So, after 9 years together me and dh have decided to start trying. Last AF ended 29th June, I should be ovulating any day now. Very new to all this ttc malarkey so no idea what we're doing really!

I'm already making myself worry about a BFN in a couple of weeks. Didn't think I was that broody but it's all I can think about! Anybody else feeling/felt the same??

Xx

Inwaiting - sorry to hear about BFN but like you say there is always next month.

Pickle, I'm on decaf tea and coffee cut out alcohol almost completely but I don't drink much anyways. Also been taking vitams including folic acid

Afternoon all. Same predicament as a couple of you. DH, now that he understands a bit more, wanted to do a POAS last night so I did and BFN. However like Inwaiting... No idea when I would POAS.

Agree with you too - I've cut out booze however I am compensating with sugar (also using the 'I've just got married' excuse as well)

Hi all! Mind if I join in?

OH and I are ttc #1 - I'm 35 and we've been together for 17 years altogether.

I came off the PO pill about 5/6 weeks ago after 10 years. I'm tracking/temping/weighing etc every day. OH is fully on board - ttc was his idea actually!

Have had a no-bleed period (I think) and my app is telling me I'm in a fertile window. I think OH is struggling to DTD every day for 5 or 6 days (we're usually a 2 or 3 times a week couple)....I think he's under way more pressure than me cos I can just lie back, IYSWIM....

I am pretty fit/sporty anyway, so I've not had to change my habits much. I don't drink either, so haven't had to explain myself to anyone!

Hoping for a BFP before Xmas, as I'm so impatient!

custarddots · 22/07/2015 19:55

Hey Mermaid... Welcome Smile
Sounds like our fellas need their own group to egg each other on to DTD every day. My DH days that he can feel when's he's stocked up and therefore better able to do it.

Let's all make a target of a BFP before Xmas Shock

Welcome mermaid! Lots of BFPs before Xmas sound great!

So.....I have had sore breasts for 2/3 days now so I'm expecting AF any minute as I normally get this a day or two beforehand then it stops as soon as AF arrives.

Still holding out hope it could be early symptoms but it might just be me crazy symptom spotting! We shall see.......

Morning all. The train is bloody freezing this morning so I'm messaging to keep warm.

If you don't mind, can we share our ages? Just to help put perspective on things?

I'm 28 and DH is 33.

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 08:52

Hi custard, hope you've warmed up! I'm 27 DH is 30 :-)

Can I join you guys too?

DH and I have been married almost 2 years, and I recently shared with him that I was seriously stressing out about turning 35 in February and I really wanted to be pregnant by then. He had quite a think about it, raised a few issues which we sorted through so are ttc this cycle (day 8 just now).

Before we ttc, I had really wasn't that interested in dtd, which was one of the things we talked through. Having told me he was pretty much always in the mood, I suggested it last night and he wasn't interested. I don't want him to think I only want to dtd to get my BFP, I just think that actually working towards something has made me relaxed, happier and so more in the mood!

I have ttc before, about 8 years ago and know how awful I am, have ordered my tests from ebay already (stupidly didn't change my delivery address from my office, so diving to get the post every morning!)

I also know it is highly unlikely that it will happen this month, last time it was 3 months before my 1st bfp, then about 8 months before then next one (1 MC and 1 ectopic). I was 26 back then, but partner was in his 30's and a smoker so hoping that was part of the reason

So, right now I am 34 and DH is 26, hoping those young swimmers will get the job done Smile

Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 09:47

I'm 35 and hubby is 36 (almost 37)..... we're very late to the baby table I think, as we have been together 17 years, but "the chat" never happened until this year.... (due to jobs, money, family etc).

He is way broodier than me, but I do have a very laissez-faire attitude to most things, whilst he is the planner/analytical one.

Almost all my friends have children (though most haven't been married as long) so we are nearly the last ones! I do have a friend who is 39 (with a 40yr old OH) that has just got pregnant within 2 months of ttc, so I'm hopeful!!

alwaysinapickle · 23/07/2015 10:58

Morning all
I'm 32.
Had a bit of spotting this morning which is usually a sign that AF is on it's way so am feeling a little deflated today. Shall remain positive though and buy some OPK's for next month rather than rely on two unreliable apps which gave different fertile windows.
Am not going to think about TTC to conceive now (yeah right) until CD8 when I'll start SMEP plan.
Is anyone testing soon?

alwaysinapickle · 23/07/2015 11:12

Forgot to say that DH is 37.

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 11:25

Hi pickle,

I have no idea really when I should poas as so irregular recently! Might test at the weekend but I think AF is on its way.....apps are definitely not reliable, I learnt that this cycle!

OP posts:
Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 12:08

Out of interest, which apps are we all using?

I've got Ovia - 2 friends recently got BFP's using it, so that's why I went with it

alwaysinapickle · 23/07/2015 12:27

I've been using Ovia for the first time this month but have been tracking from the beginning of the year with My Days. I'll see how I get on with using opk's. The idea of holding for 4 hours scares me! I go all the time! I've read elsewhere that FMU is no good for OPK's. Does anyone have experience of this?
(slow day at the office)

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 12:32

I've just started using ovia now can't remember the name of the other one but it wasn't great! I like that ovia uses your symptoms and gives you tips. I think my cycle irregulrity makes it hard for any app to work things out for me at the moment lol.

