We have been so busy chatting I've started a new thread. Welcome all 10+ ladies. Hope we all have some luck on this thread.

Yeah, it was fine before though apparently motility was ever so slightly low and it's a little bit lower now. It was fine for our IVF apparently, however our fertilisation results weren't great so we were going to ask if we could have ICSI anyway. She said if the sample isn't 100% on the day they will do ICSI.

lucieloos · 10/02/2016 12:12

Ahh I see it's the motility that we have issues with as well. It's not drastically bad but a bit lower than it should be. We have always had icsi and always got 100% fertilised so if you have it and that helps your results could be even more amazing this time!

Brilliant news trixie!! That’s so great that you can get so well looked after at the same place. Do you mind if I ask where you are cycling?

April is feeling lucky!!

Trixietwenty16 · 10/02/2016 14:29

I know Lucie, I would like to have it anyway to know that we have given it our best shot, if we were guaranteed the same as last time I wouldn't be so concerned but I worry that if the sample isn't as good (even marginally) we could get lower fertilisation.

We're at Kings College Banana, it's going to be so convenient for me as it's only a 5-10 minute walk from my office!

loopylou1984 · 10/02/2016 15:35

Trixie! That's brilliant news, the NHS is doing a good job fertility wise for once! Xx

MPP81 · 10/02/2016 16:32

Fab news Trixie! Glad it went so well for you Smile

Fruitbatyogi · 11/02/2016 07:23

Hi guys can I join?

Fruitbatyogi

Ttc #2 DD 4 next month (ironically conceived while on the pill)
Now cycle 16
Low amh

Been advised ivf would be our best chance so have nurse booking in and baseline scan in a couple of weeks.

Would be really good to talk to others going through similar stuff.

Trixietwenty16 · 11/02/2016 10:39

Hi Fruitbat, welcome to the thread! There are a few of us getting ready for IVF cycles so you are in the right place.

lucieloos · 11/02/2016 11:22

Hi fruitbat and welcome! Lovely to have you here Smile

Welcome fruitbat Thanks xx

BorisIsBack · 11/02/2016 12:07

Hi ladies, sorry for my science I lost this thread somehow, I've been trying to keep a low profile and keep de stessing. I had a doctors apt this morning to check that I have no infections and get my smear test results. Having the HSG tomorrow. If AF arrives on time I start taking the drugs next Friday, and fly to Czech Republic on about the 1st March for ivf. My fridge is full of drugs and I am doing everything I can to be healthy (running every other day, cut out alcohol and most caffine, taking every suppliment boots sell and a few they don't).

Trixie your update sounds really exciting. Really positive for April. Not long to go now.

Waves to banana, star, mpp and lucie.

Hello to fruit bat, you've found a lovely group of ladies here, so knowledgable about ivf - such a help. Good luck.

BorisIsBack · 11/02/2016 12:16

Science? Silence! damn auto correct

lucieloos · 11/02/2016 12:16

Wow Boris that's not long at all..very exciting! Can't wait for your to get out there. Good luck with the hsg and other tests.

MPP81 · 11/02/2016 12:28

Welcome Fruit bat! I also ironically concieved my first while on the pill, and didn't realise I was pregnant for 3 months but that was 13 years ago. Currently waiting Til after our wedding in a few months to start ivf but as Trixie said, there's quite a few ladies already on the path and they're very knowledgeable and helpful!

That all sounds fab Boris! Won't be long now and everything will be underway!

No AF for me still. Another annoying cycle and I'm kicking myself for not temping now though it didn't help me last month If it doesn't arrive today, it will officially be my longest cycle since we've been ttc and im sorely tempted to poas but since my standard pre-af headaches are here, I think it'll just be a waste.

Trixietwenty16 · 11/02/2016 13:37

Ooh, your cycle has come round nice and quickly Boris! Sounds like you've got everything covered.

How annoying MPP, I had a long cycle this month too, about a million false alarms until finally AF showed up last night.

star1980 · 11/02/2016 14:12

Trixie, delighted your appointment went well and you can get going in a couple of months. Was April the earliest start time or could you have got going with your next cycle? Wonder if you saw the same consultant as me - she suggested proxeed too. It's sooo expensive (£90/mth) and I read elsewhere on mumsnet that it's just vitamins and not worth it. Oh well we've been on it for a month now so we'll see in a couple more months if there's any difference.

Hello fruitbat, you're very welcome but I'm sorry you find yourself here Flowers Sounds like things are all go for you soon. 2016 has been lucky for this thread so far so you've come to the right place!

Banana, how you doing? Any symptoms yet? Did you have another blood test?

Oh Boris, so exciting you start so soon! Good luck with everything in the run up. Well done on staying healthy, really good idea.

Mpp, damn your long cycle. Obviously hoping for you that it doesn't arrive and it's a bfp. But if that's not going to happen, I hope it just gets a move on to put you out of your misery.

I'm kind of wishing I temped this cycle. Officially 1 day late according to apps but since I didn't temp it's just based on my average length of 26 days so really I won't be actually late until Saturday. Obviously daydreaming about testing on Sat morning, but I know it'll turn up just before.

