Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also know as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit). Or PIATLH (Tea light holder) PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage. Self explanatory, who wouldn't?

ROC - Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Shagging like Something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing A Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

sunshine that sounds like a great plan. I'll be on the wine

lildottie · 26/04/2015 22:19

country that is beautiful contraband. wish mine would hurry up and do that!

ain yay for potential witch at last! will you be trying any contraband once you get a new cycle or taking soy or anything? if you don't have a bfp of course!

Niffertiti · 26/04/2015 22:23

Oooh, pretzel, pickle, I'm due Friday too, poas party?Wink I should wAait til I'm a couple of days late I know but I have a cupboard full of ics

Ain Gx for uterine action - IB hopefully but if not then af!

Niffertiti · 26/04/2015 22:27

Aux yes, it will mean getting on a plane at 32 weeks - probs back to UK, otherwise to a big regional capital with western-standard healthcare. Bloods products apparently aren't safe. So it looks like I will be moving back in with mum and dad to have first child. Hmmm. Pros - free babysitting/nappy changing. Cons - we might all kill each other...

CountryGal4 · 26/04/2015 22:28

Worryingly that'll put this cycle at around. 27 days :s . Will they ever calm down?? Stupid fanjo. 28 41 35 32 then 27 god no wonder why I have to resort to contraband

pretzelpieces · 26/04/2015 22:34

niffertiti and sunshinepickle Honestly I think there's no chance for me this cycle because I was way late to DTD but I'm totally up for a POAS party if only in solidarity! I'll have a cupboard full of ICs by then too oh dear Of course we'll wait till Sunday like sensible people

niffertiti situation with mum and dad sounds... challenging, but potentially helpful?

Niffertiti · 26/04/2015 22:43

Country Confused that is well confusing. A few days here and there is quite normal though isn't it? The 40-odd day one is an outlier but otherwise they're not bad - mine vary from 26-32 days ish I think...

Pretzel you never know. The month I got (non-sticky) bfp we'd been on different continents during fertile window then I had a 10 day bleed around normal af time... I must have iced late and caught it at the reunion shag. It only takes once!

pretzelpieces · 26/04/2015 22:52

niffertiti Well we shall see what AF has to say about it, but ready and willing to piss with the best of 'em Grin

lildottie · 26/04/2015 22:56

country my early post BC cycles were 31,43,86,47,37,32,30,37,33,31,36,33,38 then I had my shortest cycle at 28 days followed by another quite long 36 dayer (which was actually latest icing cycle other than the 86day one, lp was a bit out) after that there was one other 36day cycle but otherwise they settled to 30-34days. then it all got screwed up again by BC ivf and mc! Grin my point is even after 2years my cycles weren't all that regular, and only towards the end of the 2yrs did they really start 2 settle, so don't worry about cycle lengths, your ovulating and have a good lp and that's what is important

honeysucklejasmine · 26/04/2015 23:41

Gosh, I am so glad I never took the pill. I am 26/27 days bang on every single time. Don't think I could cope with long cycles!

honeysucklejasmine · 27/04/2015 06:56

Well, that serves me right! Spotting on CD25 (12dpo) so on to cycle 11!

CountryGal4 · 27/04/2015 06:58

Thanks lil and niff good to know!

jellypi3 · 27/04/2015 07:54

My cycles have been steady until this month country. Was 24 days this month :(

Although I am confused because the witch has all but vacated the premises (just spotting now) so she was here for two days Confused It was deffo full on witch (TMI: very clotty) but I've never had one so short. Maybe short cycle = short witch?

honeysucklejasmine · 27/04/2015 08:10

Jelly have I come on early so we can stay in sync? Will be icing again around May 10th.

Due date was May 11th. Sad

jellypi3 · 27/04/2015 08:14

Oh no honey I was so hoping this was your month. I'm icing on 9th apparently!! :)

honeysucklejasmine · 27/04/2015 08:21

Me too! Oh well. I need to get back on with the diet in a big way. I haven't gained much back (like, 3lbs? Which is my daily fluctuation anyway) but have lost any for a few months either! Doing exercise now so should be falling off. So I shall be meal planning a super speedy week and seeing how far the scales can go. DH has emptied the hot tub (a huge sacrifice for him) so it's my turn now.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 27/04/2015 08:35

jelly - I'd agree that short cycle often means short witch. I've been noticing this as my cycles shorten. I actually even took a test the week after I had finished last month just to make sure!! It's saddening, but at least you get more opportunities with shorter cycles I guess.

