Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill

Just wondering if there are any other lurkers in the same boat as me, planning to TTC in December/January?

I came off the pill three months ago and have only had one pathetic AF in that time, so very glad I came off early but also pretty anxious at how messed up things are, 1st cycle was 39 days, this one is 40 and courting.

So who's with me? I can't be the only person on here who is actually hoping for AF!

Hi bobo. My periods stopped too whilst I was on cerazette Smile. I have been doing a couple of CB ovulation tests but all negative so far. Saying that, a couple of weeks ago I did have EWCM and some ovary pain but I didn't do a test. Just DTD as much as I could. Going to do a pg this weekend if still no AF. I have never wanted a period so much lol.

I have no idea about when u should DTD when u get a positive opk. I am glad you have finally ovulated though. Just gotta be so patient I guess! If I were u I would just DTD as much as possible. I think you have like a 6 day fertile window to do it in so I am sure you have done more than enough Smile xx

Sunnydays321 and Loulabelle1990 I'm not sure what day of my cycle I'm on...I took my last pill Dec 13th and had a withdrawal bleed a few days later. I've had nothing since then and really don't even feel like I'm going to get my period any time soon! I took a pregnancy test on Saturday to be sure I wasn't pregnant and it was negative so now I'm just feeling frustrated and hoping my period will get a move on!

BoBo90 · 19/01/2016 18:14

They are good signs Loula fx you ovulated and caught it then! That would be a nice surprise if you are waiting for af and get a bfp instead! Let us know how you get on Smile

Hopefully we did it enough, poor DH has Asthma and is not used to all the exercise haha

When you don't have a clue what your body is doing and you don't know whether to expect ovulation or af it's super frustrating and a never ending waiting game! At least with the tww you know there is a time limit to the suspense! fx everyone's cycles return to normal soon! xx

Sunnydays321 · 19/01/2016 19:11

loula i think I'm right in saying it's possible to have a period without ovulating (anovulatory cycle), but if you do ovulate you always have a period after (if that makes sense) so I assume I might have ovulated in that 3 month cycle but don't know for sure as wasn't temping/doing opks. The bloods the GPs can do to check ovulating are very specific and need to be done 7days after you have ovulated ... Which would be impossible to Time if you haven't had a period. If you have them done randomly they won't tell you anything. They will sometimes give you something to bring on a bleed but most GPs want you to wait 6 month to do this to give your body a hance to regulate itself. Bringing on a period won't actually help your body get its self back into cycles (just initiates a bleed a bit like taking the combined pill and then stopping would). I know it's hugely hugely frustrating, especially when Ttc! Believe me 10 months is a Loooooonnng time! :)

chapman my thermometer beeps too, really annoying when I'm trying not to wake dh!

alice sounds like you re day 30-35 ish? You count from 1st day of last period. Hopefully something happens soon.

Welcome bobo good to have you along for the Ttc ride.

X

Loulabelle1990 · 19/01/2016 19:31

I am hoping I did ovulate bobo! I didnt want to do an ovulation test in case I wasn't and I would have been disappointed (sad I know!). I haven't had any signs of pregnancy so I doubt I am pregnant but worth testing I guess. If would be amazing if I was!

The tww is horrible, hope you husband is okay!

That's interesting to know sunny. I didn't realise that about not ovulating and still getting a period. I can imagine, I really do hope I am not waiting 10 months. I guess there is no point going doctors then until my cycle just randomly comes back to normal.

Do you find temping helpful?! I have never tried it...

Sunnydays321 · 19/01/2016 20:23

Loula. Sorry I'm not saying don't go to gp, if it will reassure you. Just wanted to share my experience at doctors. If you do go let me know what they say, some GPs probably say different things. Smile I devotedly find it interesting temping, and it has confirmed that I'm ovulating (even if it is very late in cycle!) and helped me identify I only have fairy short 9 or 10 day luteal phase (the part of the cycle between ovulation and your next period.. Most people's are 14 days). It probably does make me a little more obsessive, but it is helpful. Il probably stop when I know for sure I'm ovulating regularly as it can't actually help you conceive as it only identifies you've ovulated after the event because you need to wait for three consistent height temps to confirm. Xx

