Aww that's a lovely idea on christmas morning and you're right about the 'man looking' lol x
I'm due on the 27 Dec so going to do a test on Christmas morning with a frer which will either give me the green light to drink or celebrate the best Christmas present ever with a cup of tea lol

spinningirl10 · 22/12/2014 09:36

Dastardly, Woohoo CongratulationsGrinGrin love that you can tell Dh on Christmas Day, how wonderful. Ref Xmas day drinking, Yes say you're on anti biotics or maybe hungover from Xmas eve?

JessieMcJessie · 22/12/2014 09:37

Dastardly are you not close to your PIL? In your position I'd tell mine the truth, but then they could be very much trusted to keep it to themselves, and I'd want and need MIL's support if anything went wrong. (My own Mum is dead). Don't you think they'll guess anyway? Antibiotics is a bit of an old chestnut excuse.

DastardlyDachshund · 22/12/2014 09:38

That sounds brill. Hopefully you'll be having the cup of tea of course but if not, then I know where you can get some more alcohol (if you fancy travelling lol). Have you got any symptoms swaying you either way? Not much going on with me I have to say. I did have a pulling/pinching sensation in my abdomen yesterday but looking back I appear to have had that in some previous cycles too.

JessieMcJessie · 22/12/2014 09:40

In fact I must admit that if I ever get a BFP I am really looking forward to telling MIL, am worried she thinks that DH will miss out on kids due to marrying an old crone of 40.

Mumwannabe82 · 22/12/2014 09:45

I seem to be getting cramps on a daily basis but they started not long after ov and had a bit of spotting at 5dpo which I think is too early for implantation but with the weird and wonderful things that your body does, its still a possibility and my temp went sky high today which hasn't happened in the last couple of cycles so the positive signs are trying to sway me but don't want to get my hopes up after 7 months (9 cycles) of bfns then AF so taking the light approach and looking forward to Christmas either way xx

DastardlyDachshund · 22/12/2014 09:45

Thank you spinningirl10. Alas, being hungover probably wouldn't work as like I said, I very rarely drink.

Thanks JessieMcJessie. PILs will not be entirely supportive I fear. we are close enough but they are of the opinion that the two DC we have now are more than enough, particularly as we have one of each. They weren't particularly enthusiastic when we announced the news about DC2 tbh so am sure this will go down like a lead balloon if I'm honest.

The plan is to tell the children first anyway as after my husband they have the most right to know. Hopefully, I will be able to tell them after my first scan and can then show pils the picture.

DastardlyDachshund · 22/12/2014 09:52

Well to give you an idea of the difference JessieMcJessie, when we announced about DC2 the reply was 'Oh well, we knew that' (no way they could've). By comparison, when BIL and SIL announced their DC2, I was treated to a 'isn't it brilliant news about the baby?' So you can probably see why I am a bit uptight about it.

FX for you Mumwannabe82. I would have thought the spotting was a good sign tbh as it's so unusual in a 'normal' cycle iyswim. Also can't say re the cramps but the high temps are definitely a good sign imo. When charting with DC2 I never had a 'dip' but instead had a triphasic chart so hopefully the same will happen to you.

JessieMcJessie · 22/12/2014 09:56

Gosh. Perhaps if you were having a 5th child and were on benefits I could see why they might disapprove but I am a bit shocked that they'd think (or see fit to say) anything negative about a new grandchild. Surely none of their business beyond the usual grandparently family stuff? I avtually forgot to say congratulations! If you jardly ever drink then maybe just say you don't fancy a drink and leave it at that. Though if you are really trying to put them off the scent of thinking you might be pg, then hangover as a result of some made up impromptu Xmas eve occasion (a bad one because you so rarely drink Smile) is probably the best excuse.

Mumwannabe82 · 22/12/2014 09:57

Thanks dastardly I guess all I can do is watch this space lol xx good luck on Christmas day, I hope you get through it undetected Xmas Smile

DastardlyDachshund · 22/12/2014 10:23

Good luck to you too Mumwannabe82.

