Hello ladies.. Would I be able to join you? This group seems to suit me down to the ground and you all seem rather lovely Smile

Been TTC for 2.5 years for baby number 1. PCOS. No AF naturally in like three years. 32 years old. Had three rounds of clomid- nothing. Had ovarian drilling- nada. So now just starting short protocol on the good old NHS..
Very worried about OHSS, amongst a million other things! Hope can share tips and stories with you all. We haven't told anyone we are TTC (other than my mum!) as can't deal with the questions..
Anyway hope I'm okay to share the experience with you all Smile

bananafish81 · 13/08/2015 15:04

Ponty Zazzles stealth gin Dollface Freddiesmother thank you so much, you’re all a fabulous bunch (no banana related pun intended!)

I just feel like the rug has been pulled out from under my feet. I had one fertility issue that I knew about, then that seems to have gone, along with all my eggs?!!!

Anyway, treatment focus has changed, my odds aren’t good with seemingly v v diminished reserves - my fertility has declined by 93% in 5 years, according to my bloods.

But heading into the first cycle, and hoping that my age means quality will help despite reduced quantity.

Now I’m not presenting as a PCOS high-responder or TTC naturally, I’ve swapped the inositol and soy for DHEA and melatonin. So if anyone does want my 6-month supply of Inofolic free of charge then let me know, cos I ain’t gonna use it anymore Smile

Newby hi, welcome - I’m about to start on the short protocol too. It seems weirdly good for both low responders and PCOS women at risk of OHSS. So sounds like you’ve got the best possible plan of action to mitigate against OHSS. Keeping my fx for you

I’m going to be on Gonal-F and Cetrotide, just doing all our HFEA forms now. About as much paperwork involved as for buying a home - but trying to make a human is somewhat more of a serious undertaking!

PontyGirl · 13/08/2015 19:57

Luna wait - my brain is having a moment - remind me, do you mean pregnancy test Grin if so, mega congrats!! Thanks

for those of you on metformin is this something my GP can prescribe or do I have to be referred to a fertility clinic first?

chandelierswinger · 13/08/2015 20:03

ponty my GP prescribed the met for me.

My dear, dear banana Flowers I must say, you are taking this all amazingly well given the shock of your recent tests/scans and how far removed your most recent diagnosis is from your original one. Wishing you the very best of luck as you embark on your treatment Star

chandelierswinger · 13/08/2015 20:05

Gin Fx for your soy doing its job! Have you noticed anything?

Thank you for your kind thoughts. This wait is more torturous than the 2ww...

Newby32 · 13/08/2015 21:46

Thanks banana, you will have to keep me posted with how you find it and I'm wishing you all the luck!

ponty the fertility clinic prescribes my metformin- 3 a day until I'm three months pregnant apparently!

Freddiesmother · 13/08/2015 22:30

Welcome newby. This group is so great I don't know where I would be without it. I am sure u will find it v supportive.

I am having a mare of a week this week I feel so low on the clomid it makes me feel like all the colour has drained out of the world and i just want to sleep! So unlike me I am a total sloth with no enthusiasm for anything at all.... Taken the last lot last night so should cheer up soon but my god it's a horrible feeling.

stealthbanana · 13/08/2015 23:03

Ponty my gynae prescribed metformin but I didn't go via a gp- my insurance allows me to self refer so I did that

Word of warning - metformin and alcohol don't mix. I had a night out with old friends tonight - drank 2 pints of cider over 5 hours - I am leaking from both ends now Sad It will be a long night; won't be doing that again!

Ginfizz90 · 13/08/2015 23:32

Hi everyone had a some ewcm cd8 surely too early. Must be from all this soy!

RoseBud2015 · 14/08/2015 09:56

Newby Welcome! I have added you to the stats list!

Stealth You're off on your holidays today aren't you? Enjoy!

Ponty Yay for a shorter cycle! Smile Did you do something different to cause the change?

Chandelier I'm sorry that you are still in limbo and things are so up in the air for you. Flowers I really hope this works out! What is the next step?

