New thread. Welcome back to all the regulars. Welcome to all the newbies - please come and join us if you are IVFing or thinking about. The regulars are a mine of information at this point!

Do you realise that this will take us through a year of egg buddy threads? I believe Karbea started the last one around Xmas time last year for those cycling in 2013 and I immediately jumped on it as I was about to start my first cycle in January. Blimey.

Some people just don't have a clue, do they badhair?

I always like to have a plan brooker. I'm glad you got a decent amount of time with the cons.

After a chase Hmm the clinic finally called me back this morning. The level was 246 (so had more than doubled from 107 on Thursday). I'm pleased about that and am going to try to stop mentalling until the scan on 3 Jan.

Well done euro! Great news. You have a scan on the 3rd?! Mine isn't until the 17th , when I will be 9+2!

chocolocodowninacapulco · 22/12/2013 11:48

brooker glad your review was positive and you have a good plan in place and managed to have a good discussion.

badhair hope your body sorts itself out soon.

talulahbelle · 22/12/2013 11:50

euro just popping in to say huge congratulations, I hope Xmas goes smoothly and your scan in the 3rd is successful.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 22/12/2013 12:25

Euro that is fantastic news Grin
Still Shock at you not getting the results yesterday though.

Brooker sounds like a great plan. Now you can relax and enjoy Christmas.

Bad my AF was late while DR, I was under the impression that it's very common.
As for that guy it's unbelievable that some people can just plan when to have their children. Lucky bastards Hmm

Fish sending you lots of love x

nobeer · 22/12/2013 13:10

congratulations euro!

badhair I don't know you managed to keep quiet! one of these days (prob when I'm hormonal) I will tell one of these tactless idiots just how bloody lucky they are!

waves to you all.

Badhairday76 · 22/12/2013 13:52

Yay, Euro - great news! If I had had a drink Nobeer I would have def said something. My DP was giving me looks willing me not to speak! X

eurochick · 22/12/2013 14:29

badhair you showed great willpower! I'm not sure I would have managed such restraint.

My AF was also late while downregging. I think it arrived on the 9th day of DR drugs.

choc my clinic does seem to scan earlier than any of the others. We have been considering putting it off, as it is really borderline timewise for seeing a heartbeat (6+1) and last time our first scan was a bit ambiguous (no heartbeat but a clear sac and yolk).

OP posts:
resipsa · 22/12/2013 16:12

Great news Euro.

I'm not asking for an earlier scan than the routine 7 weeks for the very reasons you describe. With my blighted ovum, I went at 6-7 weeks and was told it was simply too early so had to go later anyway.

AFM, daily (morning only - weird) spotting continues into Day 6. Total loss to date wouldn't nearly fill a slim pad so some optimism but still struggling not to think it's all over.

How's Sunday for everyone else?

ThoughtfulOne · 22/12/2013 18:00

Brooker - glad your review went well. Out of interest why are you doing a non medicated FET? My review is in Jan and we have two frosties - I don't really want more drugs if I can avoid it but nhs may do as standard. I'd be intersted to hear your experience.

I went and visited my inlaws with new baby - got through it ok (apart from being asked if I wanted to help with bath time!) but I feel dreadful today. As long as I can forget about it I'm fine but faced with a reality I may never have is so f*ing painful.

Bunnygirlie · 22/12/2013 19:16

Merry Christmas everyone!

Haven't caught up properly but hope people are ok.

Trying to concentrate on Christmas so I don't start panicking about starting jabs in around 7 days Shock

Badhairday76 · 22/12/2013 19:56

Hey Bunnygirlie - just to say honestly, the jabs are fine! I'm nine days in and it's over in a couple of seconds. We were laughing evilly today, because it's actually a lot less time consuming than forcing yourself to shag constantly when trying to get pregnant 'the natural way'. I was about to dish up the dinner but dashed through, got jabbed by by DP then ran back and continued mashing the potatoes. You will be fine xxx

Oops - missed your message, Thoughtfulone - glad you got through seeing your in-laws new baby. It's always tough, isn't it. There were tiny babies in the restaurant today where we had lunch and I kept thinking how if I hadn't miscarried in April, that would be us. Hopefully your FET will be the one to become your baby. I would also be interested in hearing about non-medicated FETs. The less drugs, the better!