Thank you JessieMcJessie. I'd always planned to have more than 2 children as I am one of two myself and would have liked more siblings. Ironically my husband is one of four so really don't get why they are against us doing the same. I think it is because we rent and aren't in as good jobs as my husbands siblings. They probably see us as not having enough security to be having babies. There is favouritism with regards to babysitting etc too which they vehemently deny. In fairness, children aside, they are great.

spinningirl10 · 22/12/2014 10:26

Fx for you Mum, it sounds good so far.

Blue500 · 22/12/2014 10:33

Congrats Dastardly wonderful news Grin

Good luck Mum - I'm due af on Boxing Day but am going to poas with a frer on Christmas Eve ( and Xmas day if it's Bfn! )
I guess this time of year is win win - if it's a bfp then amaze balls but if it's bfn then I can drink and eat whatever I want over Xmas.

Good luck to anyone else still waiting

Mumwannabe82 · 22/12/2014 10:36

It is a win win lol good luck to you XXX I hope you are drinking tea with me lol xx

Cariad2014 · 22/12/2014 10:39

Huge congratulations Dastardly. It is always fab to see someone who has been on these buses a while getting a BFP - it gives me hope. I am SO excited for you - what a wonderful early Christmas present. I shall be keeping everything crossed that your lines get darker over the next few days. Woop woop! Xmas Grin

Blue500 · 22/12/2014 10:40

I would Love to be drinking tea but I'm not feeling very hopeful so I'm actually looking forward to lots of wine and cheese Grin

But who knows... I hope ur in a better position then me xx

DastardlyDachshund · 22/12/2014 11:23

Thank you Blue500 and Cariad2014.

Blue500, tbh I wasn't overly hopeful myself. We dtd 3 times this cycle and I have had no symptoms to speak of.

I tested on 9dpo and 10dpo but got a BFN both on IC's. Tested on an IC this morning and thought I could see something so broke out my last FRER here. Was super surprised when I checked it and saw a second line so used one of my Clearblue +Plus tests here. I know the lines are super faint in the pics as they tend to be. They are easier to see using invert/greyscale I have found.

FX for everyone still waiting. Hopefully some more Christmas presents are on the way. If not, I agree it is definitely win win this month.

Bovnydazzler · 22/12/2014 11:30

dastardly that's brilliant news after your wait! Enjoy the brews, I say go with UTI/antibiotic excuse, no one likes to question UTIs in detail!

I'm 11dpo, no symptoms and not feeling hopeful for this cycle (BFN at 9dpo). Planning to test Xmas eve so I can happily drink, I'd ideally leave it till 14dpo but don't think I can handle a BFN on xmas day!

DastardlyDachshund · 22/12/2014 12:07

Thank you Bovnydazzler. Don't want to get your hopes up but I am also 11dpo today and had BFN's at 9dpo and 10dpo Xmas Wink. My BFP (Bloody Faint Positive in my case lol) was actually quite a surprise. Think I only tested as I am a glutton for punishment it seems.

MsAR · 22/12/2014 13:19

AF got me last week so I'm off this bus and on the January one. Hopefully won't be too many of you lovely ladies joining me. Going to enjoy a boozy Christmas before committing to a sober January.

PaddingtonFromPeru · 22/12/2014 14:15

Sorry for lack of updates. Not looking positive here. Last time my breasts really hurt by this stage and there is no sign of that. Also had flu-like thing, so not sure if general tiredness is from that or not. Will let you know.

PaddingtonFromPeru · 22/12/2014 14:18

Oh and congrats to all the BFPs!

Rainy34 · 22/12/2014 14:19

Af has finally shown her face late last night , my god the cramps where horrendous been dosed up on paracetamol , least I know what is going on now x

Boobear1983 · 22/12/2014 14:40