Freddie Sorry to hear the 150mg is making you feel like that. On the positive side at least it seems to be having an affect on your hormones which is defo a good sign! Smile

Isit Vixx How are you both getting on with your increased doses of clomid? Thinking of you both!

AF arrived for me yesterday after taking Provera for 5 days. So I'm CD2 today and will start my first cycle of 150mg clomid tonight. Excited and nervous because if this doesn't work, the NHS cannot do anything else for us!

So because I am a control freak like to have a plan B, DH and I are now seriously looking at our next step and IVF abroad. Having done a lot of research I have fallen for Reprofit in Czech Republic- success rates and feedback looks great and the price is fantastic. So at least now we have a Plan B! Newby When are you due to start IVF?

Hi ladies, I've been reading this thread for a while and wondered if I'd be able to join? I'm 28, have PCOS, and have been ttc 1 for 2.5 -3 years. My last cycle was 48 days and I'm currently on cd10. Just for a bit of background, we tried to conceive for almost 2 years before going to get tests (something I now regret waiting for). Have had many bloods, HSG and husband had semen test, which was ok. It appears I'm not ovulating as suggested by bloods. I've been put on Dianette after ttc for 2 years to try to regulate my hormones and cycles, and also Metformin. I came off the Dianette pill in April and it took 50 days for me to get my first natural period after the withdrawal bleed. My second cycle was 48 days so I'm hoping it's going in the right direction. I've never had a positive pregnancy test and as I know bbt charting isn't always accurate for PCOS sufferers, I hadn't tried it but I'm getting more desperate so I've been charting for the 10 days of this cycle so far in the hope of finding some evidence or suggestion of ovulation! Should say too my next fertility appointment is November where hopefully I'll be trying Clomid if I can get my BMI under 30. Lost nearly a stone so far in the last few weeks so I'm hoping everything will pay off :) Sorry for the massive post, my close friends and a few family know of our struggles but nobody has had problems falling pregnant so I've got to the stage where I really need to speak to people who are in the same boat x

RoseBud2015 · 14/08/2015 12:06

Welcome Mrs! I've added you to our stats Smile What dose of metformin are you on- 1500mg?

Well done on the weight loss- that is amazing! Some of us are skinny PCOS and some of us are trying to lose weight, so you will be in good company! How much more weight do you think you need to lose to get to under 30 BMI?

Freddiesmother · 14/08/2015 12:54

Oh fingers crossed for you rosebud. We are not that far apart cycle wise. I have just finished my clomid and scan a week today so let's keep in touch. I have massively cut back on caffeine and totally quit booze (not that I ever drank much) which I am hoping will help a bit. Got my fist acupuncture session on Sunday so will let u know how that is.

VixxFace · 14/08/2015 13:32

Rosebud good luck with your clomid and let us know how it goes with side effects.

100 didn't work for me at all so having an ivf appointment in September. I have clomid tablets at home so going to take 150 as soon as af shows her face!

ZazzlesTheCat · 14/08/2015 15:01

Rosebud thanks for adding me to the stats sheet! I like how organised you are! Your plan B option sounds great too, I've heard about that company via another thread that was on here a little while ago (isn't there a couple of places abroad that also have offices in the UK so you can have some treatment here too as part of the deal?? - might have made that up!)
More details about me for the stats log -I'm 31, and will be taking soy at 70mg from CD 3-7 (starting from tonight!) and I'm also taking pregnacare vitamins.

Welcome newby and mrsc! Well done on weight loss, and good news on the signs of ovulation! Have you considered soya yet Mrs C?

MrsC2013 · 14/08/2015 16:14

Thanks rosebud and zazzles :) I was on 500g Metformin a day for a few months but was taken off it as it didn't seem to have an effect. I still have 3 stone to go to get my BMI to where it needs to be but I'm confident I can do it as it's the next step to help me become a mum.

