. After I took the antibiotics back in May/June I had one more short cycle and ever since that they have been longer but I've had a couple of treatments in that time too so not sure what it is. I think I ovulate on day 16/17 instead of around 12 now but luteal has stayed about the same. Hope af shows up for you soon.

Trixielilac11 · 09/11/2015 21:48

My LP is 14 days so for a 34 day cycle I'd be ovulating around day 20. Just feels like the extra days are wasted time....over 8 months I end up losing a cycle. Hopefully it's just a one off. If AF turns up before my appointment tomorrow it will be pretty unpleasant.

Bea1985 · 09/11/2015 22:22

Hi ladies, sammylour has invited me over to this thread. It's love,y to meet you all.... My OH have just hit the one year mark and meanwhile my life is totally on hold, it's so nice to come hear and find others who actually understand how I feel!

loopylou1984 · 09/11/2015 22:33

Glad you found us Bea, Xx

Trixielilac11 · 10/11/2015 14:23

Quick update. Temp was high this morning but BFN. Had my hospital appointment and the nurse said everything looks as it should just before AF. DH has to go in next week for his test and then the Drs. appointment is 22 January.

It occurred to me this morning that I have been taking a Zita West pre conception vitamin for the last few months. When we first started TTC I took a pre-conception multi vitamin and tried various supplements. I wonder if there is a link between this and my long cycle. Wondering whether to keep taking them and just put up with slightly longer cycles or to stop taking them.

Welcome Bea! The one year mark is really tough, I didn't handle it well but joining this thread helped. Hopefully it helps you too.

Bea1985 · 10/11/2015 17:56

Thanks guys, I must apologise for my typing as I'm doing this on my iPad and always seem to make loads of typos (esp when tired!). It is very hard, girls at work keep getting pregnant and I feel like my partner and I are running out of time (he's 45 soon to be 46).....We're going our initial consultation very soon so we shall see!

loopylou1984 · 10/11/2015 18:58

Oh Trixie, that might explain it. I've read many times in here about people having longer cycles on conception vits. Good to know things look normal though, what test is your dh having?

Bea - I know how you feel. Everyone I know seems to be pregnant! It's tough though, especially at work. When is your appointment? Is it private or nhs? Sorry if you said on the other thread...

Trixielilac11 · 10/11/2015 20:30

He's just having a Semen analysis Sammy, expect all to be fine as it was before but just have to jump through the hoops.

My best friend (twice) another close friend and DSIL all got pregnant straight after coming off birth control, so infuriating....feels like I'm having to wait ages to average things out.

loopylou1984 · 10/11/2015 21:57

Ah ok, fingers crossed it all goes well for him :). Xx

Trixielilac11 · 11/11/2015 10:00

That's annoying, wrote a post on the way to work and it's disappeared.
Thanks Sammy! Temp is still high today and when I used to temp I'd usually get a drop a day or two before AF...I know I oved cos the nurse could see where I oved from. Must have been pretty late which means we would have completely missed it as I think last time we DTD was CD16.
Anyway, means hysteroscopy will likely have to be postponed to next cycle which is annoying but I don't mind too much as long as we can get the tests done by the end of the year.

loopylou1984 · 11/11/2015 17:58

Did you poas again today Trixie?
Would they have been able to tell on the scan if you were pg?

I don't mean to get your hopes up, just curious! Xx

Trixielilac11 · 11/11/2015 18:14

I haven't Sammy, must admit I did Google to see how early you can tell from a scan. Think its 5-6 weeks. If AF doesn't arrive tomorrow this will be my longest cycle in ages! I guess I would POAS on Friday if no AF but only have a couple of CB digital in the house and would rather see the lack of a second line than 'not pregnant'. I'm pretty certain it's just a long cycle.

Where are you in your cycle btw? You must be getting near ov time.