Feathered - Let us know how you get on with the cripplingly overpriced modern marvel which are the ov sticks. They have always appealed to me, personally (though can't afford them no matter how many advantage points). I think I must just enjoy urinating on things....I guess that's part of the appeal?

Country - I'd say that it took a good two years for my cycles to settle down after I came off the pill. At first it was 32/35 day cycles, and then gradually over the course of the two years it dropped down to 28 day cycles. Then over the last year it's 25/26 day cycles. I do remember within the first year there were some very bizarre jumps though. Although have to say never quite as extreme as what you describe.

That said I have another friend who came off the pill and got pregnant about six months later which was a bit of a surprise to her and her partner. I remember her talking about her cycles being pretty irregular when she had just come off the pill, so I guess the moral of the story is that everyone is different, and irregular cycles don't mean that you're out of the game!

I could get AF anytime from now until Thursday. I'm trying not to stress about it Cake Had some cramping yesterday so was worried my cycle was be getting shorter again.

pretzelpieces · 27/04/2015 08:48

honey sorry that AF turned up. What sort of exercise do you do? I haven't found anything that I like that isn't full contact and DP says he wishes I was more active (charming!)

Good luck gouda, am also feeling crampy today (due fri).

WouldRatherHaveWine · 27/04/2015 09:19

Hello all, total emotional mess today, my baby is one!!! :'( when did that happen?!

Also my AF is late. Was so hoping that this cycle would be back to normal. Witch where the feck are you?!

5hell · 27/04/2015 10:35

happy birthday babyWine Cake

my new bff glow counts a "regular" cycle as anything within a 4 day variance each month, so perhaps we shouldn't expect clockwork

gouda...i think this: I think I must just enjoy urinating on things... may be a little too kinky even for me Shock Wink

goodnessgraciousgouda · 27/04/2015 10:45

5hell - I was of course referring to objects rather than people! Grin

SockQueen · 27/04/2015 10:55

Ain626 - results were fairly inconclusive according to GP, though I think (I am also a doctor, though not a GP/gynaecologist) that slightly high testosterone (3, where upper limit of normal = 2.6) and LH:FSH ratio of 3 (though taken at a random point in cycle so no idea of real significance) could point to PCOS. Could be a case of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing though! I have been referred for an ultrasound so am waiting for that appt.

Had some spotting overnight during night shift, so it may be that AF might be making her elusive appearance finally! I seem to have done loads of nights in the last couple of months, and do wonder if repeatedly changing my sleep/wake cycle from days to nights and back again might be confusing my poor hormones. Unfortunately they're not optional though.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cheapy OPKs? If this is AF arriving, I'd be keen to use them on this cycle to see if anything is happening.

jellypi3 · 27/04/2015 11:09

sock most of us buy the cheap ones on amazon or eBay. One Step I think they are called.

FeatheredTail · 27/04/2015 12:14

Morning Viroids

Happy birthday to baby Wine!

Pretzel I used to be quite the exerciser and think it depends on what you're into. If you have a gym membership, I thoroughly recommend body pump - low impact, resistance training to music. If you fancy something a bit more 'fun' then go for zumba. If you don't have a membership, are you a jogger? I went from not being able to run for 5 minutes to doing a marathon a few years ago. All you need is a pair of ear phones, a good play list and some trainers!

Sock the cheapy OPKs I got were from Amazon...they looked pretty generic. I can't comment on how good they are - I've only peed on them through being excited and wanting to try them out rather than when I've actually been icing I have something in common with Gouda so they've never given me positive result.

This is weird....so I'm not due to ice until next Monday and I'm due to start testing with my rip off ClearBlue monitor from tomorrow...but my CM has a definite EW feel to it. Seriously stretchy. I don't understand - I only finished AF on Friday/Saturday. I can't be icing already, surely?

I better not be: DH is working late tonight, so the chance of shagging is minimal....Confused

Lookingforadvice123 · 27/04/2015 12:21

Afternoon all! So still no sign of af or any more spotting for me (unless she's appeared since the last time I went to the loo)! Af due yesterday so barely late, cycle day 29 but I just want to know either way now. Planning on buying a test either lunchtime or after work, and trying desperately to hold my wee in for 4 hours before taking it, which will be hard as I'm going to yoga before going home! I usually drink minimum 2 litres of water a day so trying to drink less in the effort to make my wee more concentrated. Hoping to find a FRER.

How's everyone's Monday?
