Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also know as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit). Or PIATLH (Tea light holder) PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage. Self explanatory, who wouldn't?

ROC - Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Shagging like Something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing A Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

Holding out hope for some positive news for you 5hell

rehomedcitygirl · 21/04/2015 09:59

I don't mind at all hearing about the worst times as well as the happy. I'm glad that there is a place to vent anonymously and that there is support for those having a terrible time. I've just started trying, but hearing about everyone's experiences gives me some perspective. I hope this is everyone's year xx

honeysucklejasmine · 21/04/2015 11:10

There are more toilets in my house than people. And a whole bathroom I never go in to. family home without children

Just been to aquasculpt. Now waiting in the car park before I head to my client appointment at 11.15.

What is everyone having for tea tonight? Inspire me!

goodnessgraciousgouda · 21/04/2015 11:14

Totally Anon - That house is lovely, but I could never live in a thatched house. We had one catch fire a while back and it took the fire dudes about 9 hours to put it out. For real. Apparently if you're not careful it just SMOULDERS away deep inside then catches fire again. They are so pretty though.

Chat That house is lovely too. I really like the mix of an older looking property which has been pretty much completely modernised inside.

My dream house has to be in the south though (for work). So far my list of totally unrealistic requirements consist of:

1 Big garden. I have a dream of keeping bees you see. I'm not actually joking either....

2 WOOD BURNER. There is one at a friend's parent's house (yes, we still hang out at parents' houses even though we are 30) and it is the best thing ever.

3 Three reception rooms. A lounge, a dining room, and a room I can put the grand piano that I inherited from a grandmother, and have never lived anywhere big enough to house it.

4 Massive kitchen. Our current kitchen is a shoe box and is difficult to cook in.

5 Wooden floors. I don't know why I have such an aversion to carpets. I think it's because I had wooden floors in my second apartment and had the sudden realisation that when (not if, when) I spilt wine THERE WERE NO STAINS. Bit of kitchen roll and BAM. No-one's the wiser.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 21/04/2015 11:19

This one is pretty awesome, but requires a mega euromillion win. Also, if I try to imagine living in the house, all I can see is an image of me and my husband wandering around completely lost calling out "HELLO? HELLO? ARE YOU AROUND?" trying to find each other.

The gardens have epic bee potential however.

Ooo I love it! But why can't we all just live in castles in scotland? www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-46863553.html

Cake and Flowers for 5shell and daisy I hope you get answers today. You don't bring us down, it's good to express your feelings. We need an ice cream emoticon.

Jcandy · 21/04/2015 11:43

honey I'm having hunters chicken (chicken wrapped in bacon and bbq sauce and topped with cheese) coz I've been craving it. With sweet potato wedges and roasted veg on the side Grin

goodnessgraciousgouda · 21/04/2015 11:47

pickle I am a bit of a wuss but I don't think I could live in a 16th century building. Every time the power went down I would be all "THE PARANORMAL IS MAKING ITSELF KNOWN AND IS GOING TO RE-ENACT THE PLOT OF OCULUS IT IS THE END OF DAYS".

Also, any listing with "Price on Application" makes me break out in a cold sweat. Then again if you did win the euromillions mego roll over you could just someone to build an exact replica wherever the fuck you wanted.

"Hello and welcome to my brand new 16th century Scottish castle, currently based in Kent"

goodnessgraciousgouda · 21/04/2015 11:50

Also, I've just seen people talking about cooking.

I found a recipe for fortune cookies on BBC food yesterday!! It's actually really good and I'd recommend it! You can only cook in batches of 3 though else they are too cold to mould when out the oven.

Writing bizarre personalised fortunes for all my husband's colleagues was super fun.

If you guys have any dinner parties or whatever coming up I'd say go for it!

Today I am doing choc chip cookies and plaited bread.

fallenstar27 · 21/04/2015 11:53

That sounds amazing j.

I'm gonna make a lasagne from a nigella book I got at Christmas.

lildottie · 21/04/2015 11:57

I'm having sausages with onion gravy and loadsa veg if I go and take the sausages out the freezer

stop talking houses! I'm still waiting to exchange on my new house! gx it will happen on Friday and we'll be moving early May!

picklethistle · 21/04/2015 12:27

Haha gouda that would be excellent! runs off to check next euro millions date

We are having leek risotto for dinner, very excited!

