Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill

Just wondering if there are any other lurkers in the same boat as me, planning to TTC in December/January?

I came off the pill three months ago and have only had one pathetic AF in that time, so very glad I came off early but also pretty anxious at how messed up things are, 1st cycle was 39 days, this one is 40 and courting.

So who's with me? I can't be the only person on here who is actually hoping for AF!

Hi Yvonne. Sorry about the long wait but it is normal (but crap) I'm afraid. I'm an extreme case but when I stopped pill a few years ago took 10 months to have 1st period. This time took 98 days. Spoke to GP who just said wait! Although I have heard people who've been to GP and been given something to induce bleed after 3 months. I did a preg test every 30 days just to be sure.

Hi cookie. Might have been you're OV. Might not... Which I know is annoying. Sometimes your body can gear up to OV, LH goes up, EWCM eye but then doesn't OV.. All settles and then can OV properly later in cycle. You won't really know without temping, or wait for AF. :( I wasn't sure about temping, but if you are someone (like me) who can press snooze and doze its not too bad. DH gets up before me, I open my eyes long enough to put thermometer under tongue, takes about 30 seconds. I write mine straight down in app and then go back to sleep. Some thermometers have memory so you can write it down later. Cycle say 35! Xx

It sure is crap but it's nice to hear it's normal it's so strange I'd never heard of people have no periods after stopping before but I suppose it's not really something you talk about! I've not told many friends I'm TTC tho as I'm one of the first so that's probably why. Xx

I did a LOT of googling when I 1st stopped the pill. It's called post pill amenorrhea. its by no means everyone, as you can see from this thread some get pregnant 1st cycle off pill, other wait upto a year for periods to return... For most they get pregnant somewhere in between! Fingers crossed it's not a long wait for you. Funnily enough it also took my sister 10 months to have a period after pill.. We are quite alike with most things.. But it does make me think some peoples bodies are just more sensitive to hormones/medication.

We haven't told anyone either. I did tell my sister we had stopped preventing, cod I tell her everything. But she is younger and no where near babies so I don't think she gets it (although she is excited for us) she just thinks chill and it will happen at some point! Which I know but doesn't stop me obsessing! Lol. Half of my friends have had babies in the last year... And all got pregnant by accident or immediately! The other half aren't close to babies. Xx

I think perhaps my body has geared up for ov but have this gut feeling that it hasn't (yet). No EWCM or any CM at all just now. Hopefully it will come later in the cycle! Will def give temping a go. Think I'm just being lazy!! Hope your AF arrive soon Yvonne. I was 37 days, 55 days & now 16 days & counting!! The title of this thread sums me up completely!! Xx

It's crazy when you hear people getting pregnant by accident or after one nights stands and here is us obsessing over temps and CM etc.

I'm sure being relaxed does help its just not that easy to is it! Xx

I think my body tried earlier in my cycle this month cookie. Have a look at my chart. I had days and days of EWCM earlier in cycle (more than I did when I OV'd). I'm hoping this temp rise is going to turn into proof of OV.. But I'm pretty sure I did. Pos OPK and nipples sore since. X

I had the same thing cookie, had such a long cycle last time so wasn't expecting to Ov around day 16 when I got my peak reading. On CD27 now, expecting AF from any time CD33 onwards. Haven't OPK's since as you can't on CB digital after your peak, need to get some cheapo's to use too.
Where do you guys get your OPK's from?
Sunny thanks for the helpful info on Ov and temping, I might order a therm and start that too to be sure if I have or not. I also had a query re DH getting up earlier than me but sounds like I should temp then when I stir as he says bye.

Hi Everyone..... Glad I'm not the only person playing this horrible waiting game!!
I stopped taking the pill back in May. Had usual withdrawal AF and then nothing until 25th Oct!
Went to the docs during that wait, had a blood test & was told everything was fine and to just wait it out.
I'm not sure if I have ovulated, was planning on waiting until next AF (hoping I wouldn't be waiting as long as last time!) and then start tracking! I'm trying to kid myself that I'm relaxed about it!!

I think I may stop taking the Agnus Castus incase I did get my peak Sunday night, I know you aren't meant to take it after ov. If I have ov'd the Agnus has definitely helped to shorten my cycles! Sunny I'm going to try the temping for sure next month (if no success this cycle), I think it sounds the most reliable way to identify ov for certain! Fingers crossed for you!!
New girl, I get my OPKs just off amazon. I was mean to be taking the 'laid back' approach to TTC this month so will be investing in some CB ones next cycle.

Welcome, Vicky! The wait for AF has definitely been the hardest part so far for me. I just had so many questions going through my head during my v long cycle- am I normal? Do I have PCOS? Google did not help!! Hoping you have a shorter cycle this month xx

Welcome Vicky. Sorry you are playing the waiting game too but you are in the right place!