I was annoyed with ovia this month as it shifted my ovulation dates twice but I guess that's actually a good thing if it's right!

lilygirl81 · 23/07/2015 15:11

Does anyone have any suggestions? Suggested we dtd last night, got told he wasn't in the mood. Today I have had messages from him saying he feels a bit rubbish, so doubt I can interest him tonight. We are going to my parents for the weekend, so dtd not going to happen until Sunday at the earliest, which will be cd10. I am trying to show a relaxed approach so that he doesn't feel that it becomes clinical, but I'm getting so stressed out by this.
Any ideas how I might manage to shift his mood without him feeling obligated?

Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 16:45

I've been dead upfront with DH - I've told him that every month I'll have a 5/6 day window to concieve in, and he needs to be ready to go every night (or in the mornings!) whenever that window is. I don't care if that knackers him out for the rest of the month, and we don't DTD for 3 weeks....

When he whinged at me, I reminded him that it was essentially his idea to have children, and this was really the only bit that was down to him (i.e. I have to be pregnant and go through labour). If he couldn't be bothered to DTD for 5/6 nights a week, then there was no point in TTC.

custarddots · 23/07/2015 17:23

Train time!

We've been busy today... Haven't we?

Firstly hi to Lily. It's always nice to meet new people.

And thanks for revealing your ages - I look forward to to being inspired by stories of you lot getting BFPs in your thirties as I want a few kids and can't cram them all in to the next 24 months Wink

Lily- I know exactly what to mean about motivating the OH. Mine has body confidence issues so I have been upping the confidence boosts to encourage him. As mermaid said really well, being upfront is one thing and mermaid thank you... I am so going to highlight the 6 days v 9 months imbalance tonight!!!
The other thing which I find has worked although it feels a bit crude... Is when I'm suggesting that we DTD, depending on his mood, I will sometimes just joke I want the express version, I.e make your deposit and then that's it..I.e don't worry about me and all that show.
It helps when we are both tired but prevents me from getting paranoid that we are not trying hard enough. Like I said, a bit crude and I know that some people would disagree as it's taking the fun out. I sometimes just prefer my sleep :)

iamabear · 23/07/2015 18:08

Hi, you seem like a nice bunch, can I join in?

My husband and I are both 31, and this is my first month off the pill. At the same time I also decided to come off my anti-anxiety meds in preparation so I'm getting a tidal wave of new hormones!

I've been on the pill since I was 16, with only a 3 year break, and although it's only our first month TTC I have started charting my temperature as I've always had a concern about what's going on down there. This is because I've always had really irregular, painful and heavy periods (when not on the pill) and if we do have trouble TTC I want to be able to go to the doctor sooner rather than later with evidence!

I've been using fertility friend to record my temperature and other signs - my temperature profile doesn't seem as clear cut as others', but I think I ovulated on day 26 as I did get a slight temp rise and had the EWCM and really sore boobs. So that puts me on day 32 now so at least I know when to expect AF which I wouldn't have been able to do if I wasn't tracking when I ovulated.

Pickle, when we first made the decision to TTC I cut out the alcohol and caffeine and had every intention of my body being a temple Grin but as soon as I started reading forums like this and I realised how long it might take I soon changed my mind! Will be carrying on as normal (which isn't much anyway) until a BFP.

I agree that reading up on all this makes getting pregnant from a one night stand seem as likely as winning the lottery!

Custarddots, it's been an education for my DH too, I think he thought it would take one shot at a random time in the month and job done. Definitely not so simple! Tracking has helped narrow down a fertile window so we can focus our efforts Grin. It's funny, I'd always thought that we didn't dtd as much as DH wanted, but now that I'm offering it more regularly it seems he doesn't want it as much as he thought he did lol!

It's lovely that you've all been so open with your experiences so far and I look forward to the updates [smiles]. Good luck to everyone!

Inwaiting · 23/07/2015 19:20

Hi lovely ladies - still no sign of AF but i've been eating and craving everything on sight which is usually a good indicator its going to come.

I'm 27 and my husband is 31. I've bought some ovulation trackers for next month as I'm not sure how accurate the apps are xxx

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 19:34

Inwaiting I get the same....I'm literally in the fridge and cupboards constantly during the couple of days before which is how I've been the last day or so.....

What ovulation trackers do you have?

OP posts:
Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 19:43

custard me too! This could be TMI but I've offered DH several positions that I don't particularly like, but that make him 'go' faster, IYSWIM! Actually having sex to conceive sort of takes the romance out of it, doesn’t it!

custarddots · 23/07/2015 20:14

Hello bear!! Welcome to the party.

E11... Yeh I am with you... my cupboard doors and going to fall off their hinges :(

Inwaiting - FXd!!

And mermaid... Haha Wink

Okay, for anyone who is around tonight, confession time. What did you last snack on (obviously cravings snacking- not guilty snaking?)
I will confess to sticking my hand in the cereal jar and stealing all the raisins!!
