Ive read another thread with interest about ttc after the pill & saw that a couple of posters were about to stop their bc pills so thought a new thread might be in order!
Im getting married in August & currently finishing my last packet of Yasmin. Excited & nervous all at the same time!

So who's with me?

*week or two!

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 23/09/2014 06:18

His lovebugs as the af on the pill is not a real af I think you count first af day as bein first day off the pill (for us Monday this week) so I don't think we are due a real af until mid October. I have had normal withdrawal bleed though. By my reckoning I won't ovulate until the end of next week. Seems to be very much a patience game! And I am very impatient :P what pill were you on?

Lovebugs2014 · 23/09/2014 07:39

Hi wanttobeamummy, I was on the mini pill micronor so had a proper period ever month as you have to take the pill each day without a break as its only one hormone and doesn't stop ovulation. I've read a bit on the net about it but everyone's experience is different, some got their AF as usual after stopping the pill, others got BFP straight away and then some waitied months for AF etc...I'm really not sure what to expect or how I'll know when ovulating so going to just see how it goes this month and may start with ovulation kit and checking mucus next month! Xxx

amy1492 · 23/09/2014 07:49

Hello

I was on micronor and cane off it 31st July this yr. since then I've had a 3 day bleed 19th till 21st aug.... not sure if I should class this as a withdrawal bleed? as it was not heavy.

then! my first "proper period" started 11th September and lasted 6 days !! This is more normal for me from what I remember.

I've used an app on my phone which says my fertile period has just passed. .. and indicating that I ovulated on Sunday although this would only be cd10... is this reliable?

since I've known about ovulation I tend to feel every twinge!! I don't want to start using opk until I am in a regular cycle otherwise it seems like a waste of moneySad

Lovebugs2014 · 23/09/2014 08:15

Hi Amy, thanks for your post, it's good to know others experiences of coming off the mini pill. The ovulation kits are expensive and also I read you are supposed to test in the daytime but I'm at work 9-6 do rely don't want to have to do these at work! Maybe I wid have to do at home but sometimes I don't get back till after 8pm which you aren't supposed to test after! Was hoping I wouldn't need the kits if we just practice every 2/3 days and I'm going to buy preseed lube as we usually need some but now read we should use are usual one! Xx

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 23/09/2014 11:48

Hi lovebugs that makes more sense! I was on the combined pill so had a week off ech month. As such think body will only realise I'm off it this week! Awaiting the pill symptoms... Expect to ovulate end of next week. Been checking CM no EWCM yet but seems to be showing good signs so who knows. All a complete mystery til we get our first af (or bfp!) I suppose! Be great if you have a bfp fx! Xx

kezaroo · 23/09/2014 13:33

Well I think I ovulated 13th Sept and woke up today with what felt like period pains. Nothing so far and pains have gone.

I am as impatient as the come so don't think I will cope if my cycles don't get back to normal shortly. It's so infuriating not knowing what my body is doing, more so when wanting to conceive!

I don't even know how long i should give it before doing a test now.

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 23/09/2014 13:39

Hi kezaroo I think you can test minimum 12dpo which would make it the 25th this Thursday - really soon! Good luck let us know how it goes!

kezaroo · 23/09/2014 15:46

Think my other half is getting annoyed at the amount of tests I've done so far.... Not sure how he will take it if I do one this week!
Hate the waiting game.

Justyouwaitandsee · 23/09/2014 18:01

Hi all (and *katybear - thanks for asking how things are going!)
I am now 8 weeks pregnant and am seeing the midwife tomorrow. Have been quite sick over the last couple of weeks and tired but just taking one day at a time.

In response to some of the questions above, I used the Ovia app which I found really helpful and internet cheapie OPKs (Something like £4.99 for 30) I only used them around my predicted fertile period, starting from my first proper cycle after my first period. I started off following the instructions to the letter (in terms of timing of the test and waiting for the sample to reach room temp etc) but in the end I got bored and just tested once I got in from work. They worked really well and seemed to accurately predict my ovulation. They helped me identify that I was ovulating later in my cycle than normal. We also used conceive plus lube in our final (successful) month of ttc.

Lovebugs2014 · 23/09/2014 20:40

That's useful to know justyouwait, hoping we can be as successful soon! Not sure what's going on with my body except nothing much...I'm hoping its good news that I haven't had AF yet this week but also finding it wired to think about going out at the weekend and drinking. Have really cut back on alcohol and only had a few drinks on sat night but not really feeling going out this weekend and drinking with not knowing what might or might not be going on with my body!

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 24/09/2014 19:32

Love bugs I feel the same as we have lots of people overdoe drinks at the weekend :S I think I'm going on assumption I'm not pg and will cut out alcohol when I am as it could take months! Update - has bit of cramping today and was sure I had EWCM yesterday but would this be too soon after coming off pill? I've been off it for 10 days... No idea what my usual cycle length is as last period I had I was about 15 :/ anyone else have info on first ov after pill?