I haven't tried soy yet, perhaps it might be something else to consider, but I have been taking Vitex/ Agnus Castus for the past 7 weeks to try to shorten my cycle and encourage my hormones to straighten out to hopefully help me ovulate. Last cycle I did get ewcm which I don't always so I'm thinking it had a positive effect. Not sure if I ovulated though, hence trying the charting this cycle.

PontyGirl · 14/08/2015 16:23

rosebud weight loss has made all the difference to my cycle lengths so far - it's the only thing ive been consistent with.

those taking soy okay im really interested in this but when I googled, it comes up with risk of cancer etc. What are your thoughts on this? I want to get on board but I have reservations

ZazzlesTheCat · 14/08/2015 17:39

MrsC definitely keep doing what you're doing then if you think it's working. I read somewhere that you can't take Angus & soya together anyway as they sort of cancel each other out..

Ponty I've not heard of the cancer link with soya before. The box I got was from Boots, it's designed for menopausal women really so I'm not sure they've be able to sell it without warnings about side affects if it's been proven. I think I'm more likely to get ill off all the diet coke I drink personally! I'm more worried about it messing up my normal ish cycles - fingers crossed it won't!

bananafish81 · 14/08/2015 17:41

rosebud there's a lady on the IVF thread I've just joined who did her first cycle at Reprofit - she had only good things to say about them Smile

MrsC2013 · 14/08/2015 18:21

Yeah Zazzles, I'm definitely going to keep taking the Agnus and losing weight. The consultant at the hospital won't consider much else than they've already done until my BMI is under 30 so it's my only option medically in order to be able to try Clomid. If nothing else happens through taking the Agnus, at least my PMT is practically gone! lol They're also hoping the weight loss will help me ovulate on my own, so fingers crossed! It's what's keeping me going at the moment as it's been such a long road already.

MrsC2013 · 14/08/2015 18:25

Rosebud- I'm not sure if you need more details of meds for the stats? If so, I'm no longer on Metformin but was taking 500mg per day (if I remember correctly). I thought this was on the low side but consultant was happy with it. I'm just taking 1000mg Agnus Castus per day at the moment and nothing else.

VixxFace · 14/08/2015 18:41

I took soy for 1 cycle and it messed it up. Since then actually I haven't had a regular period. I don't know if it's a coincidence and I have pcos anyway but I just thought it affected it.

RoseBud2015 · 14/08/2015 18:48

Freddie It's great that we can experience the 150mg together! Cycle buddies..... almost! I'm actually hoping for some side effects this time- didn't have ANY on 50mg or 100mg! I reckon side effects are probably a sign of it working!

Vixx so sorry that 100mg didn't work. Please don't take 150mg without some sort of monitoring- I know it's a pain because you will have to pay for the follicle tracking scan, but it's a very strong dose and not worth the risk of OHSS. At least me and you are clomid failures together along with NewbySmile

Zazzles I've updated you- thanks! Can I recommend that you increase your soy gradually from 70mg up to a maximum of 200mg over the 5 days- it seems to be most effective when taken in that way. Look at the stats of some of our BFPs to get more ideas!

Banana Thanks for that. It just further confirms my own findings- I am yet to find a negative review or feedback.... and I'm looking pretty hard! Wink Smile

Ponty That's fab! Keep going- you are doing so well!

Isit Where are you???? Hope you are ok? I'm not sure if I've missed your 150mg clomid update but would love to know whether it did anything for you!

And where are Ain and mistletoe- hope you ladies are ok? x

Hi ladies! Am at the airport! Have recovered from my little episode last night and am ready to fly off. Having a very small glass of champers with DH - woo hoo!

Fx that you all have good news to report when I'm back in a fortnight. I expect at LEAST another 5 BFPs! (Meanwhile I'm on cd18 and all my opks have been negative and my temp all over the place so I think ov might not be happening for me this cycle. Oh well, who cares - I'm off to the jungle! Smile).

Good luck and positive vibes to all xxxxx

ZazzlesTheCat · 14/08/2015 19:10

Rosebud - thanks! I think I'll now do 70, 70, 105,105, 140

Don't want to go in too strong for fear of lessing up my cycles! :)
