Can I just say a few words to the unlucky ladies who've experienced recent losses. I've had losses myself and so has my mum. Poor mum had 4, before finally getting my sister. The first at 12 wks, then 16 wks, 8wks & 12wks. I think her take on it is very relevant here as she was childless during the losses, mine came later.

I asked her recently about them and whether she thought about them and the people they might have been. She said she did but if she hadn't lost them she wouldn't have had us. Well she wouldn't have had me, I was the only planned one. She said it was such a sad time, if only someone could have given her a snapshot of the future, that she'd eventually have 3dc and 6gch. She's still amazed by it all and says being a granny is a privilege. It took her 18 years start to finish to have her dc. The happiness of having the dc she had far outweighed the pain.

This road is short for some and longer for others. I wish you all as happy a destination as she found.

That's lovely MrsExtraOrdinary! I'm so sorry for all those that have suffered losses, I can only imagine your pain but there are lots lovely times ahead I'm sure :)

spinningirl10 · 01/07/2014 21:39

Ahh MrsE that's lovely. What a tough time your Mum must have had before you came along.

sparkle17 · 01/07/2014 21:53

Hi everyone, i have been lurking on this bus so far, but seen as it is the 1st today i thought i'd give join in this evening. Just looked at the final update from the June bus and there were 17 BFP''s.

I have been at the boring part of my cycle as just getting into DTD territory now. It is funny how at the start of the cycle that you kind of reset yourself. The stress, anxiety, anticipation of the 2ww dissipates. I can imagine it will build again soon. I'm on CD 10 now, i have started to use CB opk's. No smiley faces yet.

Congrats on the BFP's ladies! Great start.

MrsE that is wise words there. x

Treaclepie19 · 01/07/2014 22:17

Thank you MrsE, we can always rely on you for wisdom and encouragement :)

Thanks MrsE! Your mum is a wise lady. That's exactly how I try to see things. Inherently I'm ever the optimist. I saw a quote on Pinterest that said 'it's just a bad day, not a bad life' - I try to remember that when it all gets a bit much. I want babies so much that I will not give up until I get there. Those babies will be so wanted and so loved. Im so lucky in so many other aspects of my life, a baby really will be the perfect icing on pretty spectacular cake.

Blueskygirl30 · 02/07/2014 04:33

I was totally lying when I said I'd be taking a step back from the forum, you're just all so lovely I can't not read everything everyone is saying!!

MrsE that's a fantastic way of putting it! I hope that those of you who have suffered losses will be able to look back on these horrid times in the future and be able to feel something like that.

Hugs back to everyone for being so lovely, I am feeling massively better now, I was a working today (just finished my shift and a few cheeky après work drinks and am now sat in my hotel room catching up with you ladies).

Does anyone know anything about either bringing forward ovulation in a cycle or extending luteal phases? On my last cycle I ovulated on day 18 and then had a 26 day cycle so only had 8dpo before AF arrived. I'm worried this isn't long enough. I've read about taking B6 and evening primrose oil, I just wondered if anyone had tried this at all?

Fx for everyone POAS this morning!

notoasthere · 02/07/2014 05:44

blue you are on the go early!

Morning all - I can already tell that first tri tiredness is going to kick my arse, especially with an up with the larks toddler! I'm launching a new breastfeeding support group today - feeling nervous and nauseous in equal measure!

MaMaPo · 02/07/2014 05:46

Hello everyone - I lost the new thread, even though I only posted on the old one once or twice.

I haven't read this whole thread but spied some positive tests in there - hearty congratulations!

So I am working out that I know NOTHING about conception or ttc. What's the recommendation re: how often to have sex during the fertile period? We have been enjoying ourselves every 2 days (though missed yesterday - will have to be more focused/both in the same place tonight) but I wonder if this is enough.

Also, when do people usually try a test? With my daughter I tested a full week after my period was due, as I didn't really believe I could be pregnant. Not sure what I'd do if I were late this time.

I had a work meeting the other day which devolved into a conversation about fertility. My colleague is embarking on what must be her 6th (at least) cycle of IVF, and I mentioned all my friends who are having miscarriages and ectopics (another friend miscarried - though v early - last week). I am so much more pessimistic this time around. (It probably doesn't help to see how OLD I am compared to most of you!)

Ah. This is all very ME ME ME but I shall buck up and get on with my otherwise pretty wonderful life, and perhaps at some stage another little person will come and join it.

Best of luck to all of you!

notoasthere · 02/07/2014 06:24

Hey mama

Over a normal 28 day cycle, with ovulation around day 14, you could conceive having sex every other day during your fertile period - eg day 10-20 without testing for ovulation etc

You could adopt the every other day method, test for ovulation, then dtd every day from your positive opk for 4-5 days. If you aren't sure where in your cycle you ovulate then temping or opk testing will identify it for you

Some people can test and get a + result as soon as 7dpo, but usually you can test from 10dpo, although results are more likely to be reliable from 12dpo

MaMaPo · 02/07/2014 06:41

Thanks, notoast - that's helpful.

Does everyone use OPKs then? Am I missing a trick by just trying dumb luck and assuming my iPhone app (which, let's face it, doesn't know me from Adam Eve) can tell me when I'm fertile? Maybe I will see how this month goes and consider it for next month.

tryinghard2 · 02/07/2014 06:49

I think af is coming :(

MaMaPo I haven't used opks but this is our first month of trying so still time to turn to it! I'm worried my cycle is irregular now :S I know what you mean, I feel really pessimistic as well. We have friends doing IVF and who have miscarried too and that makes me feel like it will take forever and be difficult, or friends it has been super easy for...but I still think it will be difficult because if it was easy for them, we must be the ones who might need help! I'm not a negative person but have convinced myself of this with no reason or evidence Grin

Treaclepie19 · 02/07/2014 06:56

Morning all!
blue, i have a short luteal phase too but not keen on trying those things.
The doctor wasn't concerned. I thought it might've caused my miscarriage but she didn't think so.
There is also progesterone cream you can use to help it along.

Temp still up today. Those 2 temps must've been rogues. Messed up all my charts though. or I ovulated the other day which I'm refusing to believe
6 dpo today :)

cinnamongreyhound · 02/07/2014 07:07

Another IC bfn for me this morning. Had some cramps last night and felt what I thought was af starting when I went to the loo it was just quite a bit of creamy discharge.

spinningirl10 · 02/07/2014 07:14

MorningGrin

Notoas, good luck today with your breast feeding support group, great idea. I was told to bottle feed with my dd when she had problems latching on but I persevered and got there in the end!

Cd 9 here, will be poa opk todayGrin

MrsExtraOrdinary · 02/07/2014 07:23

Noto good luck today! I wish it had been invented when I started out being a mummy. Even at 18 I was determined to ebf but there was no support in 1998. I got there in the end though. If I get a bfp I'll have to pick your brains. After a year of bf with each baby I think my left boob decided to go on strike last time. I could never get as much milk from that side as the right. Confused

It such a special bond.
