Hi zoo, I'm also lurking here these days!
I had a very traumatic birth with my DS, ending in an EMCS under general anaesthetic.
I found BFing in the hospital tough, I called the MWs every time I wanted to latch DS on. They encouraged me to feed him lying down - which I actually found quite painful because it pulled on my tummy.
So I decided that I would use pillows and sit up to feed which was much better. When we got home I bought one of those c-shaped pillows and used that for the first 6/8 weeks, especially in bed at night.
My milk didn't come in until Day 5 but that was down to my naïveté a bit - I let the MWs take DS from me for a couple of hours at night when I should really have been doing skin to skin with him and latching him on as much as possible!
Once we got home we got into our stride and he fed until 13mo (when I was about 12 weeks pg)
I've heard that with an elective section your milk is likely to come in more quickly. Anecdotally I've also heard that the recovery is easier because you haven't had the physical exhaustion of labour as well.
So, I've gone on a bit there! But basically I'd recommend a good pillow to protect your tummy in the early weeks and lots of help from someone to pass baby into bed to you for a while. And the usual advice of lots of skin to skin and latching on in the early days!
Best of luck, it's exciting to be into the third trimester.
Hello to everyone else, hope that 2015 will be your year mrsd and mrsc
I think I saw madrigals post on another thread and that she's had her baby but I can't remember any more details!