Cookie22 · 19/01/2016 20:50

Wow, busy in here tonight! Hope we're all well. Thanks for the temping advice ladies. Will definitely try and keep it up! I don't usually get up for work until about half 6 and DH gets up at 5. Maybe I'll get the hang of the thermometer soon and be able to get back to sleep for a while! Could I even wait until closer to ov time before I consistently temp or would it be better to start just now? You will be fed up of all my questions soon enough, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to understanding temperature charts, dips, rises etc Grin xx

Loulabelle1990 · 19/01/2016 21:09

Yeah I guess all GP's are different. I might give it a go, see how it goes and see what he has to say. I will probably just be told it's normal and just to wait it out.

I had never thought of temping, didn't even know you could do it to check fertility. It's all so confusing! Do you think it's worth me giving it a go not knowing when I am fertile at all?

We aren't absolutely desperate to conceive, we want a baby but I don't want to make it into a big thing, it'll happen when it happens sort of thing! We are getting married in April too would be a nice way to start our new lives together! xxx

NewGirl2015 · 19/01/2016 21:31

Cookie if you are due to Ov next week then I would start this week (even if a bit sporadically) so that you get a baseline to work from when you are looking out for your temp shift. now that you've got the Kindara app have a read in the knowledge base there is LOADS of helpful stuff on there about temping, how to do it and what you are looking for. What's your name on there - we can follow one another's charts? Mine is the same as on here X

Cookie22 · 19/01/2016 21:42

Thanks for your help new girl! I've just created a profile (same name as on here!). I've no idea how to do the following but you can follow me if you can find me! Not due to ov until maybe another 2 weeks as I seem to ov late on in my cycle. Hopefully the b6 will bring it forward tho! How are you doing? Any symptoms yet? Xx

NewGirl2015 · 19/01/2016 21:56

You're welcome!! I'm sure you'll get to grips with it but shout if you've any questions as I think I've read every single article on the knowledge base now Grin.
I'm confused I think I might have had a bit of a phantom Ov on Sunday, got a faint positive OPK again today, a tiny bit more EWCM and more consistent Ov pains. So going to DTD tonight but worried I've missed 2 days of my window now Sad.

Chapman, first, how are you doing today?*

Welcome to our newbies xx

marthiemoo · 19/01/2016 21:57

Hi everyone,
Joined mumsnet today specifically to ask about this! It's been so reassuring to read all your posts. I was on combined pill for 13 years (from 16 to 29) and then cerazette for a year. Came off pill because TTC at beginning of August and no period yet (not even usual withdrawal bleed). GP won't test for anything until it's been 6 months, which it will be at beginning of Feb. So frustrating to have to just wait with no control over it!

firstgo1984 · 19/01/2016 22:00

newgirl I'm ok today. Had a day feeling a bit more relaxed about things. I'll be back to stressing tomorroe I am sure!

Yvonne1986 · 19/01/2016 22:12

Welcome to all the newbies I know it it so stressful waiting for that first bleed since stopping the pill hopefully this thread will help reassure you it is common, it made me feel loads better speaking to people in a similar positing.

I'm now CD13 no signs of OV and not really expecting any for another week or two as my cycles have been so long.

Good luck everyone FX for BFPs soon x

cnchapmanxx · 19/01/2016 22:36

New girl - I'm good thanks Hun. I tested on opk today and it was negative gonna start temping as of tomorrow but the fkin thing is noisy and beeps so don't wanna wake dh mind you he's always up before me haha.
Yvonne - fx for your ov soon Hun. Really wish the pill didn't mess up our bodies as much as it has! It's a night mate!
First - how are you? Any signs of any movement?
Cookie - how is the boring stage going lovely I'm gearing up for another ov period that I feel I'm gonna miss! Temping starts tomorrow!

Welcome to the new girls - bobo, Alice, loulou, Marthie! This thread is lovely nice bunch of girls on here! We are all in the same boat so hoping for some more bfp! We are low on the success rate here!!

