nolly I really hope you're doing ok. Flowers I've been thinking of you lots.

Four babies happy, sheesh! We had two sets of triplets living down our road when I was growing up but I've never come across quads. I wonder if the triplets were the result of fertility treatment, it wouldn't have crossed my mind before now to even ask that question.

I will join you all on the healthy eating and exercise front. I was pretty good in 2014 to be fair, but the last few weeks have been a write off and I feel a bit yuck. Still trying to shake off this cold/chest infection too.

No new year's resolutions for me as such though, just to try and maintain a positive outlook and be kind to myself and others.

Hope you're all doing ok. Another slow office day here.....yawn.

WildflowerMarmalade · 02/01/2015 12:29

Yes, Tiger January's healthy eating plan is going well so far. I've had just one small slice of Christmas cake and limited myself to eating just one layer of my Green & Blacks selection box.

tigerdog · 02/01/2015 13:23

wild I'm not even pretending that the health kick starts until Monday. There are chocolates to be eaten for one, and we have one last Christmas/New Year catch up with friends this weekend. Off the booze though, until at least the end of January.

greatbigbushybeard · 02/01/2015 18:15

Love it wild- 1 layer of the green & blacks!! That's kinda healthy because it's dark chocolate & good for mood etc.

I have a chocolate log to eat..

lumen · 02/01/2015 18:33

Ohhh chocolate log, mmmmm

My healthy eating hasn't started yet either but I have planned next weeks food today and just got back from food shopping. Tomorrow will involve making soup for lunches and some chicken curry to put in the freezer for days I can't be arsed to cook Grin

Just seen my mate from the fancy London clinic, they have taken bloods every other day since her bfp and will continue until 6 week scan. Soooo different to the clinic we used.

Last weekend of my holiday, still fighting this cold and need to take down the decorations, any offers of help?

WildflowerMarmalade · 02/01/2015 20:18

Right, I think I've pulled it back on the health kick front by going swimming this evening. Hurrah!

Although, mmmm, chocolate log sounds delicious.... Will you be sharing Bushy ? And how are you feeling?

Lumen I'm impressed by your meal planning, and cooking something decent to pull out of the freezer when you might be tempted to dial a takeaway is a fab plan.

Glad to hear your friend is getting every attention possible from her FC.

greatbigbushybeard · 02/01/2015 22:26

Always happy to share wild. I'm good but windy, indegestiony and feeling bit sick but hey ho, it's all good.

Been for a walk today on the virtuous front!

beakybeak · 02/01/2015 22:29

Aww Happy that was a lovely article! I hope they all do well over the next few weeks. As Tiger says it's interesting as I know someone work two sets of twins although a few years apart, but I now wonder if they were IVF. obsessed

Tiger is Monday the big day? Rubbish that you've had to go in today as well! My healthy January kick starts Monday, as does downregging! Eek. I've not managed to be alcohol free yet but will start Monday too and hopefully it will be for a while!

Wild green & blacks? Mmm! I'm currently eating chocolate dipped Florentines, they are so nice Smile do you have a date for starting your ivf yet? Also well done on the swimming! I've not done anything yet this year haha.

Lumen I'm super impressed at your organisation! How do you go about planning your meals? I basically do a list of meals we can eat then get the shopping in for it, is there a better way? I always run out of stuff and never stick to the meals Hmm I'll also be making soup for lunches this weekend! I'm pleased things seem to be going well for your friend, would you consider trying her clinic next time?

Bushy hope things are going well with you, enjoy your chocolate log!

Nolly ditto what tiger said, have been thinking about you and hoping you are as ok as you can be.

Going to read up on all of my IVF info again now to try and prepare for starting, I feel like I don't have a clue what I'm doing Confused

lumen · 03/01/2015 08:01

Hey beaky, if you have any IVF questions feel free to ask, after last year I feel like a seasoned pro! I think we will use my mates FC but MrL doesn't want to discuss until the spring and it will be a big decision as will cost three times the cycle we just paid for. But as I read somewhere once "the most expensive IVF cycle is the one that doesn't work" and this will be our last attempt.

Re the food planning, I literally plan all three meals a day for the week, including prep cooking and then stick to it. MrL works shifts so I think that encourages me to be organised. I have actually planned the next three weeks, with the help of some of my cook books to ensure some variety!

I'm so sad Wink

Pipbin · 03/01/2015 08:42

Beaky. I'm happy to answer IVF questions too. It's seems like so much information and so much to remember to start with.

Only one week left of injections here! I've been injecting every day since the end of September!