Fruitbatyogi · 11/02/2016 21:57

Hello [waves] to all

thanks for the lovely welcome Flowers

I'm waiting for af here - due some time between Saturday and Tuesday - fertility friend and I don't agree this month...

At least this time I can then get on with the ivf baseline scan, so for once it will help me move on. That's what I'm saying to myself anyway.

MPP81 · 12/02/2016 08:56

Morning all!

Hi Star! Giving up temping it seems is only fun and 'freeing' for the first half of the month. For the second half, it's irritating not being in some kind of control (for me anyway). Def returning to temping and opks this month, plus we have the preseed to try. Fingers crossed for you. Hope you get to test and get a positive result on Saturday!

So, last night, DP got home, we had a chat about how we were going to poas this morning and lo and behold, two hours later AF arrived! Still disappointed obviously, because would have preferred the elusive bfp, but the sting is lessened a tiny tiny bit this month by knowing that, even if we do get a bfp beforehand, we can go on our honeymoon, and we spent last night booking in our excursions (I think this was his way of cheering me up after AF). Anyway... onwards to cycle... 20, I believe.

Trixietwenty16 · 12/02/2016 10:12

Sorry for AF MPP Flowers what a silver lining though!

That's a good way of looking at it Fruitbat.

I'm not sure Star. I think she said that we would be able to start the month after the appointment so if I could get a cancellation appointment with the other consultant (which I am going to try and do) then I guess there would be a chance of starting in March but I am happy to wait until April. I was thinking maybe it was the same Consultant you saw. I had a quick look at the Proxeed, I think we've got most of the various vitamins etc at home anyway. Have you got any pre-AF signs at all?

star1980 · 12/02/2016 12:53

Fingers crossed you get a cancellation Trixie, but as you say April really isn't too far off. How amazing there's an immunes consultant at king's.
No pre-AF symptoms at all today. Had sore boobs for last couple of days but woke up this morning with nothing at all except the constant feeling in my pants (sorry) that AF is in full flow but not here yet. I'm not actually late though, today is CD29 and my cycles are 25 - 28 days this last year. Basically mpp has already spelled out what will happen with me tonight!

Sorry for af mpp, so cruel. But what a silver lining!

Hope the hsg went well Boris!

Ladies with male factor issues, may I ask how bad they actually are? My OH's latest results are count 18 mil/ml; motility 18%, morphology 2% normal. Pretty poor. But then the letter from our consultant appt came through yesterday and said our diagnosis was: 1. Mild male factor, 2. Unexplained.

Feel a bit odd about the unexplained bit as I haven't had my tubes checked and they seemed to just stop investigations once they saw the SA results. Just wondering what numbers others are working with... No need to share if you feel uncomfortable, if you're happy to pm me, please do Smile

lucieloos · 12/02/2016 14:57

Star, that's not too bad, the count should be 20million+ the motility is probably the worst. If that's progressive motility then it should be 32%, overall motility should be 40%+. My dh is similar in that his progressive motility is around 20% but overall motility is fine at 43%. Morphology should be 4% so it falls short in a couple of areas but not terribly bad which is why they've probably called it mild. I think because of your dhs results they've probably determined you will need IVF (with icsi I imagine) so don't see the need to do anymore testing on you as the outcome will be the same.

MPP, sorry to hear af has arrived but planning your honeymoon sounds a lovely way to take your mind off it!

Sammy, hope you are having a lovely holiday.

Hopefull81 · 12/02/2016 15:03

Hi ladies

Would it be ok to join your thread? I am currently in my first cycle of IVF. Today I had my action scan where only 5 folicles were visible. I'm absolutely devastated about this. Retrieval day is Monday morning however I can't help but feel emotional as I know my chances are not good.

Has anyone been in the same situation?? xxx

star1980 · 12/02/2016 17:01

AF has arrived Sad
Definitely expected this but still allowed myself to hope a little.

Thanks Lucie, that's helpful. think you're right - they're recommending ivf w icsi but we're on these proxeed supplements for 4 months before we get going which is feeling like a waste of time right now!

Mpp, I'm going to temp just from day 7 until ovulation so I know when to expect AF. No more of this false hope!

Welcome hopeful, sorry you're feeling down. I haven't done ivf, although a few others on here have and may have some thoughts. All I can say is don't give up hope, you never know and ultimately you only need one egg to stick so 5 might just be enough. What is your story? Flowers

lucieloos · 12/02/2016 17:50

Welcome hopeful, lots of people will say this to you but it quality over quantity. I only ever have 7 or 8 follicles max but I have always managed to get 1-2 blasts per cycle. I have been freezing them and will transfer later but so far I have 4 frozen. I'm sure you will do fine. It only takes one x

OP posts:
MPP81 · 12/02/2016 17:53

Sorry for AF Star Flowers It doesn't matter how much you convince yourself shes coming, it's still impossible to not feel a shred of hope and it's still a horrible feeling when she arrives. I hope you're OK. Yep, I'm going to temp from day 7 too.

Welcome Hopeful. Like star, I've no experience of ivf yet either, but there are a few ladies who do and I'm sure they'll be along soon. I know you said you feel your chances are not good, but any kind of chance is a chance, so try and be positive (even though it's bloody hard!). We are all here to listen and help if we can :)