I think the Angus castus might have worked to shorten 1st cycle. But I only took it for about two weeks at the beginning of this cycle (got thrush for the 2nd time, which apparently Agnus can do) so not sure if it helped or not. Definitely got more CM on Agnus! Going to try without it next cycle.

My temp was similar again today... Slightly higher than pre OV but not much! I want fertility friend to draw me a cover line and pinpoint OV day... I think it's waiting for one more high temp tomorrow!! It's like waiting for Xmas this 2 week wait malarkey! X

Also cookie., if you look at my chart in the middle where I had 1st patch of ewcm, and temp tried to go up, also had OV pains (but not as bad as when really did OV)... Think my body tried to OV but didn't. Then did later in cycle. Xx

Do you think temp charting is the best way to keep track of what's going on?
I am currently using the Ovia app, but there isn't a great deal of information for me to enter because there isn't much going on!

I use the CM method as I work shifts so can use temp as you have to do it at the same time each day when you wake up x

I'm sure I ovulated last month but not really sure what's going on x

I'm def going to start temping too. Totally agree the wait is torturous and plays tricks on you, I'm so hyper conscious/ sensitive on my symptom spotting!! Currently convincing myself that I may be pregnant as I'm having more school glue CM than normal, although I've only ever bothered to track EWCM before so may well not be more than normal!! Yet again, I'm sure it's because I'm paranoid about falling this month when we weren't 'trying'!!
Thanks for the tip on OPK's cookie, the CB ones could become an expensive habit!
Welcome Vicky! Ovia is great to get you started but definitely track CM and other symptoms, and/or OPK's or temping to be accurate. You can track all of this in Ovia.

Thanks NewGirl. I'm going to start temp tracking I think. From doing some online reading I think this will be the most accurate and I can't get too much wrong with it!
Currently I'm on day 31, def no baby symptoms no matter how hard I look!!
I'm not sure when to expect AF though. from having a withdrawal after stopping the pill I got up to 153 days before last AF.
Stupidly I didn't do too much research before we started TTC. If I knew then what I know know I would have stopped taking the pill way before! I thought this would be the easy bit!

Thanks Sunny, your chart is really helpful to see. I actually think I have fell into a similar cycle pattern as you. Even though I got quite dark OPKs on Sunday, I really don't think I ov'd. No pains, no CM & no other indication of ov! Maybe it was my body gearing up but nothing has happened. I hate all the uncertainty xx

It's so annoying isn't it sunny. I was thinking earlier, the worst bit is just the lack of control! With everything else in our lives we can plan, make decisions etc. ie if we want a promotion we work hard, we want to buy something, we save up. We want a baby.... And it's pot luck!!

I'm still not 100%convinced I OV'd.. Despite OPK and some cracking OV pain.. I was just so convinced I wasn't ovulating. And also my temp rise is really minimal when I look at other peoples charts. But will just have to wait and see! Also didn't really dtd much in fertile days.. Depends when it puts my OV at. Xx

For all those tracking with temps and apps , must b exciting seeing what's going on as it helps u feel like u have some control over what's happening after stopping the wretched pill! Sunny good chart! Do u find its helping ?
Really is crap that the doctors expect u to try a year before they offer any help ! A year is like a century while TTC bcoz it's all we think about X

My sickness set in tonight after a steak pie that I shouldn't have attempted , been sick now in bed with watery mouth and sweats I'm never ill so struggling with this tonight even tho I know it's just p symptoms x

Got up this morning and she is here, Aunt Flo has come for a visit. Was going to test to double check at the weekend so glad i didnt waste it! Cramping like crazy but feeling ok. Hopefully this means my cycles will be back to normal soon as its almost 1 month to the day since my withdrawal bleed.xx

Aww get well soon GX! Oh I know Sunny, it's totally out of our control and I'm usually OCD about organisation, timings and planning! What does your ov pain feel like? I don't think I've ever had any ov pain! Nothing that I'd be able to clearly pin point anyways! Horrendous cramps before AF to make up for it tho!! Xx

Cookie, don't think iv every had OV pain before either (that iv noticed). Since stopping pill iv regularly had pelvic pain (again made me worry about pcos! Lol) but this was different, not like period cramps at all. A very definite sustained sharp pain in right side, just inside hip. Bad enough to get a hot water bottle on it. xx

Lets see if it stays that way! Hopefully it will stay regular and not turn out to be AF now and then nothing for 50 days like some have had! I was very regular before from what i remember so i'm hopeful!xx

Oww! My nipples hurt since OV!

Did this last month last 2 weeks before AF so guess I did OV last month eventually. It disappeared just before AF last month so will be interesting to see what it does this month. X
