Ive read another thread with interest about ttc after the pill & saw that a couple of posters were about to stop their bc pills so thought a new thread might be in order!
Im getting married in August & currently finishing my last packet of Yasmin. Excited & nervous all at the same time!

So who's with me?

I don't know about clearblue freedom but I used internet cheapies (big bag from amazon) and they seemed to work. Early in the month I would get nothing and then a line would gradually appear and grow darker until I reached my peak and then fade/disappear... Try not to stress too much about it, just enjoy your time with your DH and the rest of holiday Smile Thanks

Lovebugs2014 · 17/09/2014 20:13

Well not much to update really but thought I would let you know that I haven't experienced any symptoms having finished my pill on Sunday. No withdrawal bleed yet and so far feel quite normal which is great but hoping this doesn't lull me into a false sense that it might be like this until I have AF then after that my body will be a nightmare! Hope you are all ok, any updates? Xx

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 18/09/2014 09:06

Withdrawal bleed today, a day early (and been like clockwork whole time I been on the pill) hoping that is a good omen that af will also be early/on time but who knows! At least the waiting can begin :) keep me updated love bugs we are doing this together! :)

Hello!

Hope you don't mind me hopping onto this thread. Never ever thought I'd want to have kids (even now I'm not convinced I like them that much, especially not babies- yuk...), but the ol' biological clock has kicked me right in the ovaries- it's now or never and I don't want it to be never- and I stopped taking my pill (cerazette) about a week ago which I am keeping a tightly guarded secret from my grandchild-crazed parents. No icky symptoms yet, also no period. I've been taking it for nearly 20 years, so God knows what's going to emerge. My husband thinks that it's going to be like the elevator scene from 'The Shining'...I had to explain to him that the blood doesn't accumulate over the years...I think by that point he had his fingers in his ears and was humming...

We're quite laid back about 'trying'...at our relatively advanced age in first-time parenting terms (36 and 42 respectively) if it happens, great, if not then it's not the end of the world- we'll just enjoy a comfortable retirement when it comes!

Simultaneously excited and terrified. What an adventure! Can't wait to start talking about ovulation and mucus and all sorts of exciting things. I don't have any girl friends to talk about this stuff and I love a nice messy conversation (the more "eeewwww" the better!) about bodily functions. Look forward to sharing the ride with you all! ; D

Hello skeppers and welcome! As you can see me and love bugs have also just come off a few days ago so come join us :)

Katybear123 · 18/09/2014 20:47

Hey skeepers welcome and u will defo get all the details on here no room for Squamish!

Not sure if helpful but I'm 32 and was on loestrin pill for 17 yrs. came off it in may and cycle 1 was 51 days, copy clue 2 25 days, cycle 3 34 days. This is cycle 4 and this cycle I wanted to understand more what was going on so have been using cbfm and there know I did ovulate. I suspect this may been either the first or second time though. Just thought I would share in case useful

Lovebugs2014 · 18/09/2014 22:37

Welcome Skeppers! It's great to be able to get details if what others are going through on here and as you say share all the details!! I finished my pill on Sunday-was on the mini pill for last few months but before that loestrin for about 15 years. Not had any signs if withdrawal bleed, AF or anything really though I have wondered if my mood is affected as I've been a bit down the last few days but could also be that I'm back from an awesome holiday and wish I was still there and my work is stressful at the mo so hard to tell really. Fingers crossed for you as you start this exciting chapter xx

Skeppers · 19/09/2014 10:07

Thanks all. And thank you Katybear123 for the technical details! I love numbers and counting (I do it for a living) but we've decided that we're not going to freak out about counting days / cycles / measuring ovulation, etc...we're going to just sit back, carry on as usual and see what happens. Like I said, neither of us are absolutely desperate to have children- if it happens then that's fantastic, but if it doesn't that's also OK, we'll find fulfillment elsewhere. I suppose I'm happy to let nature take its course! It would be nice to know when my first bleed is due though- just for jam rag logistical purposes- but I suppose after 20 years of being on the Pill (and the last 3 of those on Cerazette when you don't even get a withdrawal bleed) it's a bit of a finger in the wind job...I downloaded a cycle tracker app thingy yesterday and the first question it asked was "When was your last period?". Umm....I don't know...1994?! Helpful.

Lovebugs2014 Glad you had a lovely holibobs! I know what you mean; I was paranoid about mood swings, spots and all the other horrible symptoms I read about online..but I've been feeling hunky dory thus far! In fact, I feel like I have more energy. I was getting terrible headaches for a couple of days, but pinned that down to the fact that I was trying to wean myself off caffeine and hadn't had tea / coffee for 3 days...if you've ever had a caffeine withdrawal headache you'll know that they're ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Now I'm back on the coffee (only one cup a day, mind) I feel much better! I read an interesting article recently about how some women have been on the Pill for SO long they forget what 'normal' feels like and actually feel better when they stop taking it...obviously doesn't apply to everyone but was interesting to read- I'll see if I can find the link.

I do have a question about folic acid; I've been taking the 400mg per day for a month or so...I read somewhere that you can take more; especially if you're a fatty (I am)...what is everyone else doing?

Freedom40 · 19/09/2014 10:33

Hi everyone welcome skepper great to see us golden gals represented. Im 6 week away from 40 and DH is 46 came off bc in may after being one it for 3 years and was 95 days to my 1st AF. IM now waiting for Bfp or AF. We feel like you do would love a dd or ds but if it does not happen we'll make do. Feeling loads better off the bc and will probanly find other means if bc as truely convinced hormones not for me. My sex drive is finally back with all the randyness and cm that comes with it. My DH does not know what hit him. I think he'll lock himself in the bedroom shortly if it continues. I can definitely say im a cougar on the prowl. I feel like im 21 again. The sun and sea of santorini Greece did not hurt either. Got smilie face since sunday and stull smiling. Waiting for the permenant smile face on clrarblue opk yo happwn but enjoying the dtd.