I don't meal plan. I have some vague ideas but mostly it comes down to what I fancy doing.

happylass · 03/01/2015 09:08

Another offer of advice and a hand to hold for the IVF Beaky. When do you start? It does feel very overwhelming at first but you'll soon get the hang of it all and wonder what the fuss is about!
My New Year's Resolution is to sort out our meals situation. I loosely meal plan and shop accordingly but things usually fall by the wayside when I'm shattered. DH doesn't get home from work until 9-10pm either which doesn't help. So I'm off to buy a slow cooker later and I'm going to batch cook and freeze the leftovers. Also aiming for a more healthy diet as things have slipped of late. We've hardly touched the Xmas goodies though as we've been away for the last week so I may need to lock them away and just bring them out on weekends!
Back to work on Monday which I'm dreading. Hope everyone is ok - have a good weekend all.

WildflowerMarmalade · 03/01/2015 10:09

Excuse my ignorance Pipbin but what are you injecting at this point? Is it progesterone?

Beaky Fingers crossed for you starting on Monday. Now that Christmas is out of the way everything is starting to happen.

AF is due in two weeks for me tempting fate and then I should have a scratch, and start long protocol.

Jelliebabe2 · 03/01/2015 11:40

Haven't been on for a bit! Still reading all though

Lumen - I would disagree with the most expensive thing! The thing is sometimes you just Dont know what is or isn't going to work and when. If you think that this is the best place then you go for it. However I would bear in mind that quantity of tries (3/4 normally) is the route to success isn't it?

Beaky - we're here to have hold you through it. When do you start? I might start the pill today for my next cycle, maybe tomorrow. Depends on AF. We could be cycle buddies! After the first coupla days you'll be fine.

Well I'll be de-decorating today, cleaning and prolly meal planning. We're both doing a lower carb more veg diet but I'll be 5/2 ing as well. Oh and no more booze Confused. Sigh. January will be a loooooong month!

Pipbin · 03/01/2015 12:46

Yes Wild progesterone. They rather you have the stuff you shove up your fanjo but I think the injections are better.
It does mean an injection in you bottom with a 3cm needle every day from egg collection to 12 weeks though!

beakybeak · 03/01/2015 14:03

Thanks lumen, Pip, Happy! for those that downregged did you have any side effects? Any tips for injecting?

lumen I saw on twitter that the Zita West clinic are having an open evening next week - just thought I'd mention it although I know you've said you'll probably use your friends clinic. I love the way you do your meal planning, I think it would be much easier but I suggested it to dh and he wasn't so keen! He is more fussy than me though.

Pip are you 12 weeks now then? That needle sounds painful!

Happy I read a thread on here about great slow cooker recipes I'll try and post a link if I can find it!

Wild fab that you are starting soon too, hopefully all will be on time and we can handhold with all the IVF'ers!

Jellie I'm booze free jan too Sad need to take my decs down as well but cannot be bothered to move today! I'm still in my pjs, soooo lazy.

lumen · 03/01/2015 14:53

Cheers beaky but MrL doesn't want to even talk about clinics until the spring Smile He needs time and that's fine by me.

jellie I would have agreed but I think I have either implantation or immune issues and my FC doesn't offer anything to investigate or treat these things.

beaky I don't give my dh a choice about the meal planning He isn't bothered as long as food is put in front of him Grin

Finally getting out of my pjs and going to town to get fresh air. Can't talk to anyone though as my cold has stolen my voice.

Is there an emergency gynae number you could ring Minx. I'm sure it will be fine. The operating lists will be fairly fixed so it won't be a case of finding someone to replace you at such short notice. The calling the hospital thing is probably a reminder for you as much as anything.

Hope your lap

Gillster · 03/01/2015 17:33

goes OK.

WildflowerMarmalade · 03/01/2015 18:49

I'm sure the hospital thing will be fine minx , even though you forgot to call them. Gil has made some very astute points there, such as that they will hardly sub someone else on at this point!

Beaky yay to holding hands with anyone who is willing for the coming cycle! Are excited at all or just nervous?

Ref the expensive IVF cycles, I had a long hard think about this as we are funding everything ourselves. I had a look at the success rates and figured that the spendy one had such a good success rate that it gave us almost the same chance of a result with one cycle as the normal ones did with three cycles.

But that decision was made after a long time of TTC and educating myself a lot about it all. And I also knew that I needed to try everything, and if we had gone to an ordinary clinic I would always have been left wondering, what if...

And I agree that it depends on what your issues are. If you suspect your case involves immunes or implantation then you need more than some clinics can give you.

WildflowerMarmalade · 03/01/2015 18:51

Oh and, Pip ouch! Those injections sound painful. Us your bottom all bruised? (Nosey).

And I'm really impressed with all your dry January efforts. I've just cracked open a bottle of red to mark the end of the festive season.