TotallyAnonymousUsername · 21/04/2015 12:38

We're having homemade pizza for dinner tonight. I'm lazy and buy the bases though!

gouda your list of wants is similar to mine (not the bees though Shock). I love them old though, I could never build my dream house because my criteria includes it being a old as possible.

I've just started spotting Ah well, onwards and upwards. At least that gives me a ten day lp.

TotallyAnonymousUsername · 21/04/2015 12:40

Oh lil how exciting! Good luck, I hope it all goes okay. Fantasy house buying is so much less stressful than actual house buying.

nutellawithbananas · 21/04/2015 12:45

Our dinner is slow roast pork with apples and parsnips...
I like hearing all sides of TTC..
Currently in the 2 week wait and even though I'm trying not to - i keep thinking about 'what if' it's worked and what day am I going to give in and test. (Last time I was due on a Thursday and I remember waiting till Monday!)

nutellawithbananas · 21/04/2015 12:48

Bad luck totally - i think I saw a previous post and looked like we were at similarish points in cycle... cheer yourself up with chocolate and property porn...
Lildottie - i hate that period - designed to make you have a nervous breakdown...

goodnessgraciousgouda · 21/04/2015 12:49

nutella - That's what I'm trying to do. Simply not think about it! I'm due next wednesday and part of me thinks if I just somehow forget about it, it will happen!

How far into the tww are you?

SunshinePickle · 21/04/2015 13:03

I now really want to live in that Scottish castle. I'd insist on wearing a ballgown to dinner. Can't believe it says that it's been used for offices. It would feel pretty glam to go there for work in the morning. Bit upset it doesn't have a floor plan so I can obsess over it some more.

DH got a new job last week, so my new hobby is spending hours searching at all the lovely, much more affordable houses, where we're moving to. Means we might actually be able to buy a house in a couple of years.

Honey I'm going to be naughty about dinner tonight and get a takeaway, but I'm not sure what. I'm starting night shifts tomorrow night so I think I need a treat.

5hell · 21/04/2015 13:24

dinner = rump steak tonight

EPU = depressing. scan showed no growth of sac, as expected; MC not complete; waiting for blood test results then will discuss options I guess. I can't believe there could still be weeks more of waiting.

Second birth announcement of the day has pushed me over the edge :(

picklethistle · 21/04/2015 13:32

Flowers 5shell I'm so sorry, big hugs. Definatley ice cream for you tonight.

picklethistle · 21/04/2015 13:33

Autocorrect 5hell

MyBlackCat · 21/04/2015 13:34

5hell so sorry for you, us viroids are here when you need us xx

SockQueen · 21/04/2015 13:46

So sorry 5hell, sending you newbie best wishes.

I'm unsure about dinner tonight. Am having some kind of culinary crisis - I've never been a great cook, but usually manage to feed DH and me without poisoning us. We had a total disaster on the weekend when I tried to make a curry in our new slow cooker. DH made me put asafoetida in it, even though I hate the smell of the stuff, and I managed to put in way too much (as in 1/2 a tsp instead of 1/4), rendering the whole massive pot inedible. This is on top of a recent disaster where I tried to cook baby spinach the same way as normal spinach, not realising that it's really meant for salad, and my first slow cooker attempt, which was a sausage casserole I found perfectly edible but he said was boring.

He wanted to do some other kind of curry, and got the chicken out to defrost in the fridge yesterday, but has gone off to work and I've no idea when he'll be back, so I probably have to do this. But now I'm scared I'll cock it up again! Sad

goodnessgraciousgouda · 21/04/2015 13:59

sock - if you can get to M and S they do a brilliant green thai curry sauce (make sure you get the sauce and not the paste!)

All you need to do is cook the chicken in a pan, take it out, cook some peppers/onions/courgette/whatever, add the chicken back in, put in the jar of sauce, then turn the temperature down and let it simmer for 10 mins.

It's super easy, the sauce isn't particularly calorific, and it tastes yum.
