I know its only just the start of August but my next AF is not due until 5th September ish.

Sorry to hear AF has arrived for others that have to join me but here's hoping for lots of BFP's this month.

OP posts:
DreamingIguess · 29/08/2006 13:22

when i used the ov tests i got double lines (identical) over space of about a week too. and when i randomly used one later in month. seemed to be permanently ovulating (with little success i hasten to add)..

word on street seems to be that pcos could be a factor in the permanent pos thang.. ?

Babymad4num3 · 29/08/2006 13:24

endlesslove welcome sorry to hear about your AF your in good company in here and the ladies in here are out of this world and are very supportive! How long are you cycles!?

Babymad4num3 · 29/08/2006 13:26

Waht is PCOS?

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 13:26

did you read that babymad, do you have any other symptoms, did you get any mega stretchy mucus this month??

DreamingIguess · 29/08/2006 13:26

bad luck endless love was rooting for you. i'm in much same boat; af due tomorrow/thurs/or fri.. and will prob arrive today, early like last month

i know it seems like some months EVERYONE is getting a pos.. esp when they're those who you've been chatting to lots

but rest assured there are TONS of us who aren't.. and are in same boat as you.. but who are just in background..

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 13:27

polycystic ovarian syndrome

DreamingIguess · 29/08/2006 13:32

BabyMad

hi, i just want to add sorry if that was a tactless reference.. i guess it's easy to forget that everyone is familiar with different parts of pregnancy/childbirth terminology

and i also wanted to add that pcos can be treated with really good results, from what ive read

so.. again, sorry to drop the name in so insensitively and i hope it's not that causing permanent pluses on the ov tests. but .. it might be worth investigating. i'll dig deeper on it myself i i don't become preg by xmas (i was told i had mild pcos as a teenager and given some treatment but am hoping am okay now)

GOOD LUCK

sideways · 29/08/2006 13:32

Hi everyone, can I join you? I have been ttc since about March with no luck.

I am 39 and also on the "older mums ttc" thread. I always thought I ov on day 10 but I'm not so sure now!

Looking forward to some support here

endlesslove · 29/08/2006 13:33

Thanks for your support. The first day of af is such a horrible day. You just feel like a failure and why is pg not happening for you.

My cycles are between 28-34 days. This month af arrived on CD32. I would say this is more my average amount of days.

DreamingIGuess - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that AF does not arrive at all. Let me know.

xx

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 13:34

babymad dont you have your serum 21 progesterone test at the drs on weds or thurs ? that will tell you if you ov this month but you will prob either be af or preg before you get the results with how long the labs take

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 13:37

Hi there Sideways im a 39yr old too been trying since end of april

Babymad4num3 · 29/08/2006 13:38

The only thing I'm sure of is that I have EWCM each month because hubby always thinks I'm turned on, men shows how much they know, but anything else I don't really know but I will keep an eye on it, what other signsare there? I use to have spot on 28 day cycle's but for the last 5 months they they've been 4 days last 2-3 days early!

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 13:40

ok being really thick here but how long does it take for sperm to reach the egg after bd , then i know egg has to fertilise within 6 hrs after being released , but then how long does it take to implant etc ?????

Angsthase · 29/08/2006 13:40

Endlesslove - sorry AF arrived

Sideways - welcome to our world. I think we're in a similar position. I'm 39 and been TTC for 2 years (with 1 mc in May).

Here's to a pos Sept for both of us

DreamingIguess · 29/08/2006 13:49

isn't it sperm can take 24-48 hrs, at least that is as long as it can live;

and then implantation can take 6-12 days from fertilisation??

or am i now officially a mentalist and imagining the lot

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 13:52

i know the egg only lasts for 6hrs and usually gets fertilised as soon as its released ,god with all this info you would think it would be happening for us wouldnt you lol

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 14:14

chats a bit slow on this thread today so im gonna go and do what everyone else is ob doing ...housework,its no good puttig it off i suppose, happy bd all thos who pos ov and commiserations those who got af and not too anxious waiting those of us who are 2nd half of cycle...

Babymad4num3 · 29/08/2006 14:28

I've been looking at stuff to do with this pcos and i'm going to have a blood test done! Some of the things ring true!

DreamingIguess · 29/08/2006 14:42

hallo again - i hope it is helpful then..

from what i've read, it's more and more the case that symptoms are totally untypical. some girls have one, but not another. someone else might be a real textbook case, i read of one girl who was diagnosed on the basis of having a few stray hairs around her nipples.

i'm glad you didn't get upset anyway. phew

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 14:48

back again kitchen almost spotless now lol,and this site is sooo addictive, babymad, hope all goes wel with your testing , but dont get disillusioned youve done it 2x before x

MrsMcJnr · 29/08/2006 14:50

MM - I think that sperm can live for up to 5 days in fertile quality CM. Fertilization takes place in the outer third of the fallopian tube within hours of ovulation and then the fertilized egg takes about a week to burrow in. Hope that helps.

Just been to buy a present for my nephew - he's 2 1/2 and saw those magnetic letters at the toy shop. Think when I finally do fall, I'll write something on the fridge in those to tell DH - maybe "Who's the Daddy" "Daddy to be" something like that - oh dear - day dreaming again . The other night a friend was talking about his stag and said it would be on 2nd June. I exclaimed to DH, "you can't go then, that's our 1st anniversary!!" but a part of me was also thinking "our baby will only be a couple of weeks old, you can't leave me!" wishful thinking hey!!

DreamingIguess · 29/08/2006 14:51

exactly and pcos is no block to conceiving

ie posh spice, jools oliver, and others

i think its just one of the things that can cause false readings on ov tests, as LH is always high.

well done with cleaning MM

i'm stuck at desk yearning to go home

stomach so bloated i look like i'm about to give birth let alone get a first pos test!

toying with idea of turning up at hosp as have really strong gripey pains. they could do a blood test for preg couldnt they

sigh. or maybve just home to bed

MrsMcJnr · 29/08/2006 14:53

I'm with you DreamingIguess - having a very unproductive afternoon at my desk

mummymelling · 29/08/2006 14:57

DreamingIguess · 29/08/2006 15:01

sadly i have to be ready to collect hubby at 7.30. train strike in this area and had to drop him at station at 6.15 a.m.to catch a coach to london to take the tube.

he refuses to tell his co they'l have to pay for a cab
