Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also know as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit). Or PIATLH (Tea light holder) PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage. Self explanatory, who wouldn't?

ROC - Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Shagging like Something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing A Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

Hi all - been quiet because AF has wiped me out and I'm shattered. DP is playing with DD so I've managed to snooze this morning and now can get on MN while I wait for a cup of tea!
Re. Hayfever - i would probably follow the advice i glad when pg - see if topical remedies (eye drops and nasal spray) can ease the symptoms enough and only if they don't and it's really bad then take a tablet. For me it's my eyes that get worst affected and i can usually cope with just the drops.

lildottie · 25/04/2015 09:17

Clarytin?

SunshinePickle · 25/04/2015 09:23

Country piriton is chlorphenamine. I love it because it helps me snooze when I'm jet lagged after nights.

Ethyl POAS!! Hope you get a bfp.

ethelfleda · 25/04/2015 09:25

Morning everyone! How are we all besides hayfever problems? POAS will commence in the morning... Unless I get impatient and do it today. I have to go buy some and we are out and about today so will pick some up. Whoop! Hope everyone has an ace weekend x

Hobbit19 · 25/04/2015 09:25

Hmmmm, shouldn't affect Oving as far as I am aware. Your immune system will attack DH'S sperm but everyone's does that. When you get preggo obviously the cells of the embryo are 'non-self' and therefore should be attacked and destroyed by your immune system. Hence your immune system winds down in pregnancy to stop this happening. I believe some mcs are caused by the mother's immune system. However, as far as I am aware, there is no correlation between incidences of this happening and being a hayfever sufferer. Your immune system is reacting to one (extremely common) antigen. If you think of all the other hundreds of foreign bodies that get inhaled/ingested by you in one day, it shows that your immune system is probably what is considered 'normal' these days. If it makes you feel any better I have way to much histamine in my skin. I can draw patterns on my arms using the back of a pen and it will rise up like scars that last about 10 minutes freaky. And I got upduffed on cycle two and am currently chugging along just fine at 5/6 weeks. So in summary, I wouldn't worry about it. I would talk to your doc/pharmacist about taking the tablets though and are they okay now and/or should you stop taking them if you get a BFP? Have you tried earing local honey? Apparently it can help desensitise you to the pollen.

Lookingforadvice123 · 25/04/2015 09:38

Ethel you have the willpower of a nun! I would've poas'd the day after af was due if not before! I'm poas tomorrow morning if no signs of af today...best of luck to you!

Lookingforadvice123 · 25/04/2015 09:40

Although I really feel I'll start spotting today and will thus be out. Also can't find a FRER anywhere they seem to be out of stock. Shows how impatient the general female population are. Experienced j-shaggers, is there another test I can use on the DAY af is due rather than the day after? Don't fancy poas on Monday then having to go to work...

ethelfleda · 25/04/2015 09:41

Hi lookingforadvice. Not sure it is willpower more than naivety to be honest! Good luck to you for tomorrow... Fingers crossed x

Stoatystoat · 25/04/2015 09:47

SuperDrug ones are sensitive

Hobbit19 · 25/04/2015 09:48

Ooh exciting looking POAS party for you two tomorrow! I ordered pissy sticks off amazon, you can normally get next day delivery... but it is Sunday tomorrow. Day before AF should show up I think if it is a sensitive test. I have heard that Super drugs own are good.

OP posts:
Hobbit19 · 25/04/2015 09:50

I also didn't want to find out in the morning and then go to work so I POAS when I got home from work. (Just held my wee for a bit) worked a treat.

OP posts:
Lookingforadvice123 · 25/04/2015 09:56

Thanks pud, I'll try and get to a Superdrug today! So paranoid of bumping into someone I know when buying a test, was hoping the Lloyds local to me would have them but they didn't when I checked the other day! I think Lloyds do their own brand "sensitive" ones though so might just get one of them if I can't get to Superdrug...

How's your little bean doing pud? Any symptoms yet?

honeysucklejasmine · 25/04/2015 10:03

Pud where did you go to uni? I did a similar degree. Science FTW!

Lookingforadvice123 · 25/04/2015 10:04

Ok now I'm confused. Just went on the old app I was using before ttc (needed one to track when af would come after stopping the pill!) and that one says af is due Mon instead of tomorrow, but that would be cycle day 29, whereas I tend to have 28 day cycles? What do you think, stick with what Ovia is saying (I imagine it's a bit more sophisticated and I've been entering more data into it)? Tomorrow will be 13 dpo (according to the app again) if that helps...

5hell · 25/04/2015 10:21

Looking id go for the app with the most up to date data

Country some anti histamines are considered safe for pg (and by inference ttc) as they gave been used for soooo long and i believe are given to ladies with HG to help with sickness. Unfortunately I've no idea which ones. ..sorry!

Hobbit19 · 25/04/2015 10:36

Looking, little Christmas Pud seems to be doing well. Lots of symptoms, mostly my uterus stretching which is actually quite uncomfortable! The the whole thing is really scary, but exciting too! Excited to telly parents in two weeks, think it will feel real then. Smile

justtheonethen · 25/04/2015 11:41

I take daily antihistimines as if I don't my lips swell up like a shit version of Angelina Jolie.

The nhs advice is pretty comprehensive and I follow that:
^^If you can’t use nasal sprays, nose drops or eye drops, or if they don’t work for you, your GP may recommend an oral antihistamine called loratadine.
If loratadine is not suitable or does not work for you, your GP may instead recommend another oral antihistamine called cetirizine.
Some oral antihistamines can cause drowsiness; these are known as sedating antihistamines. However, loratadine and cetirizine are non-sedating and are the preferred oral antihistamines for treating hay fever during pregnancy.
The sedating oral antihistamine chlorphenamine is also considered safe to take during pregnancy. However, this should be avoided close to labour and childbirth as it can cause problems in the baby, such as irritability or tremors (shaking).^^

pretzelpieces · 25/04/2015 12:21

Pud so glad Christmas pud is being sticky for you, so exciting.

Ethel, POAS! hope you get a bfp!

ethelfleda · 25/04/2015 15:18

Just got the BFP!!!!!!!! AGH!

MyBlackCat · 25/04/2015 15:35

LEMON ALERT!!!

Congrats Ethel for a sticky one x

Hobbit19 · 25/04/2015 15:41

Eeeeep!!!! Ethel, that is amazing and also completely ridiculous, that must be a record for the most kitten - like behaviour of all time! Pictures (off the pissy stick) and stats (how long you have been ttc etc). Go!

MyBlackCat · 25/04/2015 15:44