Can I just ask what the short luteal phase is? I'm thinking that's what is happening with me or I'm ov a lot quicker than I'm expecting too and my app is shite xxxx

Loulabelle1990 · 19/01/2016 22:42

It is really nice to have this thread to speak with other people in the same position. Helps make us all realise we aren't alone.

Marthie wow 6 months and still nothing? I wonder what the doc will do. And here's me moaning about 6 weeks haha!

Did you have normal cycles before starting the pill?

Hope you ov soon chapman and your cycle isn't too long!

marthiemoo · 19/01/2016 22:48

Loulabelle to be honest I can't remember what my cycle was like, I only had 2 years (age 14-16) before I went on the pill. I remember it being horrendously painful but not much else. Somewhere I've got my teenage diary from that time (think it was a Bridget Jones one!) so I should have a look back and see.

NewGirl2015 · 19/01/2016 23:21

Chapman I've been doing LOADS of reading on sort lutenal phase the past few days, this is the basics of what I've learnt!
Lutenal phase is the part of your cycle between ovulation and your period (of hopefully BFP!). It should be 12-14 days, it's where the progesterone builds up and hopefully implantation takes places. If it's too short then you can start shedding the uterus lining (get your period) before the fertilised egg has had a chance to implant. It's said that anything less than 10 days is considered too short to achieve pregnancy, although quite a few sites I've read on say less than 12 isn't ideal - mine has been 11 days for the past few cycles.
I've literally just started taking 50mg vitamin b6 today to help with a short lutenal phase. Quite a few people have success in lengthening it with b6 and/or Angus cactus, I'm trying the b6 as I said so will see if it makes a difference!

shankate182 · 19/01/2016 23:56

Hey all how's everyone doing?
Welcome to all the newbies it's great the way we can all share our story's without feeling embarrassed :)
CD20 and nothing only loads of CM all day and kept getting the urge to go to the toilet also really bad headaches? Due my AF next Wednesday of not will leave for a few weeks testing the end of February if AF doesn't make an appearance :) pray to God that one of us get BFP soon as it's been a while :) xx

Loulabelle1990 · 20/01/2016 07:38

Newgirl that's really interesting to know about the shedding of the uterus too early. It's amazing how the body works!

Marthie I was on the pill from 18 - 25 and I am pretty sure I had a regular cycle then. I only went on the pill because I got with my boyfriend!

Shank I hope we get a BFP on here too!

cnchapmanxx · 20/01/2016 08:04

That's very interesting new girl thanks for sharing that! Your a book full of knowledge 😊 Hoping I manage to catch my ov this month as I think in december I was too late. Pretty sure I ov'd around Xmas day/Boxing Day and I was to busy and plus at my mams to be able to do anything. we just decided to dtd as much as we can over the next 2 week and hope for the best!

Thanks loula me too I'm defo sure I keep missing it as not dtd enough! Haha! Hope you have some sort of AF or BFP to put your mind at ease xx

firstgo1984 · 20/01/2016 08:34

CD27 and my CM is not indicating ov is close! I will keep doing opks just in case. Don't want to miss it.

NewGirl2015 · 20/01/2016 21:21

Hi all how is everyone today?

You're welcome re the lutenal phase info, I just happened to be researching it myself, so happy to share!

CD25, temp spiked again today so hopefully it stays up and confirms I've ov'd. I am confused that it shot up on Monday, and then went back down again on Tuesday. Really though I'd ov'd over the weekend, but pains yesterday and my temp today suggests it was yesterday. If that's the case we've only DTD day of, and 3 days before Ov Confused. Everything else before that was a waste of time!! Got everything crossed anyway, wish I could jump forward 2 weeks. Trying to be positive but can't help feeling my body is playing tricks on me Envy.

firstgo1984 · 21/01/2016 08:41

Opk looks almost positive this am. No ewcm though. I sometimes.get these quite dark ones with fmu. I know the cheap opks say to test a bit later in the day. Is that bwcause of false highs or lows?

Yvonne1986 · 21/01/2016 09:43

That's exciting Firstgo fx you get a positive later I'm sure they say not to test first thing as your more likely to get a false positive as there isn't enough of the hormone to pick up on! Let us know how you get on xx