Bunnygirlie · 22/12/2013 22:43

Thanks badhair and buggs

I know it's a mean to an end and I'm sure after the first few I'll be ok. It's just getting my head round it all, I got all my kit out of the box earlier, need to read through everything as my injection lessons were 6 or so weeks ago. The evening jab looks ok but worried about the morning one that needs to be mixed. Why does the complicated one have to be before work?!?

bugg well fingers crossed AF is on time so will start next Sunday, just half day at work on the 30th and then off till 2nd jan. will take 2 days off for collection and at least same again for transfer. Not sure what else to do

Bunnygirlie · 22/12/2013 22:44

Any tips ladies?

ThoughtfulOne · 23/12/2013 08:43

Euro - I some how missed your post yesterday - congrats!

Badhair - you have nerves of steel. I would have been seething.

Bunnygirl - I was panicky about my jabs at first but once you've done the first one it is easy. For the mixing I wrote all the steps down so I could follow it every day. You will be fine - thinking about it is worse than doing it.

Good morning everyone,
euro That is great news. I really hope that this is helping to make you feel a little more relaxed and am keeping everything crossed for the 3rd of Jan

AFM I think it is only just hit me that things haven't turned out how I would like this time round. Thanks for all your messages and support. Was feeling quite positive until yesterday when my Mum came over. You know what its like - you play the scene in your head over and over again when you tell your nearest and dearest the happy news and the day comes and it all turns out differently. So had a bit of a wobble yesterday and am feeling a bit sad today but am determined to have a good Christmas and just enjoy myself without the pressure of IVF or TTC. I'm also going to take a break from MN for a while. I have my review in the middle of Jan and should start stabbing mid Februar so I'll hop back on the train around then, but will probably be lurking in the background somewhere.

Just want to wish all of you about to begin a new round of the little fuckers all the best and lots and lots of luck. I really hope that most of you will have left the thread by the time I come back IYKWIM Smile

euro, res, choco I am praying that you all have relaxed, uncomplicated and enjoyable pregnancies, just as you deserve. It is certainly going to be a very special Christmas for you.

I know that this Christmas is going to be particularly difficult for some, for a number of different reasons. So just wanted to wish you lovely, strong ladies the best Christmas that you can have with the ones you love most.

So Merry Christmas everyone. Here's to a bigger and better New Year for us all!

nobeer · 23/12/2013 12:29

Enjoy your Christmas MaryP. You've been remarkably positive and upbeat, and to be honest it's bloody hard work to maintain, so don't feel bad if you can't. Have a nice time with your mum and see you back here when you're ready/feel like it. xx

twinklestar2 · 23/12/2013 13:04

I'm still lurking and reading, everybody, and hoping and praying for you all. I hope this is the last Christmas you're all on this thread.

Euro and Res - keeping everything crossed for you!

Bugger - I'm 11 days into DRing and I feel okay. Slightly more emotional than usual and have been quite tired, but I certainly wouldn't feel the need to take time off work at this stage. I've got two weeks off work though anyway, because I'm a teacher, but if I didn't, I would be in work. Some people do feel truly awful though, so why don't you see how you feel? I find work a distraction from all the IVF headfuck though, so I would rather be dealing with teenagers than googling IVF success rates (which is what I know I'd end up doing constantly!) I plan to take a day off for egg collection and a morning off for transfer. I reckon the transfer will be the worst part. The male doctor told me that it won't hurt, but I am sceptical. Not that he has ever had a catheter shoved up his cervix to actually know that! You need to see how you are coping emotionally though. I'm the type of person who copes better when really busy, otherwise I'm prone to wallowing in misery. X

Lifeasafish · 24/12/2013 09:15

Just wanted to wish you all a merry christmas and happy new year!

Its been a rollercoaster year and I guess there is a mix of celebration, commiseration and grief but we have got through this year in one piece so that's something.

AFM - of course my trials always have to have an extra sprinkling of cruelty - I'm off for an ERPC this morning so christmas is cancelled. I am fine with it I think.

Thank you all for your support this year - it means so much to me to have what I regard as a virtual family who know, understand and can give advice and experience.

All my love Fish and MrFish

eurochick · 24/12/2013 09:18

badhair I hope I can reassure you a bit. I've had 4 transfers now. Two were a little uncomfortable (more the speculum than the catheter) but not painful, one was somewhat painful (that was the one after I bled during EC and they bruised and battered me trying to stop it, so by ET time everything was still very swollen and I think sort of in the wrong place), one was painless (the most recent one and the only one done by a female gynae!). So all in all, they were not too bad at all. Three were similar to a smear. The one that didn't go well there was a reason for. The worst bit for me is trying not to pee in the gynae's face as my clinic does ultrasound guided transfers, with the speculum pushing up on your bladder and the nurse pushing the ultrasound probe down onto it. It certainly gives you something to focus on...

res how are you doing?
