Hey ladies!

My DH and I are going to start TTC next month when we go on holiday - I am so excited!!

I have been tracking my cycle for a few months just so I am in tune with myself and I'm aware of ovulation signs etc.

I just wondered how it took others to fall pregnant with their first baby?

I have regular periods, am 24,DH is 28. Both fit and healthy.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Stopped pill. Had 1 period. Was then pregnant. Wishing you luck.

Keyhawk · 08/01/2015 21:53

Wow that is great!

I came off the pill a year ago so I could track my cycle etc.

I have it in my head that it will take up to six months but obvs I hope it'll be less than that. Eeeek

I came off the pill on October to let my cycles sort themselves out, DH had a vasectomy reversal on December 5th, I fell pregnant on the 22nd December and got my BFP on New Years day! Complete shock as dd1 wasn't tried for for had a year on no contraception before she was conceived. Dd2 took 9 months!
Good luck :D

Mrsgrumble · 08/01/2015 22:44

Over a year with first.. Er no time with second.. Maybe two weeks (two under 14 months)

PacificDogwood · 08/01/2015 22:47

One year first time round.
3x early MCs - always conceived within a cycle or two.
The DS1 and DS2 in (very) quick succession.
Further early MC.
DS3 and DS4 conceived quickly.

It's a lottery.

One fifth of healthy couples with take more than 1 year to conceive.

Stop contraception, take your pregnancy vitamins and go for it Grin
Don't fret (if you can help it).
It may take some time. Or it may not.

Good luck! Thanks

StetsonsAreCool · 08/01/2015 22:47

First baby took 3 months of trying after stopping pill.

Second baby - one go. Literally had sex once that month, we weren't trying hard, if at all (more of a practice month) Shock

RiverTam · 08/01/2015 22:50

just shagging? - ages

using an ovulation kit - straight away.

Schoolaroundthecorner · 08/01/2015 22:52

3 months at 29 with first, 9/10 months with second (early miscarraige followed by getting pregnant again the next month).

robotnikchair · 08/01/2015 22:58

Implant out, 2 months of using condoms so I knew where I was with my cycle then got pregnant the third month of trying. Now DD is 2 the implant is coming out next week and we'll start TTC end of March. I feel we were lucky first time around and expect it to take longer this time but who knows?

Fingers crossed OP and all those hoping to get pregnant

BumWad · 09/01/2015 08:28

First time about 15-18 cycles age 29-30

Second time 8 cycles age 32

I have a blocked Fallopian tube though.

MaMaPo · 09/01/2015 08:30

First child, cycle 2.

Second child, nine cycles and counting... Sad

tumbletumble · 09/01/2015 08:31

DC1 was on the third month of trying, DC2 and DC3 happened immediately. Good luck!

Cupcakes123 · 09/01/2015 08:34

Stopped pill in June (whilst on holiday)
Had a very early miscarriage in October and fell successfully pregnant in December.

We used an app to track fertile days and ovulation sticks.

Good luck Grin

0ddsocks · 09/01/2015 08:35

I tracked my cycles so knew my fertile days - DD conceived 1st month of trying, then 1 yr later 2 MC in a row, followed by DS.

I tended to get pregnant every month we tried, but lost two of four pregnancies very early.

Primaryteach87 · 09/01/2015 08:40

3 years (with medical help in the last year).

Age not always best predictor as I was in my mid 20s and a friend mid 30s. She got pregnant 'first try'.

Good luck

Number3cometome · 09/01/2015 12:09

DC1 - 18 months
DC2 - 4 years
DC3 - 3 months!!!

Keyhawk · 09/01/2015 13:19

Thanks for all your comments ladies.

I am itching to get started but we agreed on February and DH won't budge to doing it next week after this period!! :(

18 months (had to ring up and cancel initial infertility appointment) & 3 months.

trufflehunterthebadger · 09/01/2015 13:24

Took out iud. Had a period. The Next month i was pregnant

Trinpy · 09/01/2015 13:25

18 months the first time. Second time we conceived straight away, weren't even trying really. We're going to start ttc again later this year so I'm going to go with the not-really-trying approach as it worked very well last time!

Choccyhobnob · 09/01/2015 13:32

I don't really know how long to class it as!

First 6 months, trying all the time but now know I wasn't ovulating. Decided to stop trying and so didn't do it near ovulation for 4 months. 'Accidentally' dtd near ovulation in Nov and Dec and got my BFP this week!

So it took 6 months for ovulation to return but I suppose it only took 2 cycles of doing it at the 'right' time!

AliMonkey · 09/01/2015 13:32

Had three pregnancies. Each time we had sex once (deliberately in the 10-14th day window) and got pregnant. We were very lucky - although first time ended in MC. It did at least make me glad that I had bothered with contraception previously! Most people are not so lucky so don't get your hopes up.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 09/01/2015 13:34

Start taking preg vitamins now (or just folic acid) if you want to TTC in Feb.

6 months - felt like ages. Ovulation kits were useless, until I realised I was ovulating days before I should, then got pregnant straight away.

Keyhawk · 09/01/2015 14:05

I have started taking Folic Acid and vitamins and so has DH!

GingerbreadHead · 09/01/2015 20:09

With DD, second month of trying.
With this one, 18 months of trying very hard and trying every trick in the book, but we got there in the end! Now 13 weeks pregnant.
There really seems to be no rhyme nor reason to any of it! Good luck OP Smile
