Manuka honey is a honey found only from a partucular tree in new Zealand. It doesnt grow anywhere else in the world. It has very high antibacterial properties but you need to make sure you get the raw manuka honey. It looks more like vaseline than normal processed honey. It is very expensive but totally worth the money in my opinion. It is sooo good for you not just for conception but for general wellbeing. Its excellent for helping to clear up colds and sore throats too. It comes in different potency levels that start at +5 and goes up to about +30 I think. The higher the number the higher its antibacterial qualities. I usually buy at least a +10. Ive seen it at sainsbury and tesco, and occasionally aldi. Holland and barret is usually the most expensive unless they have a deal on

barmybunting · 25/01/2014 13:47

Right, this manuka honey stuff. (I've just seen it in Tesco for £9.99 which is crazy for honey but I realise is cheaper than elsewhere!). I'm debating giving it a go.

How often are you supposed to take it? And can you mix it in with porridge or something or is it meant to be taking straight?

KittyVonCatsington · 25/01/2014 14:36

Right. Am sitting on the sofa in shock that I have just spent £90+.
Holland and Barrett Manuka Honey 22+ for £40. Apparently, they come in different strengths Confused. Pregnacare His and Hers £18.99. Two months supply of CB Digi 20 odd quid and Balance Activ conception gel, £13.99.
I have to keep this quiet from DH!! CD3. Good Grief Grin

KittyVonCatsington · 25/01/2014 14:40

Now I've just read back on past posts, it seems Manuka Honey is the hot topic of the day! Am planning on taking one teaspoon straight, a day.

spinningirl10 · 25/01/2014 15:27

Kitty.....how much!!!Grin

Crikey this ttc is expensive!!

Must admit I've just had some frer delivered from Amazon!!

Just pee'd on an ov stick but no dark line, maybe tomorrow but I'll do another later just in case Grin

KittyVonCatsington · 25/01/2014 15:32

ThoraNomiki · 25/01/2014 15:52

Let me know if I need to change or add any stats Smile

DH and I had an appt with the GP yesterday. We're being sent for testing. Having looked at my cycles a pattern is starting to emerge. AF always turns up on a Friday and cycles appear to be falling midway through every other month (apart from the first 6 months and then another 3 month cycle). I reckon I could be having annovulatory cycles the months that I don't get AF (or maybe not ovulating at all).
Anyway what this means is that I should be expecting AF in March rather than Feb so will be setting off to the bus station to see if I can hi-jack me a shiny new March bus Grin.

I'll still lurk around on here now and then and update stats once in a while.
Good Luck everyone! With much kindness and best wishes I hope I won't be seeing you on the next bus Grin

mum2kiss · 25/01/2014 15:53

I either take manuka honey straight, or in hot (not boiling) water with a squeeze of lemon, or I'll add a bit to my porridge...

just remember to get the raw honey...thats the best one ;)

pebble82 · 25/01/2014 16:00

Thanks ThoraNomiki for the stats update. Sorry you're being sent back to the bus station but hopefully you'll be in a better position to understand what your body is doing and will get your BFP asap.

I think I need to update my stats after ovulating late. I thought I hadn't at all but my temp seems to have gone up so the website ovufriend has me down as OV CD20 (wed).

That means my new stats are

pebble82, TTC#1, Cycle 2, BFP due 5th Feb

broodysnoopstie · 25/01/2014 16:23

Hello can I hop on? I'm in my 2ww.. Broodysnoopstie ttc # 1 cycle 6 bfp due 6th feb fingers crossed for us all

SnowBells · 25/01/2014 16:34

Kitty

I am on the Holland & Barrett site right now. Don't tempt me...

barmybunting · 25/01/2014 16:48

If anyone is looking, I have just found manuka honey (15+ whatever that means!) in Aldi for £4.99. I'm not sure if it's the right stuff but it tastes alright with lemon in hot water so I'll give it a go!

mum2kiss · 25/01/2014 17:01

Aldi is the cheapest place but they dont always do the raw stuff...its still good but the raw stuff is better ;)

Coffeechocolate · 25/01/2014 17:41

Hi all, can I hop on too please? Completely new to MN.
I'm in my 2ww. TTC #3,cycle 2, bfp due 6th Feb

Coffeechocolate · 25/01/2014 17:43

Oh, posted to soon, was going to say, good luck to us all!

barmybunting · 25/01/2014 17:43

mum2kiss this is a daft question, but how do you tell if it's the raw stuff? The aldi ingredients just say unpasteurised new zealand manuka honey and nothing else so I'm not sure if it is?
Thanks!

missmrsmummy · 25/01/2014 18:02

Ooh I'm thinking of going for the honey now!

So far I've tried smep, koala plan and cb digi opk.

Need something else to add to my programme.

I've heard green tea helps - anyone else heard this?

What else could I be doing?

Answers I don't really want to hear (but I know I should be doing): more exercise, no alcohol, less sugar!

Knottyknitter · 25/01/2014 18:02

Room for a little reject from the January bus? I don't mind standing by the luggage rack...

TTC #1. Cycle 3. BFP due 21/2.

Period started today. A day early, so last two cycles 35 and 27 days. Used to be a clockwork-like 28 pre pill. Hmm

Feeling more than a little bit fragile tonight. Sad

missmrsmummy · 25/01/2014 18:39

Hi Knotty. Sorry you're feeling low Thanks I'm also on cycle 3 so we can help each other through! My periods have also been starting early. So my bfp is due 12 Feb.

Half tempted to ramp it up and try harder (see my post a few messages ago) half tempted to ignore opk and try 'not trying' for a couple of months.

My doctor and a therapist I was seeing for self-esteem etc said its best not to try x

sazzlehopes · 25/01/2014 18:46

Missmrs extra to throw at it from my recent successful cycle, ginger tea, hot water bottle on belly up to and passed ov, and reflexology! I did not cut out sugar or alcohol, and although I'm slim i never exercise so pretty unfit!!
Good luck!

angelicjen · 25/01/2014 18:48

Woop, positive opk on cd17, much earlier than last month. So bfp hopefully 8th feb. Must make sure DP goes easy on the beers tonight!
I hope all the manuka honey, grapefruit juice, pregnacare tablets and koala-style cycling do the trick for us all and this is our month. Can't wait to hear the bfps rolling in. It makes me feel so much more positive. I'm nervous already!

barmybunting · 25/01/2014 18:57

Charlie It's the same make as the one you have linked, but a 15+ runny version rather than the harder stuff (sorry, no idea what the thicker honey is called). It doesn't show me it on their website either for some reason. I think the thicker stuff tastes better but the 15+ seemed to be worth a go anyway!