Skeppers · 19/09/2014 14:26

Ha ha, that's the first time I've ever been referred to as a 'golden girl', but I suppose in baby-making terms I really am!

Yeah, bit of an issue the whole shagging thing. Neither my partner and I are particularly highly-sexed, we never have been. Don't want it to turn into a 'chore'. I mean, we do it probably once a week on average (is that good? bad? I really have no benchmark for this sort of thing!), but I read somewhere you should be aiming for 2-3 times per week? I don't know where I'll find the motivation! Shock Ours has always been a case of quality, not quantity...Wink I'm usually asleep on the sofa by 9pm!

Skeppers · 19/09/2014 14:28

^^ Don't know why I referred to him indoors as 'partner'...think it's because we've only been married just over a year (despite being together for 12) and old habits die hard! I mean HUSBAND. Must get used to saying that at some stage!

Freedom40 · 19/09/2014 15:49

Hey skeppers they will be calling us geriatric mums to be at hospitalHmmso not amused

Skeppers · 19/09/2014 16:05

GERIATRIC? WTAF!? Shock

Would like to see them try. I can see a midwife getting punched in the tits.

Skeppers · 19/09/2014 16:06

...Or ball. Must not gender stereotype. My age-rage knows no gender boundaries.

Moomin37 · 20/09/2014 07:09

Hey Skeppers - couldn't help bit notice our similar circumstances... I 35 and husband is 41, I recently came off the pill and decided to dramatically reduce caffeine at the same time (I had those awful headaches for weeks on end) and we've only recently got married after being together 11 years! I took my last pill (Yasmin) on 9th July and had normal bleed then, but had nothing since and no CM at all. I'm taking folic acid, have bought some conceive plus lube and started reading 'taking charge of your fertility' as recommended by people on here. Like you I wanted to take things as they came, but I know that in time I'll get frustrated/fed up with it all, so thought a bit of knowledge and magic sticky stuff would help!

Skeppers · 20/09/2014 08:47

So, 'conceive plus live' is a thing? Well, now you know, Skep! I'm such a major tomboy I think I'm going to struggle more with pastel coloured feminine products than the grossest of bodily functions! Shock

And yeah, you're right on with the eerie similarities thing. Maybe we're like those twins who get separated at birth then go on to lead almost identical lives...I hope so; means we could make top dollar with a guest spot on This Morning, or Good Morning or whatever the hell it's called these days... two thumbs up

Skeppers · 20/09/2014 08:48

*LUBE dammit stupid autocorrect. I don't think I'd want to have anything to do with 'conceive plus live'...!

Freedom40 · 20/09/2014 09:34

Hi momin37 i stopped takong yadminin May after 3 years on and hot the withdrawal bleed then nothing nothing at all for 95 days went to GP and he said it could take 6 months for hormones to get out and on top our fertility drops off the cliff after 35 worse if loke me you're approaching 40. Best advice i can give is relaxand think of dtd like you did whrn you were 20. But now you are happy to get up the duff. I treated myself to reflexology yo relax and sleep better. Fx and good luck.

Moomin37 · 20/09/2014 18:56

Oh Skeppers would you believe me if I said I am a 'Tom boy' too?! I do hate that phrase though!

Hi Freedom40 thanks for your post - how long did it take for AF to appear or are you still waiting? I was pondering seeing GP, but guessed they would probably say you just have to sit it out :( Fx for you too Smile

Freedom40 · 20/09/2014 23:05

moomin37 my gp was very supportive and sent me form blood test after waiting 85 days for 1st AF. But they can make you wait 6 months. Mine came on day 95. Tough waiting though but all fine now.

Dreamingoutloud · 21/09/2014 08:47

Hey all, I swear I joined this group before but I must be imagining it, probably just lurked!
I stopped taking the pill last month (was on it for about 7ish years) had my withdrawal bleed as usual, then 30 days later Af came. Am now on cd3 of that.
Ugh I forgot how bad my cramps were and dh is definitely afraid of at the moment, I must be moody as he came home with a bottle of wine and a chocolate bar for me last night Grin
So basing on last month I should be ov around 2ndish oct.
Here's hoping we all have our bfps soon!

Justyouwaitandsee · 21/09/2014 23:13

Hi all, just a quick stop by to say how much I love the idea of 'Conceive Plus Live' - can just see this being shown late night on Ch5 Wink

Katybear123 · 22/09/2014 21:20

Hey justyouwaitand see how u doing? How's the bump coming?

RoseBud2015 · 22/09/2014 21:29

Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind me butting my nose in but I came off BC yesterday (Femodene) and have an appointment with the doctor next week to discuss our plans :) We have decided to wait for my first AF before TTC #1.
I am 30 and my DH is 37. We have been married for 2 years and moved into our dream family home a week after our wedding!
I have PCOS which I was diagnosed with 15 years ago, and have been on the pill ever since so who knows what my body will be thinking in the coming weeks and months!!!
The plan is: to not have any real plan!!! We'll see how longer that one lasts ;)

Lovebugs2014 · 22/09/2014 22:05

Hi all, just a quick update, if I was to go on the last AF date when on the pill I should have Started my AF today but so far nothing! Not getting my hopes up that in the week I've been off the pill we would have concieved but wondering if it will be a while before I get AF...my boobs are sore but other than that I feel great and that could be anything! Don't wat to start testing too early as it they are expensive and will disappoint me do think I'll wait it out for another weel or two and see what happens.