Lovebugs2014 · 24/09/2014 23:10

Hi wanttobe, I've been reading on the Internet that we can still ovulate even if we haven't had AF yet so there is a chance we could get a BF in these ealy days...I'm just hoping that me and DH are fertile at all and it can happen naturally if possible and keep worrying what if we aren't and that's too scary at the mo! As I'm due to drink on Friday and sat night (not loads but a few glasses of wine) I may test on Friday as technically should have started AF Monday if I go by previous period etc...and I'm buying Preseed lube in preparation for it to be a BFN and we need to do more bonking!

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 25/09/2014 08:10

I know, out don't know if you are til you try! Yes I did some research to looks like you could o between 1-2 weeks. Guess will wait for af and see and if not will test! Too scared/excited - we have only dtd once so far as we were going to wait til af but then got impatient and decided to go for it :P

Freedom40 · 25/09/2014 09:58

Update from me. Back from holidays and feel better than i have in a long time. Totall believe all bc hormones out of my system. Had fladhing smilie face from clear bkue opk for the past 10 days waiting for peak but still dtd. I did hear somewher that being pregnant sometimes makes you really randy so fx for next week when i test. DH went to clinic to get s count tested as came off meds and he wants to make sure he the troops are all there and fighting fit.

Hope everyone is doing well. I think we will have a lot of BFPs this month and nextGrin

Lovebugs2014 · 25/09/2014 15:53

Good to hear wanttobe and freedom are in the same boat as me! We all just have to enjoy DTD as much as we have time for and see what happens, if nothing by end October then I'll look at ovulation kits.

Oh and in response to an earlier post on folic acid, my Dr advised to have 12wk stores if possible before conceiving so I started taking it in May but think as long as you have a few weeks in your system it should be fine xx

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 26/09/2014 21:30

How are you doing lovebugs and freedom? I am almost certain I ov'd on 10th day off pill. My cm definitely says so, and the left pelvic pain I was getting... Hard to tell tho as that would be quite early. But I been reading and you can ov at any point after pill - that's how people can get pregnant on pill of they miss a couple. If it only ever happene after 2 weeks then you would never get pregnant on the pill unless you missed it for 2 weeks. That is what my optimistic self is telling me anyway! Fx! I think therefore I may be on a tww. This ttc business really is not as cut and dry as I thought! Hope you girls doing well and go for signs of ov or af!

Littlemissjt · 26/09/2014 21:31

Hello everyone!

Not checked in for a while as nothing to update but now have af. Plus side is I have had another regular cycle I guess. I can't really moan as it's Only been two cycles, I'm just impatient haha! Apart from folic acid have any of you lucky ladies with bfp's taken any other vitamins? My friend recommended the well woman preconception tablets, she got her bfp when she started using them. How is everyone else doing?

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 26/09/2014 21:34

Little miss I am taking pregnacare but don't know whether it is worth it. Lots of people say it hives you bright yellow wee! (Yet to experience this...)

Justyouwaitandsee · 26/09/2014 21:52

Hi LittleMiss - nope, I just took basic Folic acid from Tesco. Switched to a Folic acid + vit D supp after my BFP as recommended...

Littlemissjt · 26/09/2014 22:06

Thanks girls. Might just stick with the plain old folic then!

Lovebugs2014 · 26/09/2014 23:58

I'm taking the Boots own conception support vitamins but had been taking the folic acid plus vit D on its own for the 12+ weeks before coming off the pill...just wanted to switch so I get all necessary vitamins though I have a healthy diet I have quite a low immune system. I did a test this morning as wanted to drink (or not!) tonight and got BFN which was disappointing but expected really as I've only been off the pill for 11 days! Still no AF and the boib tenderness I had last week and few days ago has gone. Been looking at CM and still very sticky (sorry if TMI!) so not looking positive. Anyway we keep DTD every couple of days and keep our fingers crossed it happens soon xx

Freedom40 · 28/09/2014 09:25

Well lack of patience and confusion caused me to test yesterday. Got tired of seeing the opk kit not producing results. Got a negative. Have no idea what is going on not sure if im even ovulating at this point. DH on a bit of a downer now understand why as he's in a lot of pain off mrds and we won't be able to wait much longer if no BFP shows up by next month. wannabemum totally agree not cut out of this TTC racket.
Going to drown my sorrows in some vino today.

Lovebugs2014 · 28/09/2014 10:19

Sorry to hear you are on a downer Feeedom, it must be hard if your DH isn't well and you both have the pressure of time as it does seem to be a wait and see game. I can't believe how hard it can be to concieve after so many stressed times whilst on the pill as a teenager/early 20's prying I wasn't pregnant and now we want it so much but haven't got a clue what my bidy is doing!!! I've ordered Preseed which has arrived and hoping that will help things in the next few weeks. Try to stay as positive as possible Freedom and keep DTD as sperm can live up to 7 days and you may ovulate without knowing...fx for us both! Xxx

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 28/09/2014 10:26

Ditto what love bugs said - keep dtd and trying to enjoy it - none of us know what are bodies are up to all very mysterious. Hope thinks look up for you soon freedom. Sending Thanks
